History and Edward Said
History and Edward Said
After the 1970s there was a movement in the field of history to challenge previously held historical views that were steeped in a Eurocentric worldview. Edward Said was a scholar who had made a major mark in historical scholarship and contributed to historical revisionism. Even though he was not a formal historian, his work and ideas have influenced recent historical scholarship. In a discussion post, explain who Edward Said is and discuss his contribution to historical research. You should give a minimum of 3 sentences on who he is and a minimum of 4 sentences on his contribution.

What does the UCLA Campus Prioritize more Donor Naming vs. H…
The final project for this course addresses commemoration on UCLAs campus. The project conceptualizes the landscape as an archive of memory. In line with the work of Clowney and others, it sees commemoration as an essential component of historical justice.
Working in small groups, your task is to create a piece of public history that addresses commemoration on campus.Group Final Project we are creating a policy report and this is our headline. I am responsible for completing the following. Here is the outline and directions. I need this written like an argumentative policy report so it fits in the group project.

Primary Source/Podcast Response
1. How does Tecumseh (Shawnee) want to solve the problem of American encroachment
and Indian land cessions? Compare Tecumsehs views with those of Alexander
McGillivray (Creek). How are they similar and different, and what does this tell us about
Native American resistance in the late 18th and early 19th centuries?
2. Why should the US declare war, according to Congressman Felix Grundy of
Tennessee? Conversely, what arguments does his colleague from Virginia, John
Randolph, make to argue against a declaration of war against Britain? Be comprehensive
in your evaluation (that is, each Congressman provides an array of reasons to support his
position). Finally, in what ways do the primary source intersect with todays podcast
about the War of 1812? Elaborate using at least three examples from the podcast.
