Congratulations! You have successfully made it through two rounds of interviews for an internal position that will focus heavily on research skills. The hiring team has narrowed the candidate field to you and one other candidate, and now they want to understand your process and rationale for creating research-based questions. You have been asked by the interview committee to present your process and rationale for creating one research-based question in order to exhibit your leadership qualities in your critical thinking about research.

P-hacking is a way to tell the truth in a mathematical sense by finding correlations. In your initial discussion post, answer the following question:

• Do you think p-hacking is ethical?
• How can the media and/or society respond to this issue in an informed way?
• How might it impact our daily lives?
• How should this new information impact you as a researcher (in your line of work or in your degree)?

Cultural impact assessment – 500 words

I chose Bad Bunny as a Celebrity

For this assessment you must pick a celebrity of your choosing and provide a 500 word analysis regarding your view as to how they have impacted society.

You should try to argue that your chosen celebrity has had an impact on society, either good, bad or mixed. When constructing your argument you should use a mixture of academic literature and news/online media. You can also use your own personal reflections as well but these do need to be supported.

When considering your celebritys impact, you may wish to write about their impact on areas such as fans, policy, geopolitics, their particular industry or wider societal issues such as gender, race, etc.

You are free to choose whoever you want as a celebrity. It can be an A-lister or someone who is famous only to a particular community. However, I would advise against picking political celebrities such as Donald Trump or Nigel Farage. If you are unsure that your celebrity is suitable, contact me and I can let you know.

The core marking criteria for this assessment include:

• Strength of argument/case put forward
• Key areas of impact identified
• Original thought, analysis and evaluation
• Use of relevant academic literature and other sources to support claims being made
• Clarity of writing

As well as providing a full, properly referenced bibliography, you may also include an appendix should you wish to include screenshots of things that you reference (eg social media posts, images from news articles etc)
