  • PICOT Literature Review

    Instructions

Based on the research question and specific aims drafted in the “Module 3 PICOT Question, Hypothesis, and Aims” assignment, identify 10-15 research publications that help provide the context to what is known and lacking about your topic.

    • Sources should be peer-reviewed and published within the last 5 years unless seen as gold standard/historical publications.
    • Use search engines such as PubMed, Google Scholar, and the YC library to conduct your search.
    • Be sure to synthesize all articles for relevance, key findings, related measurements, methodology, and quality.
    • As a general rule, you will need to provide support (i.e., citation) for anything that is not general knowledge.

    Format

    • Use the prior Research Proposal document you created in the “Module 3 PICOT Question, Hypothesis, and Aims” assignment. Be sure to include all prior submitted sections with necessary edits.
    • Write 5 6 paragraphs:
    • Paragraph 1 Outline the problem as it relates to your PICOT question.
    • Paragraphs 2-3 Present the available knowledge in a fluid fashion.
    • Paragraphs 4-5 Examine limitations and gaps in existing publications.
    • Paragraph 6 Articulate how your research question is positioned to fill in the gaps and the importance of conducting said research.

Note: the above outline is a general recommendation, not a requirement. However, this section will be approximately 2-3 pages double-spaced once completed.

    • Include in-text citations throughout
    • Use clear, academic language with a scientific tone.
    • Avoid the use of first-person language.

Within research, direct quotations are not typically seen. Therefore, you are expected to synthesize the articles, paraphrase the information as it relates to your proposal and cite according to APA format.

  • Theory Application

Applying a particular theoretical approach to a case is always part of a larger context. Who are the clients you are serving? What are the characteristics of the environment in which you work? Given that, what theoretical framework will work best? Do you need flexibility, or a laser-sharp focus? In this assignment, you will have an opportunity to answer those questions. Do careful research and support your conclusions with relevant evidence. In the Week 3 assignment, you identified and analyzed a specific developmental theory to apply to a case study from the Akeelah and the Bee film. In this assignment, you will build on the work you have done by analyzing ecological systems theory and deciding on an actual application from a person-in-environment perspective. As with last time, it is vital to support the application of your chosen theory with scholarly research.

make sure that you are introducing your chosen character and provide an explanation of their presenting problem from your chosen case study.

The bullet points below correspond to grading criteria in the scoring guide. You may also want to read the scoring guide to better understand the performance levels that relate to each grading criterion. For this assignment, complete the following:

    • Explain the key components of ecological systems theory to apply to the assessment, intervention, and evaluation of your chosen case study.
      • Which aspects ecological systems theory are the most applicable and relevant to your chosen case study?
      • How can ecological systems theory be integrated into assessment, intervention, and evaluation for your chosen character from the case study?
      • Make sure you cite appropriate and relevant scholarly and professional resources to support your explanation.
    • Assess the chosen character from the person-in-environment perspective.
      • For a person-in-environment perspective, you might want to ask yourself the following questions.
        • What systems provide the client support?
        • What systems may be hindering the client?
          • Systems to consider include family, friends, work, social services, politics, religion, goods and services, and educational systems.
      • Include your chosen character’s intersectionality in your assessment.
    • Describe an intervention based on ecological systems theory that is applicable and relevant to the chosen character.
      • Discuss two short-term and two long-term goals for the client by applying systems theory to contextualize the appropriateness of your chosen intervention.
      • Consider how to make the intervention appropriate for diverse clients.
      • Make sure you cite appropriate and relevant scholarly and professional resources to support your intervention.
    • Evaluate the chosen intervention.
      • Evaluate the strengths and limitations of the intervention from an ecological systems perspective.
    • Describe the benefits of an ecological systems perspective within the context of personal social work practice.
      • Note how this perspective can guide social work practice when engaging with diverse individuals and families.
    • Communicate in a manner that is scholarly, professional, and consistent with expectations for members of the social work profession.

    Additional Requirements

The assignment you submit is expected to meet the following requirements:

    • Written communication: Written communication is free of errors that detract from the overall message.
    • APA formatting: Resources and citations are formatted according to current APA style and formatting.
    • Cited resources: A minimum of three scholarly sources. Most literature cited should be current, with publication dates within the past five years.
    • Length of paper: A minimum of four typed, double-spaced pages.
    • Font and font size: Times New Roman, 12 point.

    Requirements: 4 Pages

  • Case Study Analysis and Proposal

    Overview

The final project for this course is an analysis of a hospital, state, or federally funded healthcare organization with recommendations that will evaluate the cultural competence of an organization and the ways it provides services from a population health approach framework. It is important for healthcare organizations to use strategies for improving services to a diverse population in order to provide quality care to all patients.

A population health approach unifies, integrates, and balances prevention and promotion, health protection, diagnosis, treatment, and care. It acknowledges and reflects evidence that factors outside of the healthcare system can significantly affect health. It considers the entire range of individual and collective factors and conditionsand their interactionsthat have been shown to be correlated with health status. Commonly referred to as the determinants of health, these factors currently include income and social status, social support networks, education, employment/working conditions, social environments, physical environments, personal health practices and coping skills, healthy child development, biology and genetic endowment, health services, gender, and culture.

A population health approach focuses on improving the health status of a population, rather than of individuals. Such a focus necessitates reducing disparities, or inequalities in health status among population groups. The outcomes or benefits of a population health approach, therefore, extend beyond improved population health outcomes to include an integrated health system and increased social cohesion and citizen engagement.

The project is divided into three milestones which will be submitted at various points throughout the course to scaffold learning and ensure quality final submissions. These milestones will be submitted in Modules Three, Four, and Six. The final project will be submitted in Module Seven.

In this assignment, you will show your ability to complete the following course outcomes:

    • Evaluate health promotion and disease management strategies for their efficacy in addressing factors that determine population health status
    • Evaluate healthcare organizations patient engagement activities and communication strategies for the extent to which they demonstrate cultural competence for improving population health outcomes
    • Assess the extent to which healthcare organizations use the population health approach to reduce costs and improve quality of care
    • Propose recommendations that improve healthcare organizations effectiveness in advancing the population health approach

post instructions: France Discussion Forum Contribute an original discussion post to this forum that clearly and thoughtfully answers the following prompts using properly cited references to information and concepts from the assigned nation-state’s textbook chapter in order to demonstrate that you have read key sections of the textbook and are trying to critically analyze the information and concepts it presents. 1) What do you believe to be the 3 key features of the nation-states Historical Development that best helps us understand its current politics (i.e. political culture, structure of government in terms of more democratic or more authoritarian, level of corruption vs the rule of law, the stability of the state, etc.)? Explain why you believe each feature to be key. 2) Which position or institutions within the Political Regime do you believe to have the most power in practice (as opposed to merely power on paper) in the nation-state to influence or decide what policies the state takes? Why do you believe this person or group holds the most power? Does this power balance help make government policy-making more or less transparent and accountable to its citizens? 3) How are leaders chosen, according to both law and practice? What type of political party or faction system does the country have? Do you believe that there is enough real competition (i.e. the ability and potential to actually gain positions of power in the regime) and real citizen sovereignty for the nation-state to prioritize the interests of its citizens much at all? Remember that each answer to each prompt should aim to be around 250 words or more (750+ words for the post in total is your goal), and that answers should use clear writing and paragraphing as the ability to read and understand your post is part of the grading. I will not be precisely grading the word count, so as long as each answer is over 200 words and your whole post is at least over 650 or so, and as long as you effectively answer the prompts, I will try to give you full credit for word count. Also remember that each answer needs at least one (and preferably multiple) properly APA cited direct and relevant references to the textbook chapter that backs up the claims you are making. The references and the citations are graded elements of your assignment.

  • POST

Explain STEAM from the readings. Start this section by clearly explaining STEAM, how this type of instruction is applied, and its intended impact on student learning. Pretend like the reader of this paper knows NOTHING about STEAM and you are explaining it from the ground up. Avoid personal opinions in this sectionthis is a synthesis of existing research, not an analysis of your own findings. Use APA 7th edition citations throughout.

Focus on the sources from the Annotated Bibliography that are provided. In your paper, form a discussion around the tenets of focus for the groups case study.

The case study topic is “How does the integration of art-based instruction (citation of art-based strategies) impact students problem-solving and idea generation in the classroom? We are focusing on art integration.”

Focus your literature review specifically upon the sources that support your research topic/question Cross reference your sources (how are they alike and different).

Please note that I am a 9th grade ELA teacher.

My sources are Matuk, C., DesPortex, K., Amato, A., Vacca, R., Silander, M., & Tes, M. (2022). Tensions and synergies in arts-integrated data literacy instruction: Reflections on four classroom implementations. British Journal of Educational Technology, 53(5), 11591178.

This study examined four classroom implementations of data-art inquiry, where students represented data concepts through artistic forms such as collage, photography, and movement. The researchers analyzed how arts integration supported students understanding of data literacy concepts. Findings showed that when students expressed data through artistic creation and reflective discussion, they demonstrated deeper conceptual reasoning and more flexible problem-solving approaches.

This article examines how STEAM activities that integrate art into science learning can improve high schools students creative thinking and problem solving skills. The research designed an outcome based learning STEAM activity centered around creating a Palance Lantern, which required students to apply chemistry concepts while also designing and building creative products. The student found that when students participated in these integrated activities, their creative thinking skills and ability to problem solve improved. The researchers concluded that combining art and design with academic content helps students think more deeply, apply knowledge, and generate more innovative ideas.

Yang, S., & Ward, N. A. (2025). I didnt understand how powerful this could be: The synergy of arts-enhanced literacy instruction and multicultural literature in a rural classroom. Reading Horizons, 64(2), 83104.

The article focuses on an elementary school teacher and her year-long study, which combined multicultural literature with arts-enhanced instruction. The study notes that teachers observations of her students empathy and engagement within their social groups changed throughout the year. The teacher used culturally sustaining pedagogy to create the multicultural lessons. Aiming to encourage her diverse students to build upon their strengths, creativity, and background knowledge, or experiences, and actively learn from each other to build a stronger learning environment. The arts-enhanced approach in the study incorporated drawing, music, and drama as modes for both learning and relaying knowledge. Focusing on how the arts approach enhances both creativity and academic growth, as well as boosting students confidence, self-esteem, and cultural awareness.
