Instructions
Author, individually and not as a group, a five-page paper on the design, application, statistical analysis, and interpretation of a content analysis. This content analysis is conducted on the iPhone 7. You will work, and have worked, as a group to design the coding dictionary and code reviews, and may work together on the statistical analyses if you wish. However, the writing of the paper should be completed individually. If you write less than 4.5 pages, you are not making use of the space available to you and will be deducted points. If you write more than 5.5 pages, you are writing too much and you will be deducted points. Your paper is therefore expected to be between 4.5 and 5.5 pages in length. This page count does not include the title page, reference page, or any appendix.
Note: the expectation is you write a paper in a research methods style.
- This means in the same style as the typical paper you have been reading in the readings for each week so far in the course.
- This means using citations to support claims, statements, facts or opinions you present. When you write the paper, do not write anywhere about the ‘assignment’ or ‘course/class’. Although you are writing this paper because of the course, you should not mention this in the paper.
- Also, do not use the prompts listed below as questions/sub-headings in your paper. For example, don’t write ‘Justify why you selected this issue’ in the paper and then answer this question. You answer this question in the course of writing your page 1 just as the articles in the readings you read answer this question without specifically writing ‘justify why you selected this issue.’
- The paper should be written in APA style. In this paper and other papers in the course, you should avoid personal stories about your personal experiences.
- You should stay close to the page specifications below but it is okay if a section is a few (23) lines shorter or longer than stated. In some cases, your method may be much shorter than the specified length in which case add additional text elsewhere in the paper to compensate.
- Do not make up statistics or information.
- The paper should be written in APA style. (Remember this means double-spaced). In this paper and other papers in the course, you should avoid personal stories about your personal experiences.
- An abstract is not needed for this paper or any papers in the course.
- You should not cite course materials (this includes live sessions).
Page 12: Intro
- Present a general surface level description of the issue the content will examine (references).
- Explain why understanding this case is important (references).
- Justify why you selected this issue (references).
- What specific question(s) are you trying to answer?
Page 3: Method
- Use this , also found in the instructional materials for the week, to format this section.
- Specify the variables you will code for. There should be one manifest variable and three latent variables.
- Design a code book for your variables. The detailed code book will be the appendix to your paper and does not count toward the page count. For each latent variable there should be a definition, keywords, and concrete examples.
- However, per the method template, much of the information from the code book in the appendix will be repeated in the method. The appendix does not need to be in APA style.
Page 4: Results
- Apply the content analysis nothing should be shown within the paper itself.
- All people in the group should apply the same coding scheme to the same reviews. These are the iPhone reviews you identified in Week 11 Checkpoint 1 remember, it is important everyone in the group is analyzing the same reviews. Code at least 20 reviews for your analysis. Each group member should upload the SPSS data file containing the results of the coding to Week 12 Checkpoint 1.
- Use statistical analyses you deem appropriate to analyze the data produced by the content analysis.
- Present the results of the statistical analyses in APA style. Also, if appropriate, present the results in tables.
- The analysis of the data from the content analysis can be completed as a group, pairs, threes, or individually. The same for the write-up of these results in APA style. (Remember in the SPSS assignment, you wrote up the results in APA style). Whether you work alone or with others for the results section has no direct impact on your grade. Your grade for the results section of your paper is determined by what is in your results section, whether you did this alone or with others. Please note: that means that if you have a mistake in your results section that was the result of you accepting/trusting the work of someone else, that is your responsibility and your paper grade is lowered. You cannot claim points back by arguing that someone else conducted that analysis or mis-wrote up the report. If the work is in your results section it is your responsibility.
- It is important to make sure the question/topic you pose in the introduction (pages 12) is answered at least in part by the results presented in the results section.
- There should be no SPSS output anywhere in the paper (this includes any Appendix). Everything your instructor needs from the data is in your APA style write-up or the master SPSS file that is uploaded.
- You do not need to have significant results. Significant results are often more interesting for your personally to write about but your grade is not determined by whether your results are significant or non-significant.
Page 5: Discussion
- Explain what your data means.
- Offer some tentative explanations as to why you think you found the data you did.
- Provide some suggested practical implications from your results.
- Include limitations of the study.
Note: Remember 1 inch margins and only Times New Roman 12 point font. If you need Tables these should go in an Appendix which is placed after the references. Official APA rules allow Tables to be embedded directly in the paper, such as in the results, but in this course all tables will go in the Appendix.

Selection of Reviews
As a group, we selected the first 20 Top reviews listed on Amazon for the iPhone 7. These reviews were chosen because they represent highly visible and socially validated evaluations, making them more likely to reflect dominant consumer interpretations rather than isolated or idiosyncratic opinions. This approach allows us to capture patterns that are more influential in shaping broader consumer perception.

- Leo (5 stars) Excellent Phone!
I was a little reluctant in the beginning as I’ve always used an android phone. My next phone was going to be the Galaxy Note 7, until as we all know was taken off the market. Since my wife is into iPhones, I decided to make a bold move and make the switch. It’s been over a month since I’ve been using the Iphone 7 and am absolutely amazed at the smoothness. The controls are a big difference so it takes me a little bit of time figuring out all the features. Camera, clarity of screen, touch response, music playback… It’s all there and with great quality. The only minor issue I have is that the Iphone does not support small pop-up windows to float around the screen for some particular apps I use.
- Debbie G. (3 stars) Used phone, doesn’t seem refurbished
Phones worked perfectly but came with deep scratches on screen. Did not come in the original box. Came with a used, extremely worn out charger and a cheap third party cable.
- John D. (5 stars) Not all are completely unlocked.
Be careful, I ordered this phone and it wasn’t an unlocked phone. It is set up on the US Reseller Flex Policy. It looked like it was purchased at Best Buy, “sim free”. I could not activate it with an international SIM Card. Luckily I found someone with a US Verizon SIM card to install during the activation process. Once it was activated with the Verizon card I was able to install my international Sim Card and everything worked. If you are looking to purchase one of these phones internationally make sure you have a US sim card to go through the activation process, or research the US Reseller Flex Policy.

This iPhone was sold as a new product but the item received was verified by Apple to be a used phone with unauthorized modifications. Upon receipt of the phone and after minimal use, the battery overheated due to product malfunction and expanded the phone’s screen away from the body causing the phone to no longer function. Do not buy this iPhone from this seller.
- Dennis L (1 star) Phone not working
The phone looks to be in good condition, but the screen has a very high blue appearance, the haptic feedback randomly stops working, the back camera will not focus on closer items (like a receipt) and the mike reportedly sounds garbled when talking on the phone. I would like to return.

I bought this after the iPhone 8 and 10 came out in order to get a decent price. Been very happy with it and see no reason for a newer model. I did buy a hard case with the battery back up which has been super but it holds the installed battery on its own fairly well. The seller was very good to work with.

This is probably what the iPhone 6 should’ve looked like from the beginning. That space grey was boringly ugly and though this looks much better, it’s just a little bit too late for me.
Rumors suggested a sexy deep blue or something, that would’ve kept me using this a tad longer and am sure Apple were about to do it … but anyways
the phone is the typical better than last year’s iPhone
better performance, not much better battery and a better camera
The performance and feel difference were great!
it just felt that much faster and felt way newer than previous upgrades have felt, the camera was way better, especially in low light and the battery was a typical iPhone batter
But there was nothing else to speak about regarding the device, you just get new software features which they optimize best for the new iPhone, so you’re basically buying the latest iOS operator rather than a new phone.
There is no discovery either, you just load your backup and here you are at exactly the same homescreen trying a couple of features that are probably cool, just not cool enough.
I was scared of moving to Android, my last attempt with the Nexus 6 failed epically due to the world famous crashes and a much much worse battery life, I may have had a faulty device but that was enough to stop me from getting one of my all time want phones, the Moto X Style Edition.
So I managed to get the Moto Z and use it with the iPhone 7 for a while using the same number on two different sim cards, it didn’t take me long to start reaching for the Moto Z and leave the iPhone at home all together … and just like that I moved to Android and I think I moved to Android at the right time cuz Android was sluggish and crashy, while iOS was snappy and reliable
and I think starting iOS 7, iPhones started to degrade a little faster and later iOS versions started to become just a little bit unstable
while Android starting from Marshmallow started getting a little bit more reliable and
- Colby (4 stars) Awesome phone!
Honestly I love the upgrade I made to the iPhone 7 (from iPhone 6). It is fast with the latest IOS 10 and I love the 128gb. I would not recommend getting the lowest space possible which is 32gb because it sucked having the 16gb iPhone 6. Also they did a study saying the 32gb model is slower as well. The one downside I have about the phone is the phone is missing the headphone jack, but they removed it so the phone could be water resistant and so they could put in a better vibration to the phone. They also removed the home button that took place in every iPhone before the 7, but they replaced it with a touch button that tricks you into thinking it’s a real button. Don’t get this phone if you already have the iPhone 6s because it will not be a huge upgrade. PS. The pictures are ones I took on this phone, not pictures of the phone.
- Alfred Ramsaran (3 stars) I
It’s okay. I have been accustomed to using the 6S plus which has larger fonts and is easy to type on. So for that reason I did not find it too good for me, but it is handy and small to travel with unlike the bigger one 6S plus.
- T Teeples (3 Stars) Great except for missing the headphone jack
I upgraded to the iPhone 7 and have to say that most of my experience has been good. The larger size was a change but after a few weeks I really liked it. The one main complaint is the removal of the headphone jack. My home stereo system has a connection, but is not blue tooth enabled, which means I either no longer listen to my music on my home entertainment system, or I now have to buy a new stereo, plus now my earphones are basically worthless. Plus my truck isn’t enabled either, so now I just listen on the phone. The jury is still out as to whether I’m going to downgrade, as the other features are nice, if not for the headphone jack change it would have been a 5 star. If you only have blue tooth devices to connect to, go ahead and upgrade.
- Adan (4 Stars) Overall good phone.
I like this phone because the software within it is easy to navigate through with the applications being lined up in rows. The security within the phone is excellent. You can choose multiple methods of securing your phone. The picture quality is extraordinary as well. The quality of the videos appears to be ultra HD as well. This is overall good.
- David Wallis (4 Stars) Great for Photography
The iPhone 7 isn’t much of an improvement from the six but, it’s all the difference if you like to frequently take pictures. The camera I’ve noticed is easier to focus with and is high quality. Also, the 128 GB storage is very convenient for pictures and videos so you don’t get the ” not enough storage ” notification while downloading an app or taking a video.
- Madmakx (2 Stars) The IPhone 7, a giant leap in cellphone technology
The iPhone 7, a giant leap in cellphone technology? Not quite.
This phone IS advanced but fragile. AppleCare and insurance is a necessity.
Removing the headphone jack seems to have caused some major problems. It is a fragile little flower of a cell phone. Yes it might be waterproof, but that doesn’t help if it does not work. I have been a loyal Apple user for years and yet within 30 days I am awaiting my second replacement iPhone 7 – on the first phone the charging port (and headphone port now) failed and actually pushed the cable out (ghost in the machine?). That was in the first week – it was replaced and the Second phone lasted 14 days before the same port failed completely. No headphones. No charging. No backing up!! Big bummer!!
It’s not Steve Job’s apple anymore but I can’t see another device that appeals!!!
- Clinton Providence (1 Star) Im very disappointed. It started all good like everything else in
This phone did not even last a year. I’m very disappointed. It started all good like everything else in life and then the phone came up with an error. Checked online and it’s a RAM failure in the phone. Of course, my only venture is to contact the seller, but don’t be surprised I can’t get in contact with them.
- Jerry A. Gonzalez (5 Stars) Would Recommend
I have had this phone for about one year now and it has never failed me. It has been able to withstand many drops and has not broken. The battery lasts a full day at moderate use. Great phone!
- Jan B. (5 Stars) Great phone but not a whole lot different from the six model!
I bought this after the iPhone 8 and 10 came out in order to get a decent price. Been very happy with it and see no reason for a newer model. I did buy a hard case with the battery back up which has been super but it holds the installed battery on its own fairly well. The seller was very good to work with.
- In My Opinion (1 Star) This product did not meet expectation
This product did not meet expectations. The quality and overall performance were disappointing, and it did not function as well as anticipated. Based on my experience, I would not purchase this item again and would recommend that buyers carefully compare alternatives before deciding.

i got the phone it came dead which i dont mind, but the screen was a little scratched up but other then that its alright. i paid a pretty decent amount of money so id say its worth it. just waiting for the phone to turn on & will update battery health is at 84 but is fjne
- R. Parris (5 Stars) Easy to set up
Great for the price. My grand daughter loved it.
- Kennedi (4 stars) Great, but weird.
I love it! The first email I put on did get deleted, which was okay. And also, the weather app is set to Tokyo and if u try and delete the Tokyo, it comes back. I don’t know how to feel but the phone is great! It also came with a charger! The battery life is really medium for me.”
