  • Alternative Assignment

In todays globalized economy, few careers operate independently of international markets, cultures, regulations, and economic systems. For this assignment, students will write a 5-page analytical paper examining how international business has the potential to impact their anticipated career path. The paper should begin with an overview of the students expected career trajectory, including industry, functional area, and long-term professional goals, followed by an explanation of why this path is of interest. Students should then analyze the global context of their chosen career by discussing how globalization, international trade, multinational organizations, and key global trends, economic, political, technological, or social, may influence their field.

The paper must apply at least three international business concepts or frameworks covered in the course and explain how these concepts affect strategic decision-making, leadership, operations, or performance in the students anticipated career. Students should also evaluate potential opportunities and challenges created by international business, such as cross-border growth, cultural differences, regulatory complexity, geopolitical risk, or ethical considerations, and conclude with a reflection on how an understanding of international business will contribute to their professional development, including skills or competencies needed to succeed in a global environment.

Students currently employed by AdventHealth and enrolled in the MBA/MHA program may contextualize this assignment within health care administration rather than a traditional corporate career path. These students are encouraged to discuss how international business concepts, such as global health systems, international supply chains, multinational healthcare organizations, cross-border regulatory environments, workforce mobility, global public health challenges, medical tourism, or international partnerships, could impact their current or anticipated careers in healthcare leadership and administration. Students may draw on professional experience where appropriate, while maintaining confidentiality and adhering to organizational policies. The paper should be 5 full pages, double-spaced, using 12-point Times New Roman font, 1-inch margins, and an established citation style, with a minimum of five credible academic or professional sources.

To give better context I am in the MBA/MHA program with AdventHealth and the career I am pursuing currently is I am an Epic Clinical Analyst. My future goals is to work my way up to leadership such as a manager and then even a director role. I have attached the textbook and the citation for reference and to be one of the sources.

  • Comm Studies Reflection

Communication Studies at Rowan University explores how people, communities, and technology

shape the messages we send and receive. Our program is designed to help students understand

communications role in identity, relationships, culture, media, and civic life, and to foster

    thoughtful, ethical, and engaged communicators.

For this reflection, you will articulate your own academic and professional interests within the

broad field of communication. This is an opportunity to consider why you chose (or are

considering) this major, what aspects youre passionate about, and what questions or goals you

have for your future skills and career preparation.

In this 4-5 page (double-spaced) reflection, you will want to identify specific areas of study

within communication that excite you most, what skills you hope to develop through these

courses, and please include questions that you have about specific career/academic paths.

This reflection should be in first person.

Example questions to answer in the reflection:

What are your professional goals? How will the communication studies major aid you in

the process? What are you seeking to learn, or become an expert in?

What communication contexts spark the most interest?

Do you feel more called to the social science or humanistic method of inquiry?

What types of scholarly articles are you interested in?

  • Discussion post

Learning Goal: I’m working on a management discussion question and need the explanation and answer to help me learn.

This discussion involves selecting one type of business and comparing and contrasting three different forms of establishing the business; as a new venture, purchase of an existing business, purchasing a franchise of the business. For example, if you decide to enter into the hamburger business, I want you to compare and contrast all elements of the business plan for establishing a new hamburger business, purchasing an existing hamburger business (you need to find an existing business of this type for sale online) and the purchase of a hamburger franchise business. Take into consideration the following: 1) the brand of the franchise, 2) the demand for the product/service being sold, 3) the cost of the franchise, 4) the franchise requirements such as initial capital, 5) training offered, 6) track record of the franchise, 7) the commissions you are expected to pay the franchise (typically this is a percent of sales), and 8) the amount of marketing performed by the franchise. Please note that this is not a comprehensive list of considerations; your grade will be determined by the level of detail in your analysis. The objective of this homework is twofold: 1) to make you more aware of the pros and cons of different entry forms into an industry, and 2) for you to get used to analyzing an opportunity, the industry, market research and segmentation, marketing plan, operations plan and financial plan.

  • Argument evaluation

    Overview

In this unit, we will discuss critical thinking (cognitive biases, fact and opinion, objective/ subjective statements, and identifying the issue at hand). We will also be reading two opposing opinion pieces on Artificial Intelligence. We will read multiple texts that talk about the need to observe and think critically about what we view and hear, and we will discuss strategies scholars suggest using when engaging with media and information.

    Purpose

The purpose of this assignment is to enter a conversation with the sources we have discussed in class. This project will allow you to create an argument that is supported by critical thinking/reasoning as you engage with other texts (an important aspect of academic writing).

    Assignment

The focus of your Essay will be to compare two positions on AI and determine which is more valid:

    1. Choose either to evaluate The College Essay is Dead, and The College Essay is Still Very Much Alive,
    2. or The Plateauing AI and Transformative AI. These articles are found in the menu item called “Files” in
    3. Canvas > AI Articles.
    4. Decide which author makes the best case and provide your reasoning.
    5. Identify at least two arguments and two counterarguments from the authors.
    6. Explain why one argument is better than the other argument.
    7. Critique the premise and/or conclusion of each using points from Thinking Fast and Slow and Critical Thinking.
    8. Which specific critical thinking strategies helped you most in determining your choice?

Your thesis (and by extension, your essay) must reflect the scope of the assignment, meaning you will need a thesis that you can adequately and fully argue and develop in 4-5 complete pages in APA format. Your claims and argument will need to be critically thinking-based and will require you to explain your thought process to an intelligent but uninformed reader throughout the essay. I want this in your language, not AI text language, please. So, use your own personal critical reasoning, thinking, and writing skills.

    Suggested Tasks

    • The first thing you will need to do is decide your preferred stance.
    • How will you support your position?
    • What are the arguments and counterarguments?
    • You will want to make sure that you are able to bring in both reading sources, besides the two essays, that we’ve discussed in class as you present your argument.
    • Once you choose your position and your supporting arguments (the focus of the essay), find specific passages, quotes, or sections that are especially relevant to your argument.
    • Consider how you will use those texts. Will you use them to introduce the conversation? Will they be a main focal point of your argument? Will they be used as counterarguments or support for your own argument?

  • Weekly Response: Week 4

Recall from Monday’s reading and class discussion that Bradley Hooker thinks that a plausible approach to Rule Consequentialism (1) should endorse some kind of rule about preventing disasters/serious harms due to noncompliance, but (2) shouldn’t be too demanding (i.e., it shouldn’t require us to donate ALL of our discretionary income to effective charities, like Peter Singer’s act consequentialism demands of us). The reason why Hooker would reject a rule that says something like “donate all your discretionary income to charity when doing so is necessary to prevent disaster/serious harm due to non-compliance” is that he thinks there is a high “maintenance cost” of sustaining people’s commitment to that kind of rule and teaching it to the young. He thinks, due to human selfishness, this kind of rule could be successfully taught to and sustained in people only at great cost.

So, his argument looks something like this:

P1) Rules that have a high maintenance cost aren’t part of the optimific set.

P2) A super demanding rule about aiding those in need (e.g., donate all your discretionary income to charity when doing so is necessary to prevent disaster/serious harm due to non-compliance) has a high maintenance cost.

    C) A super demanding rule about aiding those in need isn’t part of the optimific set.

In your discussion post, I would like you to do a few things (and you must answer all questions to receive any credit):

    (1) Do you personally agree with P2 of Hooker’s argument? Why or why not? How might someone object to P2?
