The index of economic freedom dataset (2026 version) includes 12 variables for each country which fall into 4 pillars:Pillar#1 Rule of law- property rights, judicial effectiveness, and government integrity.Pillar#2 Government Size- tax burden, government spending, and fiscal health.Pillar#3 Regulatory Efficiency- Business freedom, labour freedom, and monetary freedom.Pillar#4 Open Markets- trade freedom, investment freedom, and financial freedom. One would refer to these 12 variables as the pillar variables. All these variables are index scores from 0 to 100. They are combined into an overall score and the name of the country and region of the world (Pacific, Europe, etc) are also given. See for further details. Task- Linear Models.Make sure you work through the checkpoint #2 Example and Exercises before you attempt this task. Include any R code and output directly in your report (not as an appendix). Where possible you must use R code from the R tidytidyverse (as used in lab worksheets for this module). Eg use read_csv() nnot read.csv(). Dataset for task 2: economic_freedom_2026_indieconomic_freedom_2026_individual.csv. you wish to use the 12 pillar variables to predict overall score using linear models(regression) in R.we are primarily concerned with critically assessing any linear models proposed and with model selection (which predictors to include in any final linear models recommended).use the R package “olsrr” (where appropriate) to help carry out this task (see selection.html). Throughout this task, please take every opportunity to investigate the effect of region in your plots. 1) Briefly explain the acronym “AIC” used to compare models, why it is needed and how it is defined. Make sure you cite any sources used. 2) consider the following linear models.compare these models and summarise your results in a compact table. Include any R code and output directly in your report. You must clearly (i) justify, (ii) specify, (iii)fit, (iv) interpret and (v) critically evaluate all of the linear models that you suggest. Briefly discuss and compare what you notice about the predictors included in each model. Model #1: The linear model using only fiscal health and trade freedom to predict overall score? JUSTIFY your answer. Model #2: The best linear model to predict overall score that uses at most four of the 12 pillar variables as predictors. Model #3: The best linear model to predict overall score that uses variables from at most two of the pillars . Model #4: The best two predictor linear model to predict overall score for each region separately. How do these predictors relate to the pillars and which of these would you recommend as the best model? 3) considering the diagnostic plots produced by autopilot () corresponding to at most two (carefully selected) linear models from part (2). Discuss whether any of the countries in the dataset need further investigation. Fully justify any recommendations you make (be specific). Including any criteria you have applied.

Conduct an environmental scan and write an assessment in which you focus on both the internal and external factors that could affect your success within your chosen industry.

After an organization has completed a SWOT analysis, it will carefully monitor both the internal and external environments to detect signs of opportunities and threats that could affect current and future plans. This environmental scanning can help an organization identify trends that are most likely to affect the industry, thereby allowing the development of a strategy for change. The right information, at the right time, can determine the future of an organization.

Note: Developing a strategic plan requires specific steps that need to be executed in a sequence. The assessments in this course are presented in order and should be completed in sequence.

Conduct a personal strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) analysis. In your analysis, consider the following:

    • What advantages do you have that others do not (skills, education, experience, certifications)?
    • What achievements are you most proud of?
    • What do you do better than anyone else?
    • What do you think others would see as your strengths?
    • Do you have special connections that others may not have?
    • What personal resources do you have available?

Be sure to consider how others see younot just how you see yourself.

    • Are there tasks you avoid doing because you do not feel confident doing them?
    • Do you have any negative work habits (often late, disorganized, easily stressed)?
    • Do you feel confident about your skills, experience, and education?
    • Do you have any personality traits that might hold you back? For example, do you have a fear of public speaking, yet work where you are expected to conduct regular meetings?

Again, consider how others see you.

    • Do you have a network of influential contacts that can help or offer advice?
    • Is there a need in your company or industry that no one else has been able to fill?
    • Are there trends in your company that you can use to your advantage?
    • Can you offer solutions to problems within your company?

    • What kind of obstacles are you facing at work?
    • Are there co-workers/colleagues competing with you for positions or projects?
    • Has the nature of your job changed?
    • Does technology pose a threat to your position?
    • Do any of your weaknesses pose a threat?
    • What threats to your overall plan are there?

Once you have completed your SWOT analysis, identify strategies that you can use to capitalize on your strengths and open up opportunities, and address ways you can minimize areas of weakness and eliminate threats. Consider asking a trusted peer or friend to review your SWOT analysis and provide you with honest feedback. Analyze the feedback you receive and include that analysis in your assessment. Were there aspects of the feedback that surprised you?

To successfully complete this assessment, you may need to do some research on writing a SWOT analysis. Format this assessment as a research paper following current APA guidelines for both style and citing sources, making sure that you also use correct grammar and mechanics. There is no required minimum or maximum page length; however, you should strive to be as detailed as possible in addressing each bullet point, while also being as clear and concise as possible.

By successfully completing this assessment, you will demonstrate your proficiency in the following course competencies:

    • Competency 3: Communicate effectively.
      • Write coherently to support a central idea in an appropriate format with correct grammar, usage, and mechanics.
    • Competency 4: Plan strategically.

Develop and write your personal mission statement.

A well-written mission statement can provide the momentum and motivation to take a company to the next level. The same is true of personal mission statements. If you thought about yourself as a company, what would you say about yourself? What values drive you? What is your marketing message? What is your reason for doing what you do?

While many organizations have mission statements, few individuals do. What is the purpose of a mission statement? How is it created? What types of things should go into a mission statement?

A lot of thought and reflection should go into the drafting of a mission statement, whether for an organization or an individual. Drafting a personal mission statement forces you to think deeply about your life and your experiences and helps you identify what really matters to you. It also serves to help clarify your values and goals, which then allows you to create a strategic plan for achieving your goals.

Note: Developing a strategic plan requires specific steps that need to be executed in a sequence. The assessments in this course are presented in order and should be completed in sequence.

Develop and write your own personal mission statement. Be clear about your passion, values, goals, and philosophies. Once you have your mission statement articulated, explain how it:

    • Expresses your image of yourself.
    • Expresses your values and philosophies.
    • Identifies what you have to offer.

Explain how your mission statement answers the following questions:

    • What are your economic goals?
    • What is your philosophy in terms of quality and image?
    • What are your core competencies and competitive advantages?
    • What “customers” do you serve best?
    • How do you view your responsibilities to those who rely on you?

Format this assessment as a research paper, following current APA guidelines for both styles and citing sources, making sure that you also use correct grammar and mechanics. There is no required minimum or maximum page length; however, you should strive to be as detailed as possible in addressing each bullet point while also being as clear and concise as possible.

By successfully completing this assessment, you will demonstrate your proficiency in the following course competencies and assessment criteria:

    • Competency 2: Participate collaboratively and respectfully.
      • Explain how a mission statement reflects a personal commitment to responsibility.
    • Competency 3: Communicate effectively.
      • Write coherently to support a central idea in an appropriate format with correct grammar, usage, and mechanics.
    • Competency 4: Plan strategically.
      • Develop a personal mission statement.
    • Competency 5: Employ high-performance business management techniques.
      • Explain how a mission statement reflects personal philosophy of quality and image.
      • Explain how a mission statement reflects personal core competencies.
      • Explain how a mission statement reflects personal competitive advantage.
      • Explain how a mission statement identifies a target customer.
    • Competency 7: Use appropriate financial models and principles.
      • Explain how a mission statement reflects personal economic goals.

The purpose of this assignment is to learn from the lived experiences of others with disabilities, while reflecting on ones own experiences and biases. Students will begin by reading or watching autobiographical accounts of people with disabilities (U.S. and Global) and document similarities/differences between these accounts on selected topical domains noted below. As you learn about disabled peoples lived experiences, you will begin to think about your own life experiences and how they compare/contrast, reflecting on your own biases and assumptions as you learn about others experiences.

that you must use for this assignment. The entire assignment will be approximately 3-5 pages.

Part 1 (First Person Accounts): After reading or watching autobiographical accounts of people with disabilities (US and Global), describe how these first-person accounts fit into your understandings from class discussions around discrimination, marginalization, and stigmatization of disability. First, describe which accounts you read and/or watched. Be sure to address at least two identities (race, class, gender, or SES), focusing on how intersections between identities affect the lived experiences of disabled people. Provide some examples from course materials to support your thinking. Please cite sources parenthetically using APA style and include sources in the references page at the end of the assignment. Make sure at least one of your stories is US-based, and one is global.

Part 2 (Comparison & Reflection): Using the chart below, compare and contrast your own life experiences with those from individuals with disabilities based on the first-hand accounts you explored above. Your comparison should focus on at least 3 of several possible domains including: Independent Living; Friendships/Social Supports; Sexuality; Health Care Access; Physical Access/Mobility; Employment; Adulting/Decision-Making; Gender/Race/Age; Other. You can complete the chart just as the example shows below–it is included in the APA-formatted template.

From the video X, Stacy lives in a residential home with other adults with disabilities. Its great that she is out of her home and that she has some control of some of her own decisions but I see that there are still care-takers who live in the home to take care of things that the others cannot do independently.

In the reading from X, Mariela lives with her mother as she cannot take care of some basic needs. She can bath and feed herself but because of her disability she cannot earn a living or take care of shopping, preparing foods, etc. to live independently.

As reflect on my own life, Ive come to understand that one freedom I have as a person without a significant disability is that I can live independently. Even though I have roommates, I can choose to live with others or by myself where the other accounts they do not appear to have this option as adults.

Part 3 (Assumptions & Biases): After completing Parts 1 and 2, conclude with a written reflection describing what assumptions or biases you had going into the reading/viewing and how your views have changed after reading/watching first-hand accounts in light of your own lived experiences. What do you now understand that you did not understand before? What surprised you, and how do those surprises reveal biases you may not have realized you had? Please cite sources parenthetically using APA style and include sources in the references page at the end of the assignment.
