Write a 57 page recruitment and selection plan based on best practices and approaches for either Java Corp or an organization of your choice.

Attracting top talent that fits the organization is of considerable importance. The ability to recruit and select talented people is one of the foundational skills for any human resource (HR) professional and one that will be utilized throughout your career.

For this assessment, choose either option 1 or 2. You do not need to do both. You will apply one of these scenarios in the instructions below. Both options will be graded using the same scoring guide.

    Option 1

You are the new HR manager for Java Corp, which specializes in cold coffee and iced tea. Java Corp is small but quickly growing. There are 300 employees in the company and the organization has a history of a stable workforce with very limited turnover. Recently, the company gained over 200 employees and there are a number of supervisory and managerial positions that need to be filled. The CEO has asked you to work with her to fill positions based on an organizational structure she has just created.

New supervisors and managers are needed in IT (one), marketing (one), operations (two), and security (one). Each of these areas has seasoned internal employees eager to compete for jobs, though some may not be as qualified as external candidates. Develop a recruitment and selection plan that is best suited for this situation and make appropriate recommendations to the CEO.

    Option 2

Choose an organization to use for this assessment. It can be where you are currently employed or a company with which you are familiar. It must be an organization that is researchable, as you will need to gather and analyze information to complete the assessment. You may use the same organization for the other assessments.

If you choose the organization where you are currently employed, please keep in mind that the analyses you make must be based on facts that can be documented rather than your personal opinion as an employee.

Research the recruitment and selection functions of the chosen organization.

Contact your faculty if you have questions.

For this assessment, develop a recruitment and selection plan for the chosen organization. In your plan:

    • Analyze the role of the recruiter.
      • What unique opportunities and challenges are present for the selected company?
    • Outline a recruitment process to meet organizational objectives for the selected company.
      • Include a step-by-step process for the selection of supervisors and managers.
      • Include the best practices that support your recommended best recruitment plan. Consider the use of social media, types of employment tests, and how to conduct effective interviews, for example.
      • Include additional information that make the positions more attractive.
    • Explain an organization’s legal considerations for recruitment and selection functions.
    • Analyze how to measure success of the chosen selection method for the selected company.
      • What specific metrics would you use for your selected company?

    Additional Requirements

Your assessment should also meet the following requirements:

    • Length: 57 typed, double-spaced pages, in addition to a title page and reference page.
    • Written communication: Communicate in a manner that is scholarly and professional. Your writing should be:
      • Concise and logically organized.
      • Free of errors in grammar and mechanics.
    • Validation and support: Use a minimum of three relevant and credible scholarly or professional resources such as the Wall Street Journal to support your work. These resources should not include the resources found in the course.
    • APA format: Format all citations and references in accordance with current APA guidelines. Refer to the Campus page for guidance.

  • Vocation reflection paper

Introduction: For this essay, you will discuss the value of vocation, especially from a Christian

    viewpoint.

    Reflection Essay Assignment

Read the following works from Encounters:

    Vocation, pages 151-152

    Dorothy L. Sayers, “Why Work?”–pages 153-156

    from Ecclesiasticus 38-39, pages 157-160

    G. K. Chesterton, “The Little Birds Who Won’t Sing,” pages 161-166

Richard Wilbur, “A Plain Song for Comadre,” pages 175-179

Ann Patchett, “The Language of Faith,” pages 181-188

Begin your reflection by rereading the section on Vocation focusing on the traditional

meaning of the word as a calling from God.

Paragraph 1. Describe vocation in your own words. You must use Sayers Why

Work? to help you with this discussion. Feel free to use quotes, paraphrases, or

summaries from the work to help you write this paragraph.

Paragraph 2. Discuss the value of vocation, especially from a Christian viewpoint.

Choose two of the above readings from Encounters to support your assertions.

Paragraph 3. Choose at least two Scriptures that reference Gods calling and two events

in the Bible that demonstrate His calling on individual lives.

Paragraph 4. Choose two of the above readings and discuss the work that the characters

do, their attitude toward the work, and the value of that specific work itself.

Paragraph 5. This paragraph is designed for you to reflect on your calling. What has

God called you to do? How did that calling happen? What do you plan to do with Gods

calling? How have your studies, especially at ORU, helped to prepare you for your

    vocation?

    Assignment Guidelines

    1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. In your essay include the author and the title when you quote from a work using the

authors full name the first time it is used, e.g., C. S. Lewis writes in The Weight of

Glory, There are no ordinary people. You have never talked to a mere mortal (487).

Follow this format for direct quotes (see LBH ch. 43.5).

Always introduce your quotes in some way.

If you paraphrase or summarize sections of the readings selected (see LBH 43.4), you

need to put the author and page number in a parenthetical reference: (Bertrand 496).

Only use the parts of the works that apply to your topic.

Weave your sources together smoothly instead of having a disjointed, cut-and-paste job.

Place an appropriate, original title on your essay. Do not underline your own title or put

quotation marks around your title. Do not use all caps in your title. Capitalize the first

letter of important words in your title. Always capitalize the first word.7. 8. Follow good writing techniques, including proper sentence structure, correct grammar

    and spelling, and appropriate diction.

Include a Works Cited list on a separate page. The works should be listed in alphabetical

order by author’s last name (see LBH ch. 46.2). Your text should be cited as follows:

Hall, Mark R., and William R. Epperson, eds. Encounters: Readings for Advanced

    /r/s/0/doc/1670793/sp/190513512/mi/596426712.

Note: Always include the container title and URL location that is being used at the

time you are consulting the book for the class. At this point in time the container title

is RedShelf in italics ending with a comma and the URL location is listed above

without the https:// ending with a period.

Use cross references for the other works in Encounters (see LBH 46.2.27-28).

    276.

    9. Use correct spelling, especially noting the authors name and the title.

    10. Use complete sentences in your writing. Avoid fragments, comma splices, and fused

sentences (run-ons)! (see LBH chs. 17-18)

Write a 45 page response that includes an analysis of ethical culture components, a plan for creating an ethical corporate culture, and recommendations to sustain an ethical corporate culture.

This lesson is a vital part of the broader exploration of business ethics, focusing on the meaning and value of work within an ethical framework. You’ll delve into how work is not just a means to earn a living but a significant aspect of human life that contributes to our identity, purpose, and ethical considerations in the business world. Understanding the value of work is crucial as it shapes our decisions, interactions, and overall approach to ethical business practices.

You’ll start by examining the historical and cultural perspectives on work, exploring how these views have influenced business ethics over time. From work being seen as a necessary burden to its modern interpretation as a source of personal fulfillment and social contribution, you’ll analyze how these evolving ideas impact our ethical decisions in business.

You’ll also explore the ethical theories as connected to the value of work. Whether viewing work as a moral duty, a form of self-expression, or a path to personal achievement, these theories offer insights into the ethical considerations that businesses must weigh in their practices. Connecting these ideas to the overall study of business ethics allows for a deeper understanding of how the meaning of work influences ethical decision-making within organizations.

You will look at how to foster an ethical culture with an emphasis on learning strategies. Additionally, you will see how the important features of an ethical corporate culture come together. Finally, you will examine the types and importance of ethical codes.

You are an ethics consultant and just landed a consulting project for an organization. Your client has hired you to design a plan with recommendations to create an ethical corporate culture. For the purpose of this assessment, you can “work” with a company you are interested in or familiar with. Feel free to select the company you are currently working at, a company you admire, or a company that you think could benefit from an ethical corporate culture makeover.

There are many practical applications of ethics and ways to foster an ethical culture. If you explored the suggested resources for this assessment, you have encountered several strategies.

Follow these steps to complete the assessment. For all of these steps, make sure you provide examples and information from credible sources to support your writing and claims.

    • Step 1: Analyze the components that make up an ethical corporate culture.
      • Describe the components that constitute a company’s corporate culture:
        • What are the company’s values?
        • What are the company’s ideals?
        • What are the company’s assumptions?
      • Explain how all of these components work together to create a company’s ethical corporate culture.
    • Step 2: Design a plan for creating an ethical corporate culture.
      • Explain how you will go about designing a plan to help your client create an ethical corporate culture.
      • Analyze the organization’s current corporate climate, including its ethical culture.
      • Describe the ethical behaviors demonstrated in this organization, such as their business practices. Also, include how people or the general public perceive the ethics of this organization based on the current corporate climate and business practices.
      • Explain how you will know if people are adopting the new ethical corporate culture. For example, if you created an educational program, you might track the number of people who complete the program.
    • Step 3: Recommend learning strategies to foster ethical corporate culture.
      • Recommend 34 learning strategies for your selected organization that will foster an ethical corporate culture, including how you will employ them to sensitize employees to ethical issues.
      • Explain why your recommendations are appropriate and will provide the desired outcomes. Be sure to connect your rationale to the analysis of the organization’s current climate and ethical culture.

Describe an ethical issue. Then, select four ethical theories to compare and contrast, and then select one of those theories to apply to the issue.

Ethics often stirs strong emotions and opinions, especially among business students, as it has become a central focus in business education. Respecting diverse perspectives on ethics is a crucial part of learning in this course, particularly as you engage in the initial activities. Observing your reactions, as well as those of others, with an open and nonjudgmental attitude, will be invaluable as you work towards the course objectives.

You will start to identify the stakeholders, issues, and current perceptions surrounding business ethics. You will be challenged to confront your beliefs and compare them with how various organizations approach ethics, exploring why some have been recognized as leaders in ethical practices.

Understanding that business ethics is a complex and evolving field is central to studying it. As conditions, environments, people, and organizations change, their behaviors and the regulations that aim to establish fair standards in the business world also evolve.

You are encouraged to critically engage with the course material and actively participate in discussions. Through questioning and exploration, you will uncover the many gray areas that characterize business ethics. As you navigate these challenging zones, your ability to analyze and devise solutions to ethical dilemmas will grow.

Take your time with this weeks readings. Consider discussing the theories and concepts with your business associates, family, or social circles to assess their relevance in real-world contexts. Reflecting on these conversations will prepare you for the assignments and discussions, helping you to define business ethics and build a framework for its application in your professional career.

You will also explore different ethical theories and how they apply to business decisions. Examining these theories allows for a deeper understanding of the moral principles that guide decision-making in complex situations. Understanding stakeholder needs and the ethical implications of business actions is key to navigating ethical dilemmas effectively. Additionally, applying these ethical frameworks will help you identify and analyze issues, ultimately leading to more informed and principled decision-making.

While no single approach to stakeholder and issues management is universally best, studying various theories and understanding how to apply them to different ethical challenges will enhance your ability to contribute meaningfully to the resolution of these dilemmas.

Think of an ethical issue you have been a part of, either personally or professionally, such as nepotism, a data breach, inappropriate social media posts, or harassment/discrimination. Describe the ethical issue. Then, select four ethical theories to compare and contrast, and then select one of those theories to apply to the issue.

Follow the steps below to complete your assessment. For all of these steps, make sure you provide examples and information from credible sources that will support your writing:

    • Step 1: Compare and contrast at least four of the ethical theories.
    • Step 2: Decide which theory you want to use and explain why.
    • Step 3: Choose an issue such as those mentioned above and describe the issue.
    • Step 4: Analyze the ethical decision-making process using the theory you chose and implement the ethical reasoning process steps.

Your submission should meet the following requirements:

    • Written communication: Written communication is free from errors that detract from the overall message. Communicate in an exemplary and professional manner through clear, concise, well-organized, and grammatically correct writing.
    • Number of resources: At least two APA-formatted in-text citations and accompanying congruent APA-formatted references.
    • Citations: Include complete citations of your sources. Review for more information on how to cite your sources. You can also use the resources to help you with the writing process.
    • Length: 45 pages.
    • Font and font size: Times, 12-point.

Read the draft through once. Then reread, commenting on the following items as you go:

    1. Title: Does the student writer employ a title that includes both the purpose for writing and the subject? Is the RQ used in the title? Make your comments here:

    2. Introduction. In the introduction, has the student writer explained the issues exigence? Is enough background information included so readers will understand the issue? Is there too much background and history, thus diluting the exploratory purpose? Is a research question asked in the introduction? Is there a claim in the introduction? (The claim for an assignment of this type usually argues for understanding the complexity of the issue.) Is there a helpful preview of perspectives? Would one be helpful? Make your comments here:

    3. Perspectives. Are sections used in the body to describe at least three perspectives rhetors (arguers) take on the issue? Is each perspective named and described (in the subheading) accurately and consistently? Do the perspectives differ enough from one another? Does the student writer avoid using neutral as a perspective? Is the preview of perspectives followed in order in the body of the Exploratory essay? Make your comments here:

    4. Rhetors. Are at least two rhetors used for each perspective? Is each rhetors credibility and bias discussed? Is the rhetor’s argument summarized, with the argumentative claim + reasons + key evidence explained? Is textual evidence pulled in by way of quotation and paraphrase to show what arguments the rhetors in that perspective make? Are paragraphs broken and transitions used where appropriate? Make your comments here:

    5. Objectivity. Has the student writer handled the three perspectives as objectively as possible? Rhetors definitely have opinions the student writer is reporting on, but the student writer should hold on to their own opinion until the conclusion, where they may express it (or not). Make your comments here:

    6. Conclusion: Is the conclusion used to sum up the findings on the three perspectives? Does the student writer talk about their position on the issue? Make your comments here:

    7. Citing sources. Does the student writer use MLA style of citation? No in-text parentheticals are necessary in the paper because we’re introducing each rhetor with their name, title, publication and date. Does the student writer include an “Annotated List of Works Cited”? Note problems with citation here:

    8. Annotations: Does the student writer construct a note that takes into addresses rhetor qualification, exigence, audience, constraints and the text’s fit?

    9. Do you have a particular concern you want your reader to address? If so, use this space to capture your interaction:

The essays are as good as possible, but they are 100% AI and don’t pass the AI checkers, so I will get a bad grade. Please revise, keeping the writing just as good if not better, but making sure it passes with at least 60% human writing in the website GPTZero for AI checking.

Question 1: In 500 words or less, please share how your participation inthe ICSC Foundation Mentorship Program has impacted you professionally and/orpersonally. :

Participating in the ICSC Foundation Mentorship Program has been one of the most valuable professional experiences I have had while preparing to enter the commercial real estate industry. As a student studying Real Estate and Urban Economics at the University of Connecticut, I have learned a strong foundation of industry concepts in the classroom. However, working with my mentor, Reginald Livingston, helped bridge the gap between academic knowledge and how the industry actually operates in the real world.

One of the most impactful aspects of the mentorship was gaining a clearer understanding of different career paths within commercial real estate. Through our conversations, I learned more about roles such as brokerage, investment analysis, and other positions within the industry. Hearing how these roles function from someone with years of experience helped me better understand what skills are most valuable and how different jobs contribute to the broader deal-making process.

Another major takeaway from the mentorship was learning how important relationships are in commercial real estate. My mentor shared practical advice about networking and maintaining professional connections. One suggestion that stuck with me was keeping an organized spreadsheet of contacts and noting the last time I spoke with them so I can stay in touch. This may seem simple, but it reinforced how relationship-driven the industry truly is and gave me a system to build and maintain my network over time.

I have always considered myself a self-starter with many ideas about my career path, but having an experienced professional to talk through those ideas with was extremely valuable. For example, I initially believed brokerage was not the right starting point for me, but my mentor explained that brokerage can actually be a great place to begin. He emphasized that it helps develop important skills such as underwriting deals and building relationships while also giving exposure to a wide range of transactions. That perspective helped me think about the early stages of my career in a more open and strategic way.

Beyond career advice, the mentorship also gave me insight into how industry professionals approach opportunities like ICSC events. My mentor has shared what he looks for when hiring and how professionals use conferences to strengthen relationships and meet new people. These conversations have helped me better understand how to approach networking with curiosity, respect, and appreciation.

Looking ahead, I hope to attend ICSC Las Vegas, and my mentor has already offered to spend time with me there. Having someone I know and respect within the industry makes the opportunity even more meaningful. This mentorship has not only helped me better understand the commercial real estate industry, but it has also given me confidence as I prepare to begin my career.

Question 2: In 500 words or less, please explain why you are interestedin attending ICSC LAS VEGAS and what you hope to gain from theexperience. :

My interest in attending ICSC Las Vegas comes largely from my experience last summer interning at Soundwater Properties, a commercial real estate investment firm focused primarily on grocery-anchored shopping centers. Because the company is a smaller and growing firm, I had the opportunity to work closely with the co-owner throughout the summer and see many different parts of the business.

During the internship, I was exposed to much more than just acquisitions. I saw how deals are sourced, analyzed, and negotiated, but I also learned about the operational side of shopping centers, including tenant relationships, management decisions, and long-term exit strategies. Seeing how these properties operate over time helped me understand the complexity of the asset class. I also saw firsthand how things can go wrong with a deal and how experienced professionals adapt and still find ways to make the investment successfulor sometimes recognize when it is better to walk away.

Before that internship, shopping centers were not an asset class I had seriously considered pursuing. I had always found multifamily real estate more interesting. However, after spending the summer learning about the intricacies of retail properties, tenant mixes, and grocery-anchored centers in particular, I began to develop a strong interest in this sector of commercial real estate.

Attending ICSC Las Vegas would be an incredible opportunity to continue exploring that interest and help me determine whether retail real estate is the path I want to pursue long term. While my coursework has provided an excellent academic foundation, hearing directly from industry professionals with real-world experience adds a level of insight that cannot be replicated in the classroom.

The educational sessions at the conference are extremely valuable, but I believe one of the most important aspects of the event is the ability to interact with the professionals attending it. Conversations with investors, brokers, developers, and other industry leaders can provide perspectives on current trends, career paths, and opportunities within the retail real estate sector.

I am also excited about the opportunity to meet other students and young professionals who are preparing to enter the industry. Building relationships early in our careers can lead to long-term professional connections that benefit everyone involved.

Ultimately, attending ICSC Las Vegas would allow me to continue learning from experienced professionals, expand my network within the industry, and further evaluate the career path I want to pursue within commercial real estate.

Individual Assignment 1B: The Sociologically-Based Academic Journey (AJ) Paper. This assignment is a personal reflection and an educational analysis of an important developmental and socialization experience. The AJ Paper should be 3 – 7 pp. single- or double-spaced, 10-12 size font (or up to 10pp.). At least 2 references minimum. Use your Draft AJ Paper if you submitted and complete this final AJ Paper (revise, update, elaborate, write, cite, etc.). Do not submit an outline; this paper must follow formal written standards common of analytical reflections and research papers. Review the paper details including the requirements noted below. Consider using the template (you can remove the heading and insert your information).

  • Identify one of the following periods in your academic journey that you would like to reflect on and discuss using a sociology of education perspective: Elementary School, Middle School, High School, Community College, or University Level. State why you selected this period. Describe the context of the school, college, or university. In addition to a sociology of education perspective, you can also include a perspective from psychology, ethnic studies, or another appropriate social science.
  • Select two theories or concepts (or one theory and concept) from sociology, psychology, or education (or another related area) to analyze your academic journey. Discuss the main points of the theories or concepts and note why you feel they are relevant to your experience. Clearly state the theories or concepts you decide to use up front in your paper. Note the name of the recognized researcher/scholar who advanced the theories or concepts. Use the theories or concepts presented in this coursefrom the readings, reports, the professors lecture notes, etc. You can use applicable concepts and theories youve learned in other courses or from your own research.
  • In telling your educational story, use the theories or concepts to highlight the factors that promoted or hindered your development personally, socially, and academically. Address all three areas. You can talk about the promotion aspects and hindrances (or either one). Specifically, discuss: the influential people (parents, siblings, peers, teachers, role models, etc.); impactful programs (course curriculums, other academic enrichment, sports, community service, faith-based endeavors, ethnic cultural activities, etc.); memorable places (classrooms, labs, libraries, recreation fields, home environments, community spaces, etc.); and significant psychosocial dynamics (mindsets, feelings, and behaviors resulting from the interrelation of mental states, emotional well-being, social factors, etc.).

  • Explain how this period and related educational experiences prepared you for the subsequent educational phase in your life (the educational level immediately following the one you selected to analyze).
  • Point out ways in which this period and related educational experiences shaped you as a student, placed you on an academic path, and account for what you have achieved thus far in your scholastic life.
  • Conclude your academic journey by delineating both the theoretical and practical takeaways. In discussing the former, keep in mind a perspective from sociology, psychology, or another relevant theoretical perspective and speak to a scholarly and research-oriented community. For the latter, keep in mind your real-world experience and speak to students and practitioners who are seeking pragmatic advice. Identify at least two takeaways under each area.
  • In your paper, reference at least two sources and cite accordingly (use APA, ASA, MLA, etc.). One of the sources should be from an empirical, research-based journal, book chapter, or report of some sort. You can use course materials as part of your references, including the professors lecture slides.
  • Structure your paper in the following manner: Title your paper An Analysis of My Educational Journey. Or, come up with your own descriptive and catchy title. Include commonly used essay sections, such as an introduction, body, conclusion, and references. Use headings and sub-headings to clearly identify the key areas of your paper (most of the underlined/bolded areas noted in the first six bullets above).
  • * Everything noted in the assignment template are suggestions. Feel free to use your own organization and creativity in organizing your paper. Make sure to meet the stipulated requirements.

    * Enjoy the process of organizing your AJ Paper. There is no doubt that youll learn much as you reflect on and critically analyze an important part of your academic development and socialization experiences. We look forward to learning about your experiences.

    * Consider using the references below as possible concepts and theories to apply to your educational journey.
