prepare an abstract of no more than 255 words under the following headings: Objective, Method, Results, and Conclusions. Headings should not appear in the abstract text; each section must be entered into its corresponding text field. Abstracts without data or in which ‘data is to be collected’ or ‘results are expected to show’ cannot be accepted. The first time an abbreviation and/or acronym appears in the abstract, it must be written out in full. 1. Objective: The abstract should begin with a clear statement of the precise objective or question addressed in the report. If more than one objective is addressed, the main objective should be indicated and only key secondary objectives stated. If an a priori hypothesis was tested, it should be stated. 2. Method: The basic design of the study should be described, including participants/setting and variables/measures. Participants/Setting. The number of participants and how they were selected should be provided. The clinical disorders and key socio-demographic features of participants should be stated. Selection procedures, entry criteria, and the number of participants entering and finishing the study may also be included. To assist readers in determining the applicability of the report to their own clinical circumstances, the study setting(s) may be described. Consider whether the setting is the general community, a primary care or referral center, private or institutional practice, ambulatory or hospitalized care. Variables/Measure(s). Describe the design of the study. The primary study variables and instruments should be clearly explained. 3. Results: The main results of the study should be given. When possible, the results should be accompanied by confidence intervals (for example, 95%) and the level of statistical significance. Abstracts without data or for which “data is to be collected” or “results are expected to show” cannot be accepted. 4. Conclusion(s): Only those conclusions of the study that are directly supported by the evidence reported should be given. Equal emphasis should be given to positive and negative findings of equal scientific merit. If clinical applications are described, avoid speculation and over-generalization and indicate whether additional study is required before the information should be used in usual clinical settings. clean up the abstract i uploaded by rewording it completely and sight the references and then create a summary of the sections of the overall paper in bullet point form please pulling the most important point.

  • Civil Liberties

Discussion Post Civil Liberties: On January 27th, 2017, Donald Trump issued an executive order that imposed “a selective ban on immigration from seven Muslim-majority countries as well as establishes preferential treatment for refugees seeking asylum who are identified with ‘minority religions’ in their country of origin” (“We’ll See You in Court: Why Trump’s Executive Order on Refugees Violates the Establishment Clause,” by David Cole, Legal Director, American Civil Liberties Union, January 28, 2017). On Friday, February 3rd, U.S. District Judge James Robart in Seattle ordered a national halt to enforcement of President Trumps controversial travel ban on citizens from seven predominantly Muslim nations. On February 9th, “a federal appeals court . . . unanimously rejected a Trump administration request to allow its travel ban to take effect” ( to an external site.). The intricacy of our government is being laid bare, and we citizens should be extra informed about the rights we are granted by the supreme law of our land, our Constitution. For this discussion, please go to the American Civil Liberties Union website ( (Links to an external site.)). Under “Issues,” find a topic that interests you, and write 2 paragraphs that are at least 4 substantial sentences, explaining some fact(s) that you learned that you did not know before you investigated this site. (If you want to fact, check the American Civil Liberties Union information, you can do a quick Google check at factcheck.org or maybe politifact.org. You may also want to check your text’s information against that of the ACLU.) paragraph 1: What Issue did you pick and explain why it interest you. Paragraph 2: what facts did you find and what did you learn about this issue.

    Instructions

This two-part discussion allows us to think about repositioning our apprehension about public speaking so it is less intimidating.

Make sure you label each part of your initial post and submit your response by typing directly in the discussion tool rather than attaching your response as a Word document. This will ensure other students can easily access your post.

    Part 1

    Direct Link:

Taylor Williams reminds us that the fear of public speaking is number one and recalled that Jerry Seinfeld once said, hed rather be in the coffin than giving a eulogy. She notes that we are all terrified and most of it comes down to feeling judged, and is convinced that we are defining it in the wrong way. Taylor recommends that we think of public speaking as presenting ourselves to the world and change our framework to remember that we engage in public speaking every time we introduce ourselves to a new person or go on a first date. She adds, its about the desire to be known and seen and understood. No need to picture the audience naked. Taylor reminds us that public speaking is a representation of our truest selves and a celebration.

After watching the video, mention one or two strategies you would like to consider when giving speeches.

    Part 2

    Direct Link:

Herman Diaz, scholar and novelist, speaks about the practice of accent profiling in this 3-minute video entitled, We Stigmatize Accents, But Language Belongs to Everyone. Diaz speaks to the intersectionality of his accent and how it expresses his many cultural identities. He rebukes the advertised workshops that promote changing ones accent and wonders why? This video beautifully showcases an engaging and expressive introductory speech.

We do not have homogenized voices. Whether you are from the deep South or South America, our voices offer many distinctive flavors and vary geographically depending on where you have lived. Your voice offers us a layered story of who you are. Describe the intersectional influences of your accent (geographical, cultural, etc.).

STEP 1 Write ONE post with two labeled parts (due Friday 11:59 PM PT)

When you click Start a New Thread, your post must include:

    Examples:

    • Changing how you think about public speaking
    • Focusing on being authentic
    • Seeing it as sharing yourself, not being judged

Just explain in your own words.

    Part 2 (12 short paragraphs)
