  • Unit 4 Assignment: Marketing vs. Reality Analysis

    Overview:

Food packaging and marketing often emphasize buzzwords like low-fat, heart-healthy, or good for you, but do the actual nutrition facts support these claims? In this assignment, you will choose a product with a fat-related health claim and analyze whether the label aligns with the marketing. You will apply your understanding of fat types, label reading, and dietary recommendations to uncover the truth behind the branding.

Submit your assignment by 11:59 p.m. EST, Sunday of Unit 4.

    Instructions:

Choose one packaged food product that features a marketing claim related to fat. Examples: low in saturated fat, heart-healthy, reduced-fat, made with healthy oils, etc.

    • Collect the following information:
    • A clear photo or screenshot of the front-of-package marketing
    • A photo or typed copy of the Nutrition Facts label and ingredient list
    • Write a short analysis (400500 words) that includes:
    • Describe the product and its fat-related marketing claim.
    • What does the package suggest about the product’s fat content?
    • Does it use phrases like “low-fat,” “heart-healthy,” or “made with healthy oils”?
    • Describe the fat content from the label (total fat, saturated fat, trans fat, unsaturated if listed).
    • Discuss whether the fat profile supports the marketing claim, using a scientific guideline (e.g., Dietary Guidelines for Americans, American Heart Association).
    • Compare the products’ fat content with one specific guideline.
    • Explain whether the product is marketed accurately, misleadingly, or somewhere in between.
    • Use your label analysis and the guideline to justify your conclusion.
    • You are not just deciding yes/no; you are evaluating how well the claim holds up.
    • Cite at least one reliable nutrition source to support your evaluation.
  • Case study analysis

NUR3125 Pathophysiology: Case Study Analysis Instructions The purpose of this assignment is for you to analyze patient data and synthesize their condition/disease with what you are learning in this course. Read and follow the instructions carefully: Analyze actual data from a client for whom you have provided care. Please carefully pay attention to HIPAA guidelines, removing all names, dates, medical record numbers, room numbers, etc. from your paperwork to protect client confidentiality. You may use initials or a pseudonym such as John Doe. You can be creative with the name. In a previous term, I had about 16 John Does. Also, do not name where this happened- such as the name of the hospital or facility. For example, you may state a hospital or facility within northeast Florida. Alternately, if you are not able to gather such information, you may create your own scenario and case study. You are looking at data on a real patient, this case analysis is not set up as a report. Prepare a paper 6-8 pages (not counting the title page and the references) using formal APA format. Include a minimum of four references. One source may be your text and a minimum of one English peer-reviewed nursing journal article (less than 5 years). Articles from non-nursing peer-reviewed journals, including those published outside the United States, and websites ending in .gov, .org and .edu may be used as a third resource if published within the last five years. Sources such as WebMd are not acceptable. Save your paper as a Word document and name it: lastnamefirstinitial Case Study. For example, if I were to submit my paper it would be CorsoM Case Study Include an Introduction, Discussion, and Conclusion sections. After a brief introduction, create Level One headings for each of the following: Patient Background: (include social history, allergies, current medications, and any labs or diagnostic tests related to the patients condition). For related labs or vital signs, you may create a table within your paper. Make sure to highlight abnormal findings (with a bold H or L). Pathophysiology: this section must be related to the condition your patient displayed during the time of your care. You may also include pre-existing conditions that correspond to their current state. A good example of what patho to include… If your patient has diabetes, but is in the hospital or seeking care due to a respiratory issue, do the patho for the respiratory issue, not diabetes. Be descriptive in your explanation of the pathophysiology of the disease/condition. Do not give a brief overview of the pathophysiology. This section should include what is happening at the cellular level within the body for that specific disease process or disorder. You may use your textbook. Include an original chart, diagram, algorithm (developed by yourself) that displays the pathological process of the patients condition in this section. If you use someone else’s works, you will need to credit the source- for example, you will have to place a caption under your chart/diagram stating Fig. 1: adapted from….. Failure to cite properly will lead to points deducted from your grade! Treatment Plan: this section needs to include medical treatment (prescribed by the MD) and nursing treatment/care. Include priority concerns. Worsening: what would happen if your patient’s condition worsened? If there was no worsening of conditions, what worsening conditions could have occurred? (When writing about what-if symptoms got better or worse, there are a few things to consider. If your patient improved, you could write about that, but you may need to go further. For example, a patient with an amputated leg may improve to the point of healing but not be able to wear a prosthesis due to pain. But what if…it is possible this patient could improve to the point of being pain-free and being able to wear one. If your patient did not improve, do not leave it blank. Write what would have happened if he had improved. The same applies to getting worse). You are expected to explain what happens if the patient improves or worsens, regardless of what actually occurred. Improved Conditions: What would happen if your patient’s condition improved? If it did not improve, what improvement could there have been? You are expected to explain what happens if the patient improves or worsens, regardless of what actually occurred. Conclusion: Summarize your findings So, the sections in the paper would look something like this: Your introduction paragraph(s). Discussion Patient Background Your paragraph(s) to include a summary of the pertinent patient background Pathophysiology Your paragraph(s) to explain the patho regarding the disease process or disorder on a cellular level. Include diagram or chart Treatment Plan Your paragraph(s) regarding the prescribed treatment plan of the physician AND the nursing treatment Worsening Conditions Your paragraph(s) to explain what happened or what might happen if the condition became worse Improved Conditions Your paragraph(s) to explain what happened or what might happen if the condition resolved or became better Conclusion Your paragraph(s) Submission of Assignment: Submit your assignment into the proper link within Canvas (Listed as Case Study Analysis). Your paper will automatically be scanned by Turnitin (you may include your title and reference page in your submission- I can re-scan it on my side). Your similarity index must be <20%. You can submit your paper up to 3 times in Turnitin before the due date. Do not worry if your index is high because of your reference and title page, it is ok, I can go back and re-scan your paper!! However, if your paper shows a high similarity index on certain sections and you did not attempt to revise this (or properly cite your sources), then worry! Please follow these instructions carefully and view the exemplars within Canvas that are available for your viewing! The examples are from previous assignments so some items may be different. The papers will give you an idea of the basic layout of the paper. They will also give you ideas for the original chart, diagram, algorithm (developed by yourself) that displays the pathological process of the patients condition.

  • 4.3 problem set

In this activity, youll apply risk and return concepts to real-world data. Youll calculate expected returns, variances, and standard deviations for single assets and portfolios. By doing this, youll see how numbers translate into investment decisions.

You will work with a fictional portfolio dataset which includes data for 24 months for 5 different securities. Use the information in both sheets of the Excel document included in this activity to complete your calculations.

Your textbook reading for this week, and the exercises in Activity 4.2 include all of the formulas and information you need to complete this activity.

You can also refer to Appendix E: Using Excel to Solve Financial Exercises in your textbook for additional guidance.

    Activity Instructions

    1. Download the .
    2. Use Excel or a financial calculator to compute:
    • Expected return of an individual security.
    • Variance and standard deviation of returns.
    • Portfolio expected return and risk (weighted averages).
    1. Summarize your findings explaining what the results mean for investors.
    2. Also describe
    3. Any changes you would recommend to a risk-averse investor
    4. Any changes you would recommend to an investor open to a higher level of risk

At the end of your submission, include a brief Design Statement explaining the process and tools you used to develop your work. Your statement should be about a paragraph or so, in your own words (rather than formally written), and unique to this assignment. Why are we asking for this? Find out more about .

    Tips for Success

    • Double-check your formulas (=STDEV(), =VAR(), weighted averages).
    • Label each cell and keep your spreadsheet organized.
    • Focus on interpreting results. What do your calculations tell us about real investments?

    Discussion Prompt B

Prompt B: After reading the text (both chapters) and watching the videos answer the following questions:

What did you learn this week that revealed weaknesses in your own study habits and what might be some steps you could take (based on that research) to improve your ability to store and retrieve information for your classes?

    Student #1

    Prompt B

I was excited to write this week’s discussion because I have been thinking about this a lot recently. I returned to school later in life and have found that many things have changed. People now take notes on their laptops, whereas when I was in college, few did. I have been learning how best to take notes and use them to study and succeed on exams. As I read the chapters this week, I found that taking notes by hand is better than taking notes on a laptop. I agree that when I am on my computer, my mind can wander, and I am tempted to do other things on my computer. In contrast, when I take notes, there are fewer distractions, and my mind is more focused on what I am doing. I was surprised to find that rereading your notes is not helpful, as I often do when I am studying. I was taught to study that way, but I have noticed that often I feel like I am trying to jam information into my head that isn’t wanting to compute correctly. I found many habits that I want to incorporate into my study life as I read the chapters this week. Studying before you go to sleep thus allows the information to be stored more efficiently. I have never thought of this before, but it makes so much sense. Allowing your brain to rest and make sense of what it has just learned is brilliant. Also, I found that answering review questions, not just memorizing the answers but actively seeking the answers myself, engages my brain and allows my memory to remember the answer. Doing both of these new study habits will hopefully help me be able to retain the information. I am learning and becoming a better student and studying more efficiently.

    Student #2

The readings on memory and learning this week have led me to understand that some of my methods for studying may not be as effective as I thought they were. The biggest area I have recognized as being ineffective has been my tendency towards passive review, reviewing notes, highlighting them, and simply looking over them again. The readings on encoding and retrieval have led me to understand that this type of review may make information seem familiar, but it doesn’t necessarily lead to deeper processing for long-term retention. I have also recognized that I tend to cram for exams, which overburdens working memory and doesn’t leave much room for information to be stored in long-term memory.

Another weakness is related to divided attention. I personally like to study with music, notifications, or background noise, thinking that I can multitask. The literature on attention, particularly related to the capacity of processing and the central executive, made me realize that multitasking leads to a decrease in the quality of encoding. Even small distractions can interfere with the joining of high-quality memory traces.

From what I have learned, I know that there are steps that I can take to better store and retrieve information. First, I will attempt to move from a passive review process to an active retrieval process. This includes methods such as self-testing, using flashcards, and summarizing the information in my own words. Spaced repetition is another strategy I plan to use, because spreading out study sessions allows memories to consolidate and reduces the forgetting curve.

I also need to limit cognitive load by reducing distractions. In addition, turning off the notifications, studying in a quieter area, and setting up a particular interval for studying will ensure that my working memory stays engaged with the information. Finally, I will utilize elaborative encoding, which entails associating the new information with examples, experiences, and past knowledge. Overall, this week helped me see that improving my study habits is less about working harder and more about working with the brains natural memory systems.
