    Week 9 discussion

In the discussion discuss three major leadership theories. Tell us which of the three do you feel best fits the organization and your leadership style. The talk about how you would integrate this theory into your everyday leadership style.

    1-

Among the various leadership theories that exist, the following three are popularly mentioned: Trait Theory, Behavioral Theory, and Transformational Leadership Theory. The Trait Theory mainly involves the qualities associated with being a leader that someone might possess right from birth including qualities like self confidence, intelligence, and determination. The main idea behind Trait Theory is that leadership abilities are based on inherent qualities of a person rather than learned capabilities. The second is behavioral Theory, which suggests that leadership is something that is learned and developed due to specific actions and behaviors. In this regard, there is focus on the actions taken rather than the qualities of the individual involved, as in case of trait theory. Task oriented and people oriented are examples of leadership styles covered in behavioral leadership theory. Transformational Leadership Theory involves leadership practices that motivate and inspire followers to strive for excellence and success.

Among the three theories discussed above, it can be stated that Transformational Leadership Theory is more relevant to my own style of leadership as well as leadership style that can help organizations achieve success. Motivation, trust, and cooperation are some of the values emphasized in Transformational Leadership Theory.

In order to adopt the principles of Transformational Leadership Theory in my own leadership practices, I will be focusing on communicating goals effectively, mentoring my colleagues to ensure their professional growth, and acknowledging their successes in order to maintain motivation. Apart from this, it is important to foster creativity and open communication among all employees, while leading by example and maintaining positivity.

    2-

The three major leadership theories include, transactional theory, transformational theory, and servant leadership theory. Transactional theory emphasizes on the need for exchanges that takes place between the followers and the leaders. These exchanges permit leaders to maintain the present organization performance, accomplish the needed tasks, accomplish their goals, motivate their followers using contractual agreements, focus on extrinsic rewards, improve efficiency in the organization and avoid unnecessary risks. In exchange, the transactional leaders permit their followers’ interests by reducing workplace anxiety, fulfilling their own self-interest and focusing on clear organizational objectives like increased production, reduced costs, quality customer services and increased quality (Khan et al., 2026). Transformational theory on the contrary deals with the need for both leaders and followers to contribute to the greater good of the organization. Transformational leaders raise the morale and motivation of all individuals in the organization. In other words, transformational leadership focuses on followers engagement, and commitment to attain to goals and the objectives of the organization by being part of the established system. Servant leaders desire to practice leadership by serving first rather than leading. They tend to seek ways of transforming their followers into being freer, wiser, healthier and more autonomous.

My organization applies the transformational theory of leadership. This is because both the followers and the leaders assume their individual gains to ensure the operations of the organization run smoothly. The leaders also focus on followers inputs and needs with the aim of transforming them into leaders by motivating and empowering them. Transformational leadership also has the advantage of creating a vision guiding the change, identify the need for change and acquire commitment and agreement of others. I would integrate this theory into my practice by treating my followers individually and seeks to develop their skills, morals and consciousness by offering significance to their challenges and work.

Analysis of Leadership Theories and Their Application

I will discuss three major theories of leadership: Transformational Leadership, Transactional Leadership, and Servant Leadership. Transformational Leadership is people-based and service-oriented, focusing on employee productivity and motivation. On the other hand, Transitional Leadership is more pertinent towards order, regulations, and performance-based rewards or punishments in its efforts to attain the desired objectives. Lastly, the style of Servant Leadership is founded on the well-being and development of the team members, with the main focus on empathy and empowerment. All the theories have provided leadership practices applicable to organizational designs based on the quality of objectives and needs.

Personally, I think Transformational Leadership is applicable to my organization and is a management style. The values of my organization are growth, innovation, and empowerment of employees, which appear to align with the transformational leadership values since they imply the ability to inspire and encourage employees towards achieving the shared purpose. I can make the best out of individuals, and I have every qualification to inspire people. In applying this theory in the practical part of leadership, I would ensure we have a time-sensitive, innovative vision that can be shared and that we provide constructive feedback. Frequent visits would help the organization stay on course toward where they want to be, and I would also reward success to create a culture of appreciation and growth. It would provide me with an opportunity to empower my personnel and bring the organization to success.

Three essential leadership theories exist, which guide a leader in leading the organization. Transformational leadership inspires followers to go beyond their self-interests in achieving goals. Servant leadership prioritizes the needs of followers over ones own because leadership expert Robert Greenleaf believed that when people feel supported, performance follows. Hersey and Blanchard developed the concept of situational leadership. In this, an effective leader adapts his style based on the followers competence and commitment levels. The leader may direct, coach, support, and delegate depending on the situation.

My organizations leadership style and mine are best suited to transformational leadership. Today’s rapidly changing environments require much more than managing tasks. They require leaders who create authentic commitment and connect people with purpose. To apply this in my own day-to-day leadership, I would start meetings where someone presents some work we are doing every week and links it to our big-picture mission. Have very regular one-on-ones that focus on what can help the person grow more, and finally ensure a space for innovative thinking where people are not scared to speak up for fear of ridicule. I will also demonstrate accountability and publicly acknowledge contributions that are consistent with our values. This approach makes sure that transformational leadership is something people do every day.

Complete your first entry. You can choose any of the four spheres for this entry, but you will need to complete all four by the end of the course. Remember that youll need to submit your completed nursing reflection as part of the final assessment for the course.

    Instructions

You will complete four reflective journal entries during your practicum, with an emphasis on the integration of professional standards and values in practice. Each entry will align with one of the four spheres of care.

Begin your new responses for NURS-FPX4905 .

Use 200400 words for each of the four required journal entries in the . In this course, remember to respond from a perspective of leadership and professional standards.

You do not need to include scholarly resources or a reference list. Your reflections should be your own original thoughts. Please do not include patient or clinic identifying information. Do not use your previous reflection journal entries.

As you complete your practicum hours (a total of 40 hours is required), it is good practice to complete a reflection journal entry every 10 hours. Take a moment to review the four spheres of care and the assigned readings for each assessment. This can help you focus your practicum time on specifics of learning and experiencing the courseroom content.

AACN Definition of the Four Spheres of Care

Wellness and Disease Prevention: This sphere emphasizes health promotion, as well as the treatment of minor uncomplicated diseases or injuries for those not experiencing chronic illness or life-limiting conditions. Prenatal care, screenings, immunizations, and health promotion are some examples of care in this sphere (AACN, 2021). Nursing knowledge and competency in disease prevention and addressing social determinants of health are vital to promoting wellness across populations.

Chronic Disease Management: This sphere encompasses caring for those with one or more chronic diseases and preventing adverse outcomes associated with them. Specialized nursing care is often needed for this population due to the complex needs, along with integrated interprofessional team-based care. Four in 10 people in the United States have two or more chronic diseases, and those diagnosed with multiple comorbidities are projected to increase.

Regenerative and Restorative Care: This sphere includes critical and trauma care, complex acute care, acute exacerbations of chronic disease, and care of unstable patients who are typically in acute care hospital settings (AACN, 2021). This sphere includes the acute management of illness, such as a stroke or mental health crisis, and progression through the rehabilitative phase. Nursing skills and management of these populations are resource-intensive and specialized.

Hospice and Palliative Care: The final sphere relates to competencies surrounding palliative care in advanced illness and hospice care at the end of life. All registered nurses provide generalist palliative care in compassionate and patient-centered care while managing pain and other symptoms associated with advanced, progressive illnesses. The End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium has mapped its competencies and recommendations for educating nursing students to the new AACN Essentials to assist educators in this endeavor.

    Reflection Questions

By the end of your practicum, make sure that you have answered each of these questions as they relate to integrating professional standards and values into practice.

Wellness and Disease Prevention: Reflect on the health promotion disease prevention interventions you witnessed in your practicum site, as it relates to the social determinants of health most prevalent in your community. What did you see? What does this time mean to you as a professional nurse in your role?

Chronic Disease Management: Reflect on the integration of interprofessional team-based care as it relates to chronic disease management in your practicum site. What did you see? What does this time mean to you as a professional nurse in your role?

Regenerative and Restorative Care: Reflect on the acute management of illnesses such as stroke or mental illness that falls in your practicum site. What did you see? What does this time mean to you as a professional nurse in your role?

Hospice and Palliative Care: Reflect on end-of-life nursing and advanced illness and hospice care in your practicum site. What did you see? What does this time mean to you as a professional nurse in your role?

Ariel: The construction of Red Bull Arena demonstrates how modern stadium projects integrate complex engineering solutions with efficient building practices. One of the most critical aspects of the project was site preparation, as the arena was built on a former industrial brownfield. This required extensive geotechnical work, including the installation of thousands of timber piles to stabilize the soil and create a reliable foundation system. Such groundwork highlights the importance of subsurface analysis and soil remediation in large-scale construction, particularly when repurposing previously developed land (Coduto et al., 2016).

The structural system of the arena relied heavily on steel framing and precast concrete elements, which allowed for rapid assembly and improved quality control. Prefabrication played a key role in accelerating construction timelines, as major components could be manufactured off-site and installed efficiently. Additionally, the stadiums cantilevered roof system utilized lightweight tensile membrane materials, reducing structural load while still providing weather protection and enhancing acoustics. This approach reflects broader trends in stadium construction, where innovative materials and long-span structures are used to improve both performance and spectator experience (Ching, 2014).

Overall, the construction of Red Bull Arena illustrates the coordination required between geotechnical engineering, structural design, and material selection. By combining advanced foundation techniques, efficient prefabrication methods, and modern roofing systems, the project serves as a strong example of contemporary sports facility construction. These elements not only ensured structural integrity but also contributed to the arenas functionality and long-term durability.

    Construction of Red Bull Arena

    Jenna Donovan

The construction of Red Bull Arena shows how much planning and work goes into building a sports facility. One of the first important steps is preparing the site. The stadium was built on land that used to be an industrial area, so the ground had to be stabilized before construction could begin. This is important because the foundation needs to be strong enough to support the entire stadium and large crowds (Sports Illustrated Stadium, n.d.).

Another major part of construction is using strong materials like steel. Red Bull Arena used a large amount of steel to build the main structure. This supports the seating, roof, and overall design of the stadium. The roof is also an important feature because it covers the seating area while still letting in natural light (Birdair, 2010). This shows that construction is not just about strength, but also about making the stadium functional.

The construction process also involves many different people working together, including engineers, contractors, and designers. Each step has to be carefully planned so the project stays on time and within budget. Systems like drainage and the playing field are also important to make sure the stadium is safe and usable.

Overall, the construction of Red Bull Arena shows how important it is to have a strong foundation, use the right materials, and stay organized throughout the process.
