To complete the museum assignment, students need analyze a work of art or object from the African collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Please use the link below to view the MET collection.

After choosing a work of art or object, use the Getty Museum’s Principles of Design & Elements of Art PDF files to describe the work of art or object. This needs to be written in your own words without the use of Al for writing or phasing of sentences. However, you may use Al to check spelling only. Use at least three of the principles of design and three of the elements of art to describe the artwork or object. This needs to be a thorough analysis that is well written, and is two typed, double spaced, 12-point font pages.

Steps
- Find a work of African art that is not contemporary art.
- Write a two-page analysis of the work of art. This should include the name of the work, who made the work, what the work is made out of, and maybe the date of the work. Then using the Getty Handouts, describe the work in as much detail as possible. Look at the texture, color, size, etc.
What is the meaning of the work? What was it used for? Make sure to use three principles of design and three elements of art to describe the work.
