MyFuture My Future of Work Assignment

    Final Project and Presentation

    Overview

At the 2005 Stanford Commencement, Steve Jobs said in his speech, You cant connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life. Whether you agree with this quote or not, connecting the dots (who you are + what you believe + what you do) is critical to moving forward toward a well-designed life by reflecting back. Connecting the dots will lead to coherence and meaning making as you design your personal brand. Right now, your greater purpose may not be clear, but the research, analysis, discussion, and interactive activities youve completed this semester have prepared you to reflect, be present, and look forward…toward the future of work.

From Chapter 3 in the text, Chritton writes, Finding a career based on your passions was a central theme of the speech. Jobs urged the Stanford graduates to find out what they love and not to settle for anything less because they were going to spend such a large part of their lives focused on work. He said that, the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do (Chritton, 48).

Preparing for the future of work and understanding the value of your network will be critical to the success of your personal brand. It will be imperative for you to build your team of contacts, collaborators, and colleagues. Additionally, with your rsum, cover letter, and grasp of career-related tools like Handshake, the future of work will be easier to navigate and improve your results for a positive career outcome and a superior personal brand.

  • Bombers and Fighters Utilized in War

Nazi Germany developed sophisticated rockets and missiles during the Second World War. Following WWII, the U.S. brought over German rocket and missile specialists to create the U.S. rocket program. The U.S.S.R. also persuaded German scientists through a variety of means to come to the U.S.S.R. to develop their own programs. Compare past programs of the U.S. and Soviets along with the multitude of international countries and private companies involved today in rocket and missile programs. Use credible sources: news websites from the provided list and your background knowledge gained from your course textbook readings to compare past and present for this topic (no encyclopedias). Contain details from both sources. Be sure to add in-text citations to illustrate where the facts originated
  • Module Six Comprehension Questions

    Overview

Your answers to these comprehension questions will demonstrate your understanding of the module concepts. Many of these concepts are included in the rubric criteria for the final project. Use your instructors feedback on your answers in this assignment as you develop the content for your final project.

    Directions

Review the module resources and then answer each question. Support your answers with examples from your chosen case study or another relevant scenario to show how to apply the concepts to real-life situations.

Specifically, address the following rubric criteria:

    1. Provide thorough and accurate answers that address all aspects of each question.
    2. Support your answers with examples from your chosen case study or another relevant scenario.
    3. Cite course resources, including your chosen case study or outside resources, for another relevant scenario.

    Comprehension Questions

    1. Discuss the relationship between service level, uncertainty, safety stock, and order quantity. How can trade-offs between these elements be made?
    2. What is the difference between the probability of a stock-out and the magnitude of a stock-out?
    3. Selling inventory helps the business achieve the objectives of making money and satisfying customer needs. The business does not achieve those objectives if inventory sits on the shelf. Inventory turn is a key indicator of success in inventory management. Regularly turning over inventory helps a company make money and satisfy customer needs. Explain how you would calculate the inventory turn for the company in your chosen case study. What information would you need?
    4. In every company, there are some demands that vary in a cyclic nature. Give an example of a cyclic demand in your own household and explain how you adapt to your need for that particular product. Use an example of a cyclic demand from your chosen case study and explain how the company should adapt to it.
    5. Stock-outs are a serious concern for all inventory managers. To prevent stock-outs, each item in the inventory has a reorder point. Use an example from your chosen case study and calculate the reorder point for the item.
    6. There is a cost to the ordering process. Determining the quantity to order each time requires you to consider several factors. Use an example from your chosen case study and determine the economic order quantity (EOQ) for the item.
