After having learned about the trustfulness of sources providing information, it is now time for you to apply the knowledge. In this assignment, you will write a five-paragraphargumentative essay based on one of the two topics provided below.
Please pay close attention when developing your counterarguments. When presenting the counterarguments, you must provide examples of logical fallacies commonly used, explain the type of logical fallacy, and refute it in the rebuttal. Please note that each topic comes with an article that you need to read beforehand. Somewhere in your essay, you need to cite the accompanying article at least once. The article assigned to the topic should not be analyzed as a primary source but should only serve as supporting evidence either for one of your arguments or counterarguments. The accompanying articles are attached to this assignment, and they also provide a direct link for the article itself. Please do not quote; instead, you should paraphrase; students who quote will lose points.
Additional requirements:
- cite at least one external source in each paragraph, excluding the conclusion.
- each body paragraph needs to have between 12 and 16 lines. Therefore, please make sure that you develop well your ideas.
- cite your sources both in text and in the References page by following the APA style rules.

Cobbs (2018) article was published two years prior to the unrest, protests, and riots of 2020. Part of the strategies Cobb (2018) mentions to mitigate these implicit biases against people of color includes formal training undertaken by Starbucks. Other attempts to draw attention to these implicit biases have occurred in 2020 with multiple scholars and activists encouraging us all to read a variety of texts on the issue and become more informed on these implicit biases and systemic racism. Do you think this is the best approach to fight implicit bias and racism?

Do some research to learn a little more about New Urbanism. (Some possible sources include Suburban Nation: The Rise of Sprawl and the Decline of the American Dream, by Andres Duany, Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk, and Jeff Speck, and Walkable City by Jeff Speck.) Make a list of some of the key principles and ideas that form the basis of New Urbanism civic designwhat does it have to say about walkable streets, about proximity of houses and shopping, about sidewalks and public spaces, and so on? Choose a town or neighborhood that you know and where you spend time (perhaps even your college campus), and make a proposal for a specific change to the public space of that town, neighborhood, or campus in keeping with the principles of New Urbanism. Make a case for the change that you are proposing. How would it enhance public life and make a public space work better for local residents, local businesses, and local governments?
