ABA 502 Basic Elements of Applied Behavior Foundations

INSTRUCTION FOR THE CLASSROOM

Final work Literature review and research proposal

1215 pages | 250 points

This final work is the final project of ABA 502. It is a comprehensive literature review and an original research proposal that demonstrates its mastery of experimental behavioral analysis (EAB).

You are going to:

Critically analyze a selected domain within EAB

Integrate classical, modern and conceptual studies.

Identify a significant research gap

Propose an original study with an experimental basis.

Analyze the philosophical implications of your proposal

Show your ability to think like a behavioral scientist.

This work is based directly on the mini bibliographic review and the outline of the proposal. You are expected to review and expand the above tasks using the instructor’s feedback.

This is not an applied intervention document.

It must reflect experimental analysis and conceptual rigor.

Length and format requirements

1215 full pages (excluding title page and references)

Minimum 12 academic sources

At least 3 classics

At least 5 modern empirical studies

At least 2 conceptual/theoretical

APA format 7th edition required

Double space

Appropriate headers and subheaders

List of references included

SCHEME OF THE WORK REQUIRED

I. Introduction and justification (1 to 2 pages)

(30 points)

It must include:

Clear statement of the research domain

Explanation of its importance within EAB

Identification of a conceptual or empirical gap

Clear transition to your research question

II. Comprehensive literature review (5 to 7 pages)

(80 points higher weight)

This section should demonstrate synthesis, not summary.

Required components:

A. Classic fundamentals

Discuss fundamental experiments

Explain what they demonstrated

Clarify how the principles were established

B. Modern extensions

Discuss contemporary empirical studies

Identify methodological or conceptual changes

Explain how understanding evolved

C. Conceptual/theoretical analysis

Addressing conceptual debates

Identify limitations in previous investigations

Clarify tensions or theoretical refinements

III. Research proposal (45 pages)

(65 points)

A. Research question and hypothesis

A clearly stated and experimentally verifiable hypothesis

Directly based on literature

Clearly extens previous research

B. Independent variable

Operational definition

Handling procedure

Justification based on literature

C. Dependent variable

Operational definition

Measurement dimension (rate, duration, latency, etc.)

Data collection system

D. Experimental design

Type of design (e.g., investment, multi-element, concurrent programming)

Justification of design selection

How experimental control will be demonstrated

Threats to internal validity

IV. Philosophical implications (23 pages)

(40 points)

This is where the depth of the postgraduate level is demonstrated.

You must go to:

Determinism

Empiricism

Parsimony

Selectionism

Pragmatism

Explain:

How your proposal reflects these assumptions

What it implies about behavioral causality

How it contributes to cumulative scientific knowledge

Are there conceptual risks or philosophical tensions?

V. Conclusion (1 page)

Summarize the contribution

Highlight the scientific importance

Brief future direction of research
