Purpose

In this discussion board, you will write your own AI prompt to generate a factorial research study. Then you will analyze that study on your own.

This will help you practice:

• Identifying the parts of a factorial design
• Writing the correct design notation
• Determining what type of factorial design was used and why it matters

Part 1 Use AI to Generate a Study

In this part, you will write your own prompt and use an AI tool (such as ChatGPT, CoPilot, or Claude) to generate a factorial research study.

Your prompt to the AI must ask for all of the following:

• A simple factorial research study in a setting that relates to your career goals
• A study that includes at least two independent variables and one dependent variable (you must name all of them in your prompt)
• A study that could be between-subjects, within-subjects, or mixed but the AI should NOT tell you which one it used
• A study that is about 150200 words
• A study that does NOT label or identify its own design type
• A study that does NOT identify any of its strengths or weaknesses

Part 2 Analyze the Study (Your Work Only)

You must complete this part on your own. Do not ask AI to help you answer these questions.

Answer each question in about 23 sentences.

1. Identify the independent variables in the study and state how many levels each one has. Write the design notation for the study (for example, 2 x 2).
2. Is this a between-subjects, within-subjects, or mixed factorial design? Explain how you know.
3. Identify one advantage and one disadvantage of the design type used in this study.

Part 3 Post Your Work in the Discussion Board

You must complete all parts of this assignment in one single discussion board box in Blackboard. Do not upload or attach any Word documents or other files. Everything must be typed or pasted directly into the discussion board.

Your post must include the following sections, in this exact order:

• The prompt you wrote for the AI
• The full AI-generated study
• Your answers to the three analysis questions from Part 2
• Your AI attribution statement (12 sentences)

Your AI attribution statement must confirm that you used AI only for Part 1 and completed Part 2 on your own.
