Global Engagement Assignment
One challenge for sociologists is to translate their knowledge of conditions producing social issues into concrete measures to improve them. In this assignment, you will work with a few classmates to gather online sources that provide data and propose policies to address a specific social issue. Then, as individuals, you will compose a letter to send to local, state, and/or national representatives in support of a particular policy or approach. Through this assignment you will sharpen your sociological imagination and, by applying it, you will put into practice sociologys principle that the personal is political.
Individual work
Drawing on the resources your group has collected, each student will write a letter individually to a state or local representative (US Senator, US Representative, Governor, County Commissioner, City Mayor, etc.). You must describe the issue briefly. You must also take a position on the issue, supporting your position by referencing some form of data or research. Be sure to present a specific data point, clearly indicating the source of data (include the title of publication, publication outlet, and author’s name somewhere in the letter). Your position could involve supporting a specific policy change or increasing or decreasing funding for a particular program (try searching online for current legislation or proposals). Your letter must be grammatically correct and proofread. Your letter must include the name and address of a state or local representative. Your letter must be at least 300 words long (it is best to be concise, but still strong).
You will submit the letter individually via Canvas by the end of Module 7.
You will receive feedback on how to improve the letter. It is up to you whether or not to actually send it. Hopefully it will be something you are proud of and feel strongly enough about to send.

Writing Questions
Question-1:
Many politicians speak about income inequality and propose solutions that revolve around directly taking from the top 1 percent (e.g., higher income or wealth taxes) to provide to programs (e.g., free college) for the 99 percent. Set those policies aside for a moment. Brainstorm policies that would focus on increasing income mobility.
Note: Your answer should be a minimum of 5-6 pages in total and include a minimum of 3-4 references. APA format, and no plagiarism or AI content is allowed.
Question-2:
Oil prices are highly sensitive to output changes. Hurricanes, terrorist acts, and other unexpected occurrences regularly cause the price of oil to increase by 10 percent within the course of a month, only to fall again when the trouble subsides. Should the federal government use its strategic petroleum reserve to counter these effects, or should it use the reserve only in a true emergency?
Note: Your answer should be a minimum of 5-6 pages in total and include a minimum of 3-4 references. APA format, and no plagiarism or AI content is allowed.
Note:
- Content should be clear, concise, and understandable in APA format
- No plagiarism or AI content is allowed.
- Please follow the minimum number of pages and include a minimum number of references.
- Check for any grammatical errors and sentence structure.

– Please do not use so sophisticated, elegant, difficult, BOT sounding, AI generated looking word choice.
– Use proper grammar, regular word choice as long as it makes sense and its written academically correctly. I WANT LENGTHY PARAGRAPHS.
You will conduct a participant observation based on a film assigned each week. The goal is to gather data that helps answer a guiding question related to one or more of the course themes above.

The Gasoline Market
Topic: The Gasoline Market
It would seem that there is a global consensus that investment is needed in the search for efficient alternative energy sources to replace the use of fossil fuels.
Why has this become a global priority?
What factors determine the supply of gasoline? Explain whether the relationship between each of these determinants is direct (positive) or inverse (negative).
What factors determine the demand for gasoline? Explain whether the relationship between each of these determinants is direct (positive) or inverse (negative).
According to your short-term forecasts, if electric cars were cheaper than conventional cars (those that use gasoline),
What would happen to the demand for conventional cars?
What would happen to the demand for gasoline?
As a consequence, what would happen to the price of gasoline? Is the change in the price of gasoline due to a shortage (high cost) or a surplus of gasoline in the market? What would happen to the quantity of gasoline demanded?
What would happen to the quantity of gasoline supplied?
Note: Please note that this assignment is not open-ended.
Answer all the questions posed in the topic statement.
To answer each question, select the scenario (graph) from the supply and demand model (A, B, C, or D) that best illustrates your arguments about the impact of the decrease in the cost of electric cars on the gasoline market.
Supply and Demand Graphs with Detailed Explanation.doc
Attention: This week’s topic aims to provide you with the opportunity to reflect on how markets function. To do this, you should explore and familiarize yourself with the supply and demand model. The supply and demand model is a tool economists use to illustrate the behavior of the market for a good and to show the impact on prices and quantities of four possible scenarios: increased and decreased supply, and increased and decreased demand.

BIOL-111 Discussion board-Cancer
Cancer occurs when cells in the body grow and divide uncontrollably. Normally, cells follow a cycle that tells them when to grow, divide, and stop. When this process is disrupted, cancer can develop.
In your own words, explain what cancer is and how it develops in the body. What causes normal cells to become cancerous? Identify at least one risk factor (such as smoking, UV exposure, or genetics) and explain how it can increase the chances of developing cancer. Finally, share one way cancer can be treated or prevented.
Write at least 100150 words, do not include any citations.
Use your own words and give clear explanations.
