PSY-104 Development in the Movies PPT

The movie of choice is Matilda.

You will be creating a presentation explaining development from the movies. You will create a PowerPoint presentation describing the selected character, their developmental period, typical developmental challenges, and explain where the character falls within Eriksons stage and explain Bronfenbrenners ecological systems your selected character is a part of.

Your presentation should have 8 slides of content (not including title page and references) and include about a paragraph of notes on each slide. Watch the video if you need a reminder on how to get to the notes section. If you do not have PowerPoint, you can submit a Prezi presentation, but must also include a word document of notes. BCCC offers Microsoft Office 365 for free, FYI. If using a Mac, please ensure it’s saved into a .ppt extension not the mac equivalent so I can read it!

2. Correct Identification of Developmental Period & Explanation-
   1. Explanation of Key Developmental Issues/Outcomes (think Physical, Social, Cognitive and Emotional)
3. Theories Identification and Explanation (Bronfenbrenner & Erikson)-
   1. Identify all aspects of Ecological Systems the character is a part of, you may need to extrapolate
   2. Eriksons stage, description of navigation of this stage as shown in movie
4. Expanding on the movies developmental issue-
   1. Using an outside source, talk about something within the movie with relation to that characters developmental period, use the peer-reviewed source for this
   2. Example: Adolescence- Bullying/Sex/Substance Use or Older Adults- Retirement/Loss/Aging
5. Integration of Sources-
