    Requirements: as follows

  • Opioid prescribing guidelines

The purpose of this assignment is to apply opiate prescribing guidelines in individual nursing practice. You are required to interview a pharmacist to complete Part Three of this paper. Write a 1,500-2,000-word paper that addresses the following:

    Part One

Using the “CDC Clinical Practice Guideline for Prescribing Opioids for Pain – United States, 2022,” located in the topic Resources, and guidelines from the state in which you reside to complete this portion of the assignment, explain how you would incorporate the prescription guidelines into your practice when caring for patients, communities, and populations. In your explanation, include a patient scenario for the following:

    • Summary guidelines for the treatment of acute pain versus chronic pain
    • Elaborated guidelines for the treatment of acute pain and chronic pain

    Part Two

Using the “CDC Clinical Practice Guideline for Prescribing Opioids for Pain – United States, 2022,” located in the topic Resources, and guidelines from the state in which you reside, explain how you would implement the guidelines into your clinical practice. In your explanation include a patient scenario that addresses how to practice the following:

    • Implement these guidelines into clinical flow.
    • Evaluate if an “inherited patient” is on an appropriate opioid therapy.
    • Manage an “inherited patient” on an excessive opioid therapy.
    • Connect patients with medication-assisted treatment.
    • Approach an opioid exit strategy.
    • Manage pain and opioids in special populations.
    • Connect with local and national resources.
    • Through collaboration, correct clinical misperceptions by providers, patients, and the public about opioids.

    Part Three

Interview an outpatient pharmacist, and if possible, shadow the pharmacist. Describe the exchange in Part Three of your paper. Use the prompts listed below during your interview and consider asking follow-up questions to gain deeper insights.

    • How do you make opioid therapy a positive experience?
    • What key elements must be included in a prescription for scheduled medications?
    • Do you treat Schedule II in the manner as Schedule III-V? What is the difference between Schedule II-V drugs?
    • What are the main issues you see with problematic opioid prescriptions that could have been prevented by the prescriber? What issues do you find yourself calling the provider for?
    • What are the barriers or issues that would prevent patients from receiving their opioid prescription?
    • In your opinion, how can the opioid prescription process between the provider, pharmacy, and patient be improved?
    • How does a pharmacist incorporate a prescription monitoring program (PMP) in their daily practice?
    • Describe the components of the PMP, including milligram morphine equivalent (MME).
    • Create two additional questions that will enrich your interview and include the discussion in your paper.

    General Requirements

  • Decision Tree

Build a decision tree based on the following scenario. OM, Inc., a manufacturer of widgets, is considering the possibility of producing a new super-duper widget. However, they cannot decide between using an automatic 3D printing manufacturing technique or producing the widgets by traditional methods. This new project will require OM, Inc. to either purchase a high-end 3D printer or hire and train four additional employees. The market for the new widget could be either favorable or unfavorable. Ultimately, OM, Inc. can also decide not to develop the new widget. Sales for favorable customer acceptance would be 20,000 widgets selling for $1,900 each. With unfavorable acceptance, sales of the widgets would only be 4,000 widgets at a selling price of $1,900 each. The initial setup cost of the 3D printing system is $2,000,000; however, the hiring and training of the four new employees would cost only $400,000. In the end, manufacturing costs are $1,700 for each widget when manufacturing without 3D printing and $1,500 each when 3D printed. The probability of favorable acceptance of the new widgets is .30; the probability of unfavorable acceptance is.70. Before you start building your decision tree, review the How to Build a Decision Tree in Excel OM example presentation narrated by the course developer, Dr. Bob Walton.

    • Writing Arguments: A Rhetoric with Readings 11e
    • Part Four: Arguments in Depth: Types of Claims
    • Chapter 11 An Introduction to the Types of Claims p. 212-220
    • Chapter 12 Definition and Resemblance Arguments p. 221-240
    • Chapter 13 Causal Arguments p. 250-265
    • Chapter 14 Evaluation and Ethical Arguments p. 280-294
    • Chapter 15 Proposal Arguments p. 306-323

    Description:

This week you will be introduced to the six core argument types while building upon your knowledge of the rhetorical situation and avoiding fallacious reasoning. We are going to take a deep dive into making hybrid arguments. This is going to require you to identify each type of argument claim (e.g. Definition, resemblance, causal, evaluation, ethical, and proposal) and connect this argument to an audience. As you read and work through this week, consider the reflexive relationship between moving an audience and changing your rhetoric.

    Instructions:

You will need to post initial responses and peer responses in a timely manner, responding to instructor discussion threads/prompts or posting uniquely generated content.

    Initial Post:

    Instructor Prompt #1:

When the authors describe argument as Hybrid what do you think they are referring to? What does this look like? And how do you practice it? Now that you are familiar with the six core argument types, what are the expectations when we are trying to reach new audiences? Use examples from Part Four: Arguments in Depth/Types of Claims as evidence to support you answers.

    Instructor Prompt #2:

Now that you are familiar with the six core argument types, I want you to think about what they look like in practice through completing the following exercise:

    Part A:

    • Below are a list of highly politicized arguments that you likely have personal thoughts, ideas, convictions regarding, and have aligned with a particular camp/side.
    • For this exercise, your personal ideology or opinion is not important but rather Im asking you to imagine how an audience would react using a claim type.
    • Please select ONE of the following topics and imagine how 1) someone who supports the issue and 2) someone who opposes the issue would argue. I want you to think about the popular arguments surrounding these issues and do your best to link them to one of the six claim types. You dont need to invent and argument type or reason pro/con because these arguments are everywhere in the US.

Anti-Vaccination, Building a Wall Between the US & Mexico, Legality of Abortion, Free College Tuition, Limiting Gun Rights, Self Driving Vehicles, Paying College Athletes a Salary, Vegetarianism/Food Sustainability, Bias News Media (Fake News/Post-Truth), Kneeling for the National Anthem (professional sports), Eco-Taxation (penalizing companies who dont follow emission standards), Banning Cigarettes or E-Cigs (vaping, etc), The Legalization of Marijuana.

Part B: Frequently in culture, politics, and even interpersonal argument situations, instead of hybridizing an argument, we tend to just make our Rhetoric louder. Please evaluate this statement (whether or not you agree or disagree with it) and explain how does this statement relate to the exercise you did in Part A?
