This assessment will consist of completing two short comparison essays based off two instructor selected works of art taken from the Arts in Time (Chapters 14-18) sections of the Getlein course text.
Please divided your submission into the sections using Roman numerals as indicated below:
I. Give the basic label information (artist name, title, date/period, medium, location) for the two works provided (Not included in total page length noted below).
II. In essay format please compare the two works using the sociocultural method of analysis: subject matter descriptions, historical context, applicable themes of art, any iconography, and content (1-2 pages in length; double spaced with standard margins and 12 point font).
III. In essay format please compare the same two works using the formal method of analysis: applicable visual elements and principles of design, brief discussion of techniques and processes, materials and tools used along with manner of representation (1-2 pages in length; double spaced with standard margins and 12 point font).
This exam is worth a possible 150 points. Please submit as a single file either in MS Word or Adobe PDF format with your name for the file name.
Please NOTE: No credit will be given for test answers that use other art works. This is to be in your own words without use of AI. If using any outside sources you must also include proper in-text citation and a bibliography.
