World War II Project Description

World War II was a global conflict that lasted from 1939 to 1945. It began when Germany invaded Poland, leading United Kingdom and France to declare war. The war involved two main sides: the Allies (including the United States and the Soviet Union) and the Axis powers (Germany, Italy, and Japan).

The causes of the war include the harsh conditions placed on Germany after the Treaty of Versailles, the rise of leaders like Adolf Hitler, and the failure of international organizations to maintain peace. Major events include the attack on Pearl Harbor, the Battle of Stalingrad, and the D-Day invasion.

The war ended in 1945 after Germany surrendered and the United States dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. World War II caused massive destruction and loss of life and led to the creation of the United Nations to help prevent future wars.
