  • Resource Review Toxic Stress

After watching this video write a 2-page reflection paper that integrates course concepts, key ideas from the training, and your developing professional perspective.

Your paper should be written in APA Format, using complete sentences and clear organization. You may use headings if helpful.

Your paper must address the following components:1. Conceptual Understanding

    Briefly summarize the explanation of:

    • What toxic stress is
    • The incidence of toxic stress among children, and
    • The developmental consequences of chronic trauma exposure.

This section should demonstrate that you understand the core conceptsnot just repeat them.

    2. Critical Reflection and Equity Lens

    • Analyze this idea using examples from the training.
    • Discuss how poverty, community context, and chronic adversity shape educational outcomes.
    • Reflect on what this means for schools serving high-need populations.

  • Writing Assignment 3

WRITING ASSIGNMENT #2 This assignment will result in a document that includes only what you turned in for Writing Assignment #1, plus Table 1, Table 2, and the List of Current Acquired Traits. Your References sections should be merged together into one. After Writing Assignment #1 has been graded and posted in Canvas, review your instructors comments carefully. Once you are assigned a company, correct any issues in your paper and then continue building your project. Writing Assignment #2 should be added at the end of your corrected Writing Assignment #1, so that the file you upload contains: Your corrected Assignment #1 Your first attempt at Assignment #2 A single References section Repeat this process for all later submissions. The file will be large in the end. Remember, your instructor will assign you a company only after Writing Assignment #1 has been graded and certain conditions are met. If you are told to proceed to Assignment #2 but no company has been assigned, send an email immediately to request one. 1. Go online and obtain the latest annual reports (10K filings) for your company, as well as for the other companies in the strategic group. Read them carefully and take notes. o You may use the SECs EDGAR database to access the latest 10K filings. o For easier access to financial data, you may also use other websites such as MacroTrends.net, Yahoo Finance, etc.. o Make sure to cite where you get your information from. 2. Compare your firms strategies and objectives to those of the other companies in the group. o Consider whether your company is competing in the same markets, pursuing similar objectives, or following similar business models. o Note where they are aligned or different. 3. Create Table 1: Key Identity Statements (see Sample Submission for format). o Include mission and vision statements (minimum). o Include any published mottos, slogans, or guiding principles. o Include the name of the CEO, since leadership identity influences strategic direction. Notes: o If your company lacks strong statements but competitors have them, this is a worse trait. o Do not describe traits as better or worse based on past actionsonly on current identity. Lasting effects from past actions may be listed if they are still relevant. 4. Research the companys Board of Directors. Focus on serious issues such as: o Ethical or legal violations by board members (e.g., a CEO arrested for misconduct) o High turnover or vacancies o Composition issues (lack of diversity, limited experience, questionable backgrounds) o Compare these issues to competitors and note if they represent weaknesses or lingering effects. 5. Assess your firms financial condition compared to its competitors. Use information from annual filings (10Ks), company reports, or other websites. Focus on: o Net Income o Quick Ratio o Return on Assets (ROA) o Return on Equity (ROE) o Total Revenue o You do not need to calculate advanced ratios if you are unfamiliar with themuse reported data or common sources. Ensure you are using whole-year data with consistent ending dates (most likely December 31). 6. Create Table 2: Financial Analysis (see Sample Submission for format). o Use consistent units across each row (e.g., billions for revenue, decimals or percentages for ratios). o Calculate the Group Average manually by averaging across the row once all company data is entered. Do not copy averages from an online source. Incorrect averaging will be considered a major issue. o When citing financial data, always include the fiscal year. Try to use the same timeframe across all companies, since comparing 2024 for one company and 2025 for another will make your analysis less effective. 7. Analyze your companys performance relative to competitors and the group average. Identify where your firm is stronger or weaker. Take notes for use in your comparison list. o Comparisons should generally be made to competitors, the strategic group average, or (rarely) the industry average. o Exception: If a company is clearly failing to meet legal mandates, ethical standards, or societal expectations, you may note this as a strategic issue, but provide strong, reputable, and recent citations. 8. Revisit your earlier PESTEL and Porters Five Forces analyses. This time, focus specifically on your assigned company in relation to its competitors and the group average. Identify areas where your company is better or worse. o Some traits may connect to items in your first assignments list, but they must not all overlap. o At least 4 of your list items must come from Tables 1 and 2. o The remainder should come from PESTEL and Porters model factors. 9. Create a List of Current Acquired Trait Comparisons with at least two traits for each of the 11 model factors (one better than and one worse than for each). o Begin each item with your companys ticker symbol. o Use phrasing such as is better than or is worse than, followed by the comparison group and specific measure. Example: KHC is better than the strategic group average in terms of ROA. Example: CPB is worse than GIS in terms of total revenue. o Use the phrase in terms of to specify the comparison factor. o List better than traits first, followed immediately by worse than traits, with no blank line between sections. o All traits must meet the following conditions: Apply to your company specifically, not the entire group. Fall under your companys control or influence. Relate to comparisons with competitors, the strategic group, the industry, societal expectations, or legal requirements. Do not describe actions the company can take, has taken, or is taking. Do not describe past events directly, though ongoing effects of past actions may be included. 10. Submit your completed assignment in Canvas.

    Instructions

Alternative Research Assignment: Video Assignment on Peer Reviewed Article.

Guidelines for paper. This assignment is submitted in two parts. Both parts are submitted directly to your instructor. Each part is equivalent to two hours of research credit (25 points for each part, in order to achieve a total of 50 points towards your final grade).

Part 1/Appendix C: You will upload two peer-reviewed empirical journal articles from an APA or ACA journal (see list) that has been published within the past five years. The pdf version of the two articles must be uploaded on iCollege along with your assignment. These two peer-reviewed empirical articles must be topically related to one another. In addition, you will write a review of each article, as if you were reviewing for the journal editor. To do this, please complete the worksheet, Appendix C. You just present a brief summary of the purpose of the study, the research question(s) posed or hypotheses, the sample collected, the measures, and the major findings from the study. Afterwards, you will then provide a numbered list of limitations of the article. You should be able to find all of this information in the text of the article.

Part 2/Appendix D: You will record a critical review that synthesizes your reactions to the two articles. Your video must demonstrate your analysis and comprehension of the content The video should be 5-8 minutes in length and must be a formal, professional recording of you presenting your ideas. You must appear on camera in the video. Audio-only recording will not be accepted. You may also use GSU recording studio rooms if your personal equipment does not allow video recording [; ]. Keep in mind GSU recording rooms requires booking at least 21 days in advance.

Your video must be submitted in .mp4 format in iCollege, using GSUs Send-a File system, or a view-only shared link. You should speak clearly and thoughtfully, addressing the relevance of the articles to your understanding of course concepts. You must use visual support (e.g., PowerPoint, Google Slides, Canva). Professional attire and clear audio/visual quality are required.Your video should touch on each section mentioned below:

    • Provide a general summary of the studies conducted
    • Between the two articles, identify and defend the article that makes the strongest argument and will have the most significant impact on the topic/population it is written about. Integrate information from your course into the critique of the article. You might discuss the practical significance of the research.
    • Suggestions for future research in this area, based on what you have learned in your course. This should not be a summary of what the authors suggested as recommendations for future research, but rather, your own personal suggestions for future research based on the reported findings.
    • Please use high quality audio and lighting. The video will be graded based on the quality of content and visual organization (i.e. bullet points, clear headings, graphics, transitions). You must have your camera on.
    1. Instructions for PowerPoint video
    2. Instructions for Canva videos
    • You must turn in both your video summary/analysis of the article and a PDF of the two articles (or link to the article if a PDF is not available) when you submit your work for this assignment. Any plagiarism or submitting AI-generated or fabricated articles will result in a grade of zero for the assignment and a formal notice of academic dishonesty. Always use authentic, peer-reviewed sources from APA or ACA journals as outlined.

  • The Progressive Era

    PROMPT

Option 1: Why were so many people (including many women) against women’s suffrage? What were some of the main arguments pro-suffragists used to fight for their right to vote?

Identify and discuss the physiographic region in which you live and at least one other. Talk about how the land (its resources, waterways, geographical features, etc.) impacts the history of the region in which you live and/or the state in general (you can talk about the economy, society, politics, culture of indigenous and settler populations). Be specific and provide historical details from the required sources. How does YOUR story fit into the story of the land in Tennessee?

  • Disaster Recovery plan

Develop a disaster recovery plan to reduce health disparities and improve access to community services after a disaster. Then develop a brochure, storyboard, or poster communicating the plan for the local system, city officials, and the disaster relief team. Introduction Nurses perform a variety of roles and their responsibilities as healthcare providers extend to the community. The decisions we make daily and in times of crisis often involve the balancing of human rights with medical necessities, equitable access to services, legal and ethical mandates, and financial constraints. In the event of a major accident or natural disaster, many issues can complicate decisions concerning the needs of an individual or group, including understanding and upholding rights and desires, mediating conflict, and applying established ethical and legal standards of nursing care. As a nurse, you must be knowledgeable about disaster preparedness and recovery to safeguard those in your care. As an advocate, you are also accountable for promoting equitable services and quality care for the diverse community. A comprehensive recovery plan, guided by the Crisis and Emergency Risk Communication (CERC) framework and the National Incident Management System approach is essential to help ensure everyones safety. The unique needs of residents must be assessed to lessen health disparities and improve access to equitable services after a disaster. Recovery efforts depend on the appropriateness of the plan, the extent to which key stakeholders have been prepared, quality of the communication, and the allocation of available resources. In a time of cost containment, when personnel and resources may be limited, the needs of residents must be weighed carefully against available resources. In this assessment, you are a community task force member who is responsible for developing a disaster recovery plan for the community you have focused on in earlier assessments using the CERC for your crisis communication plan, which you will present to city officials and the disaster relief team. You will use the community from your windshield survey OR you may select a community from the document provided in this assessment. Note: Complete the assessments in this course in the order in which they are presented. Preparation For this assessment, you will use the community from your windshield survey OR you may select a community from the Assessment 3 Supplement: Disaster Recovery Plan [PDF]. You will then develop a brochure, storyboard, or poster communicating the plan for the local system city officials, and the disaster relief team. Instructions Use the following steps to gather the information you need to create your disaster recovery plan. Then follow the grading criteria as the guide for what to include and how to structure your brochure, storyboard, or poster. Develop a disaster recovery plan for the community that will lessen health disparities and improve access to services after a disaster. Refer back to the community chosen for your health promotion plan. Assess community needs. Consider resources, personnel, budget, and community makeup. Identify the people accountable for implementation of the plan and describe their roles. Focus on specific Healthy People 2030 objectives. Include a timeline for the recovery effort. Focus on the following areas in your crisis communication plan: Information gathering. This is critical not only to promote situational awareness but also to receive feedback on messages and how they are received and interpreted. Media monitoring and analysis, including social media, is a central function because the media remains a source of timely information during any crisis. Close coordination with other response agencies and partners, and their public information officers (PIOs), to gather the most current information is also critical. Use the demographic data and specifics related to the disaster to identify the needs of the community and develop a recovery plan. Consider physical, emotional, cultural, and financial needs of the entire community. Information dissemination. This includes using a variety of channels to reach multiple audiences. These activities include general media relations, working with designated spokespersons, organizing news conferences, and providing briefings and updates. Inquiries and questions from the general public must also be addressed and should be documented through contact logs. In addition, officials and other key leaders must be briefed. These information dissemination activities should extend to web support and social media. Operation support. This involves a variety of communication activities, including addressing special needs and multilingual audiences through translation and other services. Facilities support activities involve ensuring sufficient communications capacity to support operations. Liaisons. They can provide two-way communication and coordination with key stakeholders and partners. Close coordination is necessary to achieve an effective response and create consistent messages. Provide support for your position. Include in your plan contact tracing of the homeless, disabled, displaced community members, migrant workers, and those who have hearing impairment or English as a second language in the event of severe tornadoes. Develop a brochure, storyboard, or poster of your disaster recovery plan. You can use one of the free templates available on the Brochure Design Templates web page, storyboard, or poster templates. The requirements outlined below correspond to the grading criteria in the scoring guide, so be sure to address each point. Read the performance-level descriptions for each criterion in the scoring guide to see how your work will be assessed. Describe determinants of health and cultural, social, and economic barriers that impact community safety, health, and disaster recovery efforts. Consider the interrelationships among these factors. Explain how your proposed disaster recovery plan will lessen health disparities and improve access to community services. Consider principles of social justice and cultural sensitivity with respect to ensuring health equity for individuals, families, and aggregates in the community. Explain how health and governmental policy impacts disaster recovery efforts in a community. Consider the implications of legislation for community members such as the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA), Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act, and 2018 Disaster Recovery Reform Act (DRRA). Consider trace-mapping the community progress during the recovery phase. (You can consult the resources in the Contact Tracing reading list for more information about contact trace-mapping.) Present specific, evidence-based strategies to overcome communication barriers and enhance interprofessional collaboration to improve disaster recovery efforts in a community using the CERC framework. Consider how your proposed strategies will affect members of the disaster relief team, individuals, families, and aggregates in the community. Identify evidence that supports your strategies. Organize content with clear purpose/goals and with relevant and evidence-based sources (published within 5 years). Make sure your choice of a brochure, storyboard, or poster is easy to read and error-free. Develop your assessment with a specific purpose and audience in mind. Adhere to scholarly and disciplinary writing standards and APA formatting requirements. Supporting Evidence Cite at least two articles from peer-reviewed journals or professional industry publications within the 5 past years to support your plan. Include data from the CDC, United States Census Bureau, and other government agencies. Before submitting your assessment, proofread your brochure, storyboard, or poster to minimize errors that could distract readers and make it difficult for them to focus on the substance of your presentation. Note: If you require the use of assistive technology or alternative communication methods to participate in this activity, please contact DisabilityServices@Capella.edu to request accommodations. Competencies Measured By successfully completing this assessment, you will demonstrate your proficiency in the following course competencies and scoring guide criteria: Competency 1: Analyze health risks and healthcare needs among distinct populations.
