Each student will do a self-assessment using the NEO PI-R (instructions and forms will be provided in class). The assignment is to write a 56-page paper which includes:
– formal presentation of findings,
– process-oriented reflection on your experience of the personal assessment,
– integration of results of this assessment with known history and any 1 previously done assessments (e.g., genogram),
– discussion of how your personality assessment informs your professional practice.
The goal of this assignment is to articulate your experience of the personal assessment. The paper will be evaluated based on the
depth of self-exploration, self-reflection, insights, critical thinking, the students ability to analyze and interpret the test results, as
well as organization and adherence to rules on APA format, grammar, punctuation, spelling, etc. It will not be graded on test results
per se but on commenting on the following (10 points for each element):
1. Accuracy of presentation of test results
2. Your emotional and cognitive response to the test-taking experience
3. Your feelings about being interpreted
4. Surprising elements in the interpretative process (e.g., were there interpretations you found ill-fitting or some
that you were surprised about even though they fit well?)
