  • Performance Improvement Plan: Challenges and Opportunities

Performance improvement plans in healthcare organizations are crucial because they directly impact the quality of patient care, operational efficiency, and overall organizational success. Addressing challenges like resistance to change and limited resources ensures that improvements are sustainable and effective. On the other hand, seizing opportunities such as enhancing patient care and fostering innovation can lead to significant advancements in healthcare delivery. Balancing these considerations helps healthcare organizations navigate the complexities of performance improvement, ultimately benefiting both patients and staff.

Green Valley Hospital (GVH) is identified as a Critical Access Hospital (CAH) that serves a small community. Members of this community have limited access to healthcare, so GVH provides emergency care, primary care, and specialized care. However, GVH only has 30 inpatient beds and a small care team. It is currently facing a lot of challenges.
