  • Exploring the Efficacy of Cannabis in Treating Insomnia: A C…

.The purpose of this discussion is to critically evaluate the effects of cannabis and its derivatives on sleep by examining recent academic research, assessing the credibility of sources, and considering how this information relates to cognitive behavioral therapy as a primary treatment for insomnia.

    Step 1: Read

article on the effects of cannabis and its derivatives on sleep. The citation is provided below.

    Morin, C. M., & Buysse, D. J. (2024). Management of Insomnia. The New England Journal of Medicine., 391(3), 247258.

In this article, Morin and Buysse (2024) state, “Cannabis, cannabidiol (CBD), and delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) preparations are also widely used to treat sleep problems but are associated with mixed findings. The overall quality of evidence supporting the efficacy of cannabinoids for insomnia is low… Variation in cannabis-derived preparations is also relevant. For instance, CBD is stimulating at low doses and sedating at high doses, and THC has the opposite effects” (p. 255).

Step 2: Investigate the claim made by Morin and Buysse (2024) concerning cannabis and sleep disorders by locating and analyzing an academic research article in the SPC library online database that either supports the authors’ claim about the mixed findings of cannabis for insomnia treatment or refutes the authors’ claim about the low-quality evidence for cannabinoids.

Step 3: In at least 300 words, (1) provide a very brief review of the claim made in the article you have found; (2) support the academic authority of the source. In other words, what makes this source you found an authority? (3) How does this new information you have found impact the core thesis proposed by Morin and Buysse (2024): Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is the most effective first-line treatment for insomnia? Please include the full APA citation for the article you selected, and also the hyperlink (the full url) to the article you selected.

  • Sampling and non-sampling error analysis in retail pricing

Retailers rarely have time or resources to analyze every product in their catalog. Instead, they rely on samples of data to make pricing decisions that can shape revenue and competitiveness. This project challenges you to compare a full product population against a smaller sample, evaluate the accuracy of sampling, and uncover risks tied to sampling and non-sampling errors. Your analysis will reveal whether small datasets can guide large-scale retail strategy. Project Resources P2-1 Understanding Parameters and Statistics Foundations of Population and Sample Analysis.html P2-2 Distinguishing Sampling Error from Non-Sampling Error Sources, Examples, and Best Practices.html P2-3 Leveraging Excels AI-Powered Analyze Data Tool for Managerial Insight.html P2-4 Interpreting Sampling Error and Confidence Intervals for Decision-Making.html P2-5 Non-Sampling Errors Identification, Mitigation, and Pricing Impact.html P2-6 Writing Managerial Recommendations Addressing Sampling and Non-Sampling Errors.html Decide whether a small sample of product prices represents the full catalog (population), and explain how sampling error and non-sampling error could impact retail pricing decisions. Quick Data Check (Excel) Download the 25 rows of data and save the file to your computer. ChatGPT will ask: Would you like me to also save the full dataset as a CSV file for download? Answer yes, and then download the data with 250 rows and save the file to your computer. Turn ranges into Tables: Home Format as Table (name them Population and Sample). You do this for both files. Ensure Price column is numeric and remove any text symbols (e.g., $). Step 3: Descriptive Statistics (Population vs. Sample) You do this for both files. The Analyze Data icon in Excel (on the Home tab) is an AI-powered tool that quickly summarizes, explores, and visualizes your dataset. By selecting a data range and clicking the icon, Excel automatically suggests pivot tables, charts, and key insights such as averages, trends, or correlations. You can also type natural language questions (e.g., average price by category), and Excel generates answers instantly, helping you discover patterns without manually building formulas or pivot tables. You will use the Analyze Data Icon in Excel for the following. (Running the data will take between 10 and 15 minutes. You are copying the commands, clicking insert pivot table, and the program is doing all of the table and chart creation. Enter each request one at a time for both the Sample and the population data files: Average ‘Price’ by ‘Category’ Select insert pivot table Average ‘Price’ by ‘Region’ Select insert pivot table Average ‘Price’ by ‘Channel’ Select insert pivot table Average ‘Price’ by ‘DiscountFlag’ Select insert pivot table Average ‘Price’ by ‘Category’ and ‘DiscountFlag’ Select insert pivot table Average ‘Price’ by ‘Category’, ‘Channel’, ‘Region’, and ‘DiscountFlag’ Select insert pivot table Median ‘Price’ by ‘Category’ Select insert pivot table Median ‘Price’ by ‘Region’ Select insert pivot table Median ‘Price’ by ‘Channel’ Select insert pivot table Median ‘Price’ by ‘DiscountFlag’ Select insert pivot table Standard Deviation ‘Price’ by ‘Category’ Select insert pivot table Standard Deviation ‘Price’ by ‘Region’ Select insert pivot table Standard Deviation ‘Price’ by ‘Channel’ Select insert pivot table Standard Deviation ‘Price’ by ‘DiscountFlag’ Select insert pivot table Decide what information should be shared for the project. Use the output or create a series of tables comparing the data and paste them into Word. Each table must be accompanied by a brief written explanation. Create a table of the data, Sampling error, and 95% Confidence Interval. Credit ChatGPT as the source. Describe the findings. Does the population mean fall inside the samples 95% CI? If yes, your sample mean is consistent with the population mean (sampling error acceptable). If no, the sample may be unrepresentative (or n is too small), which can mislead pricing decisions. Step 4 should be 34 of a page in length (table not included). Cite the module readings or other sources and add them to the reference list. Do not use quotations. Step 5: Non-Sampling Errors (identify & mitigate) List three plausible non-sampling errors. This section requires research. ChatGPT may not be used for this section of the assignment. Explain how each non-sampling error could skew pricing decisions (e.g., overpricing due to missing low-price groceries). Which non-sampling errors pose the greatest risk to pricing strategy? Step 6: Managerial Recommendation Provide a recommendation for management that addresses both sampling and non-sampling sources of error. Suggest one actionable step (e.g., increase sample size, stratify sampling by Category/Region, add data validation rules, or test promotions before full rollout). Steps 5 and 6 should be 1 1/2 pages in length. Cite the module readings or other sources and add them to the reference list. Do not use quotations. • Journal Entry 4

    Instructions

Respond to all four prompts below after reading ALL assigned texts above.

Remember, if more than one text is assigned, you only need to annotate each text in Prompt #1. After the first Prompt, you can engage with any text you wish for Prompts 2-4.

Any submissions containing AI-generated text will receive an automatic 0.

Journal Entries should be a college-level paragraph in length, or a minimum of about 300+ words in total (as in the amount of text including all prompts combined) to meet expectation. Heres a guide to help you visualize what different paragraph lengths look like:

As a reminder, the prompts below are intended to get you engaging with the text in ways that are interesting to you. Besides an accurate summary, dont worry about whether or not your responses are right or wrong. Instead, focus on justifying and explaining your personal reading, interpretation, and associations.

And, as always, remember longer submissions qualify for bonus points!

1.) begin by annotating the assigned text (or texts). It will be extremely helpful to take notes as you read, even if you simply highlight, underline, or write down/type lines or sections that stand out.

Provide a beat-by-beat breakdown of the most significant events for someone who hasnt read this text before (no need to get into extraneous detail if you dont want to). Feel free to write in your own voice! (i.e., This total jerk named Pete decided he was going to beat up a bunch of kids, and so…) What are the most significant parts of this reading from beginning to end in your own words? (Extra help with annotation: )

2.) What associations do you make with this text? What does it make you think about? Do any personal experiences come to mind? Do any of the characters remind you of people you know and/or characters and/or scenes from other stories? Or does this reading make you think about other books, shows, movies, or scenes from other media? What about any world events, places, or important figures (both historical and/or contemporary)? Why do you think you’re making these associations?

*If no associations come to mind, cite a specific scene, moment, character, and/or section that stands out to you. What is it about the writing, style, language, and/or substance of this section that captured your attention? Do you think this was intentional on the authors part? Why or why not?

3.) What is the purpose of this text, and why do you think so? What moral, lesson, insight, philosophy, and/or thesis do you think the author is exploring? Or what value is there in this reading? Explain your reasoning for this conclusion. Cite 1-3 lines that support this conclusion or are noteworthy in some way, and why?

4.) What is your personal reaction or evaluation to this reading, the characters, specific scenes, the writing style, and so on? Is it engaging? Interesting? Awesome? Confusing? Stupid? Moving? Upsetting? Good? Bad? Why or why not?

  • Professional Identity Discussion

    please answer both discussion

Nurse caring for a child with a teddy bear, image sourced from The Vital Role of Pediatric Nurses in Providing Quality Care at Childrens Clinics on 1Nurse.com, retrieved from

    • Why you selected this picture/why does it speak to you?

I chose the above image because I thought it showed how nurses really connect with their patients. The nurse comforting the child with a teddy bear showed how important it is to make your patient feel safe and cared for, especially when they could be scared (which is normally seen in children). It reminded me that nursing isn’t just about medical treatments, but understanding people, and helping them feel cared for.

    • What core values of nursing do you see in this image (integrity, altruism, inclusivity, compassion, courage, humility, advocacy, caring, autonomy, humanity, or social justice)?

Some core values of nursing that I see in this image is advocacy, as the nurse seems to be putting the child’s comfort first even with small gestures like giving the teddy bear to the child. Integrity can also be seen with providing care in a professional manner. Lastly compassion can be seen in the image by the nurse clearly focusing on the child’s emotional needs.

    • How does the historical context of this image reflect the image you selected?

Historically, nursing seemed to be out of compassion, as seen from Florence Nightingale caring for wounded soldiers and continuing today with pediatric nurses supporting children in hospitals. While nursing education has advanced, the core human connection seemed to have not. Like Nightingale, the nurse in the image above seemed to be focused on supporting the child emotionally, creating a safe and caring environment where the child can feel comforted while receiving care at the same time.

please answer these question for both replies

Discuss the following with your classmates after your initial post in your reply posts to your peers.

    • What are your thoughts and feelings as you see this image depicting nursing?
    • How does the media influence the image of nursing?
    • What role can YOU play to positively influence the image of nursing?
