    Discussion Prompt:

Please take some time to read the following passage from E. H. Carr’s book, What is History? first published in 1962. I would like you to comment on Carr’s definition, paying special attention to its relevance to the historian’s craft. Comment also on whether this passage has meaning for you. Please keep in mind that I could have pulled similar passages from dozens of other historians, but Carr’s book remains something of a classic.

  • How to Create an Effective Weekly Study Schedule

In Module 5, you wrote a rough draft explaining a familiar process. For your final project, you will revise and expand that draft into a complete five-paragraph paper. The final version must include 1-2 credible sources to help explain or support steps in your process. The selected sources will support your explanation, not replace it. Instructions You will revise the five-paragraph structured process paper completed in Module 05 by incorporating feedback from your instructor and 1-2 credible sources. Paragraph 1. Introduction: Introduce your process and why it matters. Give the reader a preview of the steps. Paragraph 2. Step 1 (Body 1): Explain the first step clearly. Use a source if it helps explain or support this step. Paragraph 3. Step 2 (Body 2): Explain the second step. Add a source if needed to expand or back up the explanation. Paragraph 4. Step 3 (Body 3): Explain the final step. Use a source if it helps add detail, tips, or evidence. Paragraph 5. Conclusion: Wrap up your explanation and remind the reader why this process is useful. Adding Sources Your sources should make your explanation stronger, clearer, or more complete by doing one or more of the following: Add a fact, statistic, or expert opinion that helps explain why a step is important Show that your advice is trustworthy (not just based on personal experience) Give a tip or example that supports one of your process steps Provide background that helps the reader understand your topic better Your sources should NOT: Take over your writing Be dropped in without explanation Go off-topic from your process You can use a government or health website, a news article or study, and an educational blog or how-to guide (if its trustworthy). Examples: A Mayo Clinic article that explains the benefits of hydration (if writing about a health routine) A government budgeting guide (if writing about financial planning) Citation Requirement You must make an effort to cite your sources in APA.
