Your Assignment

Review the Reflection on Research Topics Handout to guide you through selecting a relevant topic that aligns with your interests.

After you select a topic, conduct preliminary research to answer the following types of questions:

1. What research questions have already been addressed in your chosen topic area?

2. What are some of the current findings in your chosen area?

3. Are there many or few existing studies in your chosen area?

4. What systematic literature reviews (if any) have already been conducted that relate to your topic?

Develop a research question(s) to explore as the topic of your systematic literature review.

The research question(s) should include the population, independent variable, identify a comparison (if applicable), and/or outcome.

Population = individuals/subjects of interest

Independent variable = intervention or specific variable of exploration

Comparison = if comparing the independent variable to another variable

Outcome = the hypothesized/expected outcome/goal

Write a 4-6 page paper that presents your chosen topic area, the background information relating to the area (based on your preliminary research), your specific research question, and how your question will fill a gap in the literature and/or address a practical need that will benefit the field.

Submit your initial assignment for feedback and review.

After receiving feedback from the instructor, make any needed revisions to your assignment and resubmit to your instructor for approval and permission to proceed to the next step.

Assignment Formatting Instructions

File Format: Submit your assignment as a Word Document (.doc or .docx).

Font and Size: Use Times New Roman, 12-point font throughout your document.

Formatting and Style: Your assignment must follow APA format, which includes:

Proper margins, spacing, and section headings.

Adherance to the APA Publication Style and Grammar Guidelines.

A proper heading on the first page of your paper.

In-text citations and include a reference list to support the methods or procedures you discuss.

Assignment Submission Instructions

To submit your assignment, please click on the Add submission button located at the bottom of this page. You will be prompted to select a file to be submitted. (Note that you can drag and drop your file into the Files area or you can use the File picker to navigate to and select your file.) Then, click on the Save changes button. From this point, you have the option to either edit your answers by clicking on the Edit submission button or to submit by clicking on the Submit assignment button. Please note that your assignment is not submitted until you click on the Submit assignment button. Then, you will be prompted to confirm by clicking the Continue button. (You may need to scroll down).
