To Complete This Assignment, You Will:
Identify a nursing/healthcare-related problem from either your senior practicum, previous clinical experience, or a specific population of interest. You will then examine, interrogate, and analyze the root cause (upstream causes) of your identified problem- a necessary step in developing any effective solution. After determining the upstream causes of your identified problem, you will then design and articulate a nurse-driven solution. However, in order to actualize your identified solution, you will first need to describe the requisite leadership traits and characteristics that will be required to turn your solution into a reality. Below you will find an outline of the paper, and the tasks you should follow for each section to be successful.

Sources: 10 Self-Selected sources from the literature – 5 out of 10 should come from the nursing literature.

- Thinking Upstream/Interrogating the Historical, Social, and Institutional Context -Determining the Root Causes 30% (approx.4-5 pages)
- Analyze and describe the broad societal and institutional dynamics at work in causing the problem you see needing to be changed. Dive deep here, think upstream, and discuss the root of the problem. The history of the problem you articulate should be grounded in evidence from the literature- think of this as your literature review section.
- Articulate the root of the problem and describe how it is framed in the literature
- Describe the most significant societal, economic, environmental, and political factors that contribute to the problem as you see it.
- Discuss if anyone is currently benefiting from this problem. If so, who, whom, or what.

- Articulating a Leadership Framework 20% (approx 2 pages)
- Select a leadership framework from the literature and/or class discussions that will best serve as a model/guide for enacting the vision and action plan that you will describe in the next section.
- Identify a leadership framework and discuss its major concepts in detail
- Provide a rationale for choosing this framework
- Describe in detail how the leadership model makes sense given the historical roots of the problem you have identified in the section above and the action plan you propose in the next section.
- Describe how you see yourself as a leader utilizing your selected framework in practice
- Select a leadership framework from the literature and/or class discussions that will best serve as a model/guide for enacting the vision and action plan that you will describe in the next section.
- Emancipatory Vision & Action Plan 30% (approx. 4-5 pages)
- Stemming from your analysis of the root causes and reflections above, articulate a scenario describing a set of nursing leadership practices and/or a policy landscape for the future to alleviate the problem you have identified.
- Outline the practical steps that could be taken to realize and enact the vision you have articulated. Consult the literature related to your identified problem to spark ideas on reasonable steps for change. Ground as much of your solution in the literature as possible.
- Describe the future scenario of the nurse, patients, and the organization that you would most like to see unfold and why
- Describe specific changes that should be promoted to alleviate the problem you have identified in detail and how they would be implemented. These should be grounded in the literature as much as possible.
- Describe how you would prioritize and enact these changes and the resources you would need to make this happen.
