    PART 1

OverviewLittle Kim jumping out of an envelope

Journal 5, yes! We are officially 1/6 of the way through the journal entries for the semester. How cool is that? I have to confess that these odd numbered journals are some of my favorite things to read! You are not forced to write academically, and you are not including sources and worrying about proper citation methods. Instead, you get to respond to inconsequential, perhaps even silly prompts, to get the writing rolling for the week. I love the creative answers!

    Instructions:

To begin this assignment, compose your Journal 5 answering the following prompt:

Do you ever wake up and reflect on the “what could have beens”? What if . . . ? If you do, then this journal entry is for you. If you do not, then maybe it will give you food for thought. What if I told you that you could somehow write a letter to your past self, any past self you choose–it could be ten years ago before him/her/them, or it could be two months ago before you signed up for this class? If, in fact, you could go back and write that version of you a letter, what would you tell you ? Are there things you should have done differently? Honestly, I am a huge believer in the idea that everything happens for a reason, so there is not much point in messing around with the order of things, but, still, what if you could? Address a letter to yourself; begin it with “Dear Past Me” and indicate when in the past you are when you receive this letter.

Write your answer in a short paragraph (100-200 words).

    Submission

You may submit/upload this assignment as a .doc, .docx, .pdf, or .txt file.

    PART 2

SeeingDiscussion Two: A Revolutionary Way of Seeing

Manet painting of Luncheon on the Grass

    TO DO:

    • Read History of Modern Art, pp. 14-50
    • Submit discussion forum post by Tuesday 2/17 at 11:59 PM.
    • Comments will be extra credit due to the President’s Day Holiday

Like last week, this week’s reading (History of Modern Art, pp. 14-50) discusses major shifts in the way people both created and viewed art. In your second discussion forum post, you will once again choose an artist from the reading to discuss and very briefly present a work of art by that artist as an example of their contribution to the history of art. You may choose a work of art discussed in the textbook but please make additional observations if you do.

In your two paragraph response, you will discuss the reason why this artist is important, and how they helped advance the evolution of art in the late 19th century.

    • Briefly identify the artist and the movement with which they are associated.
    • What influenced this artist? (For example, other artists, scientific advances, photography, Parisian culture, literature, nature, etc.)
    • Was their work controversial? If so, why?
    • Briefly identify the work of art and provide a few pertinent details about the piece.
    • Describe the style or technique of the piece as well as you can. Was it revolutionary in some way? Does it affect the meaning of the work?

Due to the President’s Day holiday, you will have extra time for this assignment! Your discussion post should be completed by Tuesday 2/17 at 11:59 PM. It should include an image of your subject, which can be included by selecting the image option in the menu above the text box (it looks like a small rectangle with a mountain and sun). Comments will be extra credit due to the holiday. Please cite at least two sources in your post!

In Milestone Two, you made calculations based on the information found using Mergent Market Atlas about your company and compared the totals with those of one year ago. You then used those figures to decide whether short-term financing was needed to improve your companys financial health. In this final stage of your Final Project, you will use the information youve accumulated thus far and make decisions on whether any or all of the following are appropriate directions for your company. Review the assumptions about this company located in the Final Project Financial Assumptions document. Assume that the situations located in the Final Project Financial Assumptions document are true of your chosen company. For each of the options below, include the necessary ethical factors, appropriate calculations, and examples from previous milestones to support your analysis. Based on your companys financial health, you should consider: Bond Investment: Determine if the bond investment is a good financing option for your chosen businesss financial health. • Informatics and Data

There is nothing more fundamental to nursing than the ability of nurses to care. Caring is the essence of nursing (Watson 1999, p. 33). This holistic, person-centered approach emphasizes cultural competence, which the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) defines as the ability to effectively work within the clients cultural context.

Nurses can use informatics to champion and support initiatives that reduce harm, keep patients safe, improve quality outcomes, and decrease the amount of time patients spend in a hospital. But can informatics be used to care for the sick?

Write a 525- to 700-word paper that demonstrates how you can integrate technology with caring for your patients. Include an explanation of Watsons theory of caring and how your use of technology incorporates cultural sensitivity. Use at least 3 specific examples from your own experience.

Support your paper with at least 3 peer-reviewed resources.

Format your paper and references according to APA guidelines.

    Submit your assignment.
