    Question 1

      1. Which IAT data set are you working with?
      2. Use StatCrunch and your unique IAT sample to estimate the mean age for the population of IAT participants at the 90% confidence level. Copy the contents of your StatCrunch output window and paste them into your response. (No need to type anything here – just copy and paste the contents of your StatCrunch output window.)
      3. Are conditions met to estimate the mean age for the population of IAT participants? (Be sure to support your answer as demonstrated throughout Unit 8.)
      4. State the confidence interval, and then interpret the confidence interval in context.
      5. What is the margin of error (MOE)?
      6. Which would be more accurate, the 90% confidence interval you found or an 85% confidence interval? Briefly explain. Which would be more precise? Briefly explain.

    Question 2

At the end of 2020, the mean age of the U.S. population was estimated to be 38.5 years old. You are tasked with determining whether the mean age of the population of IAT participants (for your chosen IAT data set) differs from the mean age of the U.S. population.

      1. Let be the mean age of the population of IAT participants for your chosen IAT data set. State the hypotheses (symbolically and in words). Include a clear description of the populations and the variable.
      2. Use StatCrunch to create a histogram for the age distribution in your unique IAT sample. Download the StatCrunch output window and embed your histogram with your response. Can we safely use the t-test with your IAT sample? Explain.
      3. Perform the t-test using StatCrunch. Copy the information from the StatCrunch output window and paste it into your response.
      4. Based on the P-value, state your conclusions in context. Use a 5% level of significance. (NOTE: Since StatCrunch correctly calculates the P-value for either a one-tailed or a two-tailed test, you do not need to change the StatCrunch P-value.)
      5. Using the context of this scenario, explain the meaning of each of the following items from the StatCrunch output for the hypothesis test.
        Std. Err (standard error)
        T-stat (T-score)
        P-value

    Question 3

Below are the variables for Question 3. For all data sets, the categorical variable is the explanatory variable, and the quantitative variable is the response variable.

Race IAT Variables for Question 3 Only

    Open for the Race variables
    Open for the Weapons variables

Weight IAT Variables for Question 3 Only

    Open for the Weight variables
    • Choose only one of the categorical variables listed for your IAT data set and note the two groups for your chosen categorical variable.
    • Here is the question to be investigated for the two groups in your chosen categorical variable.
Do the population of IAT participants in one group score higher on the IAT test than the population of IAT participants in the other group?

To answer the question we are investigating, respond to each of the following

      1. Use StatCrunch to determine the sample size and sample mean, , for the two groups in your chosen categorical variable (). These directions assume your data set is open in StatCrunch.
        1. Select Stat Summary Stats Columns
        2. The Summary Stats window is now open.
          1. In the Select column(s): section, click on the IAT score variable to move it to the box on the right.
          2. In the Group by: section, use the drop-down menu to select your chosen categorical variable.
          3. In the Statistics: section, click on n (the sample size). On a Mac, use command + click to choose the mean. Or, on a PC use CTRL + click to choose mean. As you choose each item, it appears in the white box on the right. In the white box on the right, you should now see n and mean.
          4. Click Compute!
        3. Your StatCrunch output window should look similar to this. However, you may be using a different IAT data set. Also, you may have chosen a different categorical variable (from the two options provided in the assignment). Finally, your output window may only include two groups as opposed to the three displayed here (although – as per the assignment instructions for this categorical variable, we are directed to ignore the third group, so we crossed it out).
The StatCrunch summary stats output window with columns "n" and "mean" displayed. Also, three row representing the groups from the category variable are displayed, but the third is crossed out.

        • Copy your StatCrunch output table and paste it into your response. Then relabel the categorical variable groups with the appropriate word(s), i.e., replace the group numbers with the appropriate word(s) to describe the group (see the Categorical Variable section above for your data set).
        • Which of the two groups has the smallest sample mean? Which has the largest sample mean?
      1. Let be the population mean for the group with the largest sample mean. Let be the population mean for the group with the smallest sample mean. State the null and alternative hypotheses (symbolically and in words). Include a clear description of the populations and the variable.
      2. To test your hypotheses, is it appropriate to use the two-sample T-test? If so, explain why and provide any supporting evidence. If not, start over and choose the other categorical variable listed with your chosen IAT data set.
        • WARNING: If it is not appropriate to use the two-sample T-test for either of the categorical variables listed with your IAT data set, something may be wrong. Stop and contact me as soon as possible.
        • Proceed only if it is appropriate to use the two-sample T-test.
      3. Use StatCrunch to carry out the test ().

        Written Directions

        1. Choose: Stat T Stats Two Sample With Data
        2. Select the data column (twice – the first time for Sample 1 and the second time for Sample 2).
        3. Under the Sample 1: heading:
          1. Use the Values in: drop-down menu to select the appropriate quantitative variable.
          2. Use the Where option to “build” the Sample 1 group. Here you are “building” a category from the explanatory variable. To do this:
            • Click on Build.
            • Then choose the appropriate categorical variable, and click on it until the categorical variable shows up in the Expression line at the top of the Expression window.
            • Your cursor should now be in the Expression line right after the categorical variable. Type the equal sign.
            • Use the Values: drop-down menu (bottom-left of the Expression window) to select the group for your first sample. Then click the Add button (to the right of the drop-down menu).
            • Click Okay in the bottom right corner of the Expression window.
        4. For the second sample, we repeat these steps. Under the Sample 2: heading:
          1. Use the Values in: drop-down menu to select the appropriate quantitative variable. The same quantitative variable you selected for Sample 1.
          2. Use the Where option to “build” the Sample 2 group. Here you are “building” a category from the explanatory variable. To do this:
            • Click on Build.
            • Then choose the same categorical variable you chose for Sample 1, and click on it until the categorical variable shows up in the Expression line at the top of the Expression window.
            • Your cursor should now be in the Expression line right after the categorical variable. Type the equal sign.
            • Use the Values: drop-down menu (bottom-left of the Expression window) to select the group for your second sample. Then click the Add button (to the right of the drop-down menu).
            • Click Okay in the bottom right corner of the Expression window.
        5. Under Perform select the appropriate hypothesis test (based on the alternative hypothesis).
        6. Press Compute!
      4. Copy the content in the StatCrunch output window (text and the table) and paste it into the textbox as your response to this item.
      5. Use a 5% significance level to state a conclusion. Be sure to state your conclusion in context and in terms of what a more positive score on the IAT means for your data set. (Hint: in the variables section above, click on the variable descriptions link for your data set. The variable descriptions page opens in a new window. Review the Interpreting the IAT section at the top of that page.)
  • English Question

Share your plans for your Project 3 essay. This may take the form of a traditional outline, mind map, bulleted list, etc. I am looking for evidence that you have thought about how to write your essay. I have to write an argumentative essay, and I’m not sure if I should argue for adopting dogs over getting them from a breeder or whether AI is harmful or helpful for the environment/people. I will attach a sample essay of what my final product is to give you an idea of what type of sources and articles I need. I’m pretty sure that the article is supposed to go against what I believe, so for whichever topic you think is best, here are my stances on them. I believe we should adopt over breed, and I think AI is harmful, so I find articles that would be the opposite, like for breeding. I need you to give me a full outline and for my thesis here are some examples my professor gave me..

Writing a Thesis for Project 3

You want your thesis to be a bit nuanced and complex so that you’re not writing a boring, general thesis statement. Specificity is the key. This doesn’t mean you have to write a convoluted thesis–simplicity is still a good idea. But you want your thesis to be specific and compelling.

For this project, your thesis will likely include the following:

    • The author and title of the text (especially if it hasn’t been introduced yet) — this helps your reader know what text you’re analyzing.
    • A focus on understanding — remember that in this paper you’re not wanting to argue about the issue but instead are analyzing this text to understand the author’s position and where they’re coming from. Your thesis might mention points of view, worldviews, or values (but it doesn’t necessarily have to do so). However you word it, just make sure that it doesn’t seem to be criticizing or praising the author’s stance on the issue. It should demonstrate objectivity and that you’re working to understand their position.
    • Specific language. Try to be as specific as you can to give the reader a sense of what you’re focusing on in your analysis of the text.

Sample Thesis Statements for Project 3

Check out the below sample thesis statements for Project 3. These aren’t perfect, but they may help give you an idea of ways you can write a thesis for this essay project:

    • “Among these advocates is Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), an organization dedicated to preserving conservative and religious ideals within the U.S. government. Through their conservative and Christian views, Alliance Defending Freedom criticizes Planned Parenthoodthe most accessible and politically-involved abortion clinic in the United Statesthrough their article, Top 10 Reasons to Defund Planned
Parenthood in an attempt to uphold the values of equality, justice, and sympathy that they believe the unborn deserve.”
    • “I believe that everyone should get the vaccine as soon as they can, but the author of the op-ed article, Why I Refuse to Get the COVID Vaccine Right Now, Martin Makary, explains why even though he too is pro-vaccine, he is choosing to hold off on getting it because of the lower-class/high-risk people who are struggling to gain access to this vaccine while the low-risk people are obtaining it with ease.”
    • “Journalist/LGBT activist Skylar Baker-Jordan gives a swift response, answering the question before you even open the article. Published by the Independent on May 26th of 2019, BDSM and kink dont belong in
Pride Celebrations. This is why approaches the recurring question with an inside perspective.”
    • “One gun-rights advocate and past USA Today contributor, Robert Farago, makes the argument that action against the tragic happenings of the event will never be as simplistic as restricting firearms or tightening up gun laws, especially in a society which possesses an absurd number of firearms. These claims made throughout his article, ‘Opinion: Gun Control doesnt Work,’ subtly weave in Faragos set of key values and personal worldview, continuing to implicitly fuel the entirety of his argument against gun control.”
    • “In her article ‘Go Ahead, Forgive Student Debt,’ Annie Lowrey argues that ‘debt forgiveness is not the best form of stimulus available,’ and that it will not only negatively affect the American economy but
its citizens as well. Throughout her article, Lowrey exhibits worldviews focused on fiscal conservatism, equality, pragmatism, and moderate liberalism.”

Again, these aren’t perfect thesis statements, but they do a few things well: a) tell the readers what text they’re focusing on and who wrote it; b) provide a sense of the stance the author takes; and c) provide a general sense of why the author takes the stance they do. You’ll want to try to do something along these lines in your thesis statement, too.

USE NO AI and use reliable sources and articles. Please do some research on the articles and make sure theyre right and relaible like in the Sample essay. I also want to make it clearI only need one outline and I want you to pick the argument based off which sources and articles you find the best.

Following the discussion, please write your personal reflection answers to the questions as a Word document and upload it as directed. Note: This assignment is being submitted to Turnitin NO AI USAGE IS ALLOWED. (25pts):

    • What were the two scenes that struck you the most? Why? What do they mean to you as you enter into the field of nursing? (100 words minimum)
    • Where did you see cultural competence in action? Why was it important? (50 words minimum)
    • Describe a place in nursing that will require cultural competence that you had not considered before this video.(30 words minimum)
    • Video: The American Nurse (2014) documentary film by Carolyn Jones

      Scenes:
      – Nurse Naomi Cross, delivery nurse, how she new everything about her patient. She explained the process of epidural to her patient, walked her through it & stayed by her side through the C-Section. It struck me because I can relate from my own personal experience of having a C-Section & how scared I was. I had nurses that checked on me but none gave me the type of care Naomi Cross gave her patient & I wish I had that at the time. That is the kind of nurse I want to be for my future patients.

      – Tonia Faust, prison nurse, an exceptional example of what a nursing stands for. Her mindset that she does not focus on her patients crimes but instead on their health. She demonstrates compassion & humanity. She advocates for equity in healthcare. She embodies professional boundaries & ethical integrity. She models true nursing purpose: caring for the whole person.
