Carefully review the “Thesis, Organization, & Topic Sentences” PowerPoint and follow the instructions. Based on the Thesis, Organization & Topic Sentences PowerPoint and what you’ve read this week, does the sample student outline satisfactorily respond to the prompt? Is the thesis strong? Are the topic sentences effective? Why or why not? Use information/tips from the assigned “Week 4” reading materials to evaluate the student sample. [Length: 6-10 sentences] DO NOT look at the answer key until you have answered the questions and reviewed the student sample. Next, check the answer key for this assignment that is also available in this week’s lesson folder. How do your answers compare to what you found in the answer key? What did you learn about thesis statements and topic sentences from this exercise? [Length: 6-10 sentences] Do not upload a file attachment this week. Type your response directly into the discussion board thread. Please follow all instructions and edit your work. Kai Not a Problem

Kais argument was logically consistent and well supported by factual claims. He emphasized the continuous discovery of new resources and the development of alternative materials and clean-energy technologies, which strengthened his position that resource depletion is not an inevitable crisis. His reasoning did not contradict known facts and directly responded to Joshs concerns. Kai made few assumptions, relying instead on real-world examples, though his optimism about technological solutions assumes innovation will always outpace consumption, which could be questioned. While he presented many facts about minerals, resources, and global geopolitics, he did not explicitly cite sources, which slightly weakens the evidence quality. Overall, his argument remained relevant to the resolution, though brief mentions of AI and asteroids occasionally drifted from the core issue. His position was mostly clear, and his closing argument effectively reinforced his main claims.

    Josh It Is a Problem

Josh presented a clear and logically structured argument focused on unsustainable consumption and resource depletion. His example of cobalt mining in the Congo, including child labor and environmental harm, was especially compelling and directly relevant. His argument assumed that current consumption patterns will continue unchecked, which is reasonable but still an underlying belief. Although his evidence was convincing and realistic, he did not cite specific sources, reducing its academic strength. Josh stayed on topic throughout and directly addressed the resolution while responding to Kais points. His argument was easy to follow, well explained, and concluded with a strong summary reinforcing the urgency of ethical and sustainable consumption.
