    Prompt Engineering

    AI Terminology

Before jumping into prompt engineering, take a moment to familiarize yourself with AI terminology:

    Prompt Engineering

“Prompt engineering is the deliberate and strategic formulation of instructions or inputs (prompts) given to an AI system to produce desired results. The quality and specificity of the prompt significantly influence the output generated by the AI model. Prompt engineering involves refining the presentation of a question or command. This refinement ensures clarity and specificity to achieve more accurate and relevant responses. This critical approach helps to fine-tune language models and optimize their performance for specific applications, such as healthcare, which has crucial language nuances.”

  • Relationships and Technology

Learning Goal: I’m working on a communications discussion question and need the explanation and answer to help me learn.

For your initial post, share with the class how technology affects your communication in four contexts. Use the following four categories as your four headings for this post:

    Academic (school setting)
    Professional (work setting)
    Civic (community setting)
    Personal (private setting)
Examine how your engagement with technology changes from context to context. Answer the following questions under each of the four above headings. Write your answers in paragraph format.

How often do you use technology in this setting?
What are the rules of practice for this setting?
Is technology distracting in this setting?
Do you prefer old media” like phone, written letter, or even face-to-face communication in this setting?
Finally, conclude your post by examining the readings this week. How has the lesson or reading this week challenged you to change your technology practices?

    MGT-520: Managing Performance for Results

    Module 09: Critical Thinking

    Assignment Instructions

    Appraisal Tool

The effective evaluation of employee performance depends, to a certain degree, on the tool that is utilized. Based on that statement, in this Critical Thinking Assignment students will create a one-page Performance Management Form that can be used in an organization. To accomplish this task, complete the following:

    1. Choose any organization in Saudi Arabia that you are familiar with, either one you have been employed with or have studied/researched.
    2. Choose an assessment template that you find beneficial/advantageous (note: typing assessment or evaluation format into Google will bring hundreds of different templates for you to choose). Students can also use one utilized in their current/previous workplace, or one they are familiar with.
    3. Using that template as a guide, create your own assessment tool you would propose to evaluate any employee/position in that organization (for instance, you may choose to evaluate an employee in finance). Be clear about:
The assessment/evaluation criteria important in your review.
The rating categories (e.g., superior, meets expectations, etc.)
An appropriate mix/combination of check-box assessment criteria and short answers.
    4. Please post the assessment template you utilized as a guide along with your own completed assessment tool.

Your form should meet the following structural requirements:

  • 2 pages in length, maximum
  • No need for in-text citations.
  • The assessment tool must be your own work, though you may follow the template/outline of those found via Google.
  • You are strongly encouraged to submit all assignments to the Turnitin Originality Check prior to submitting them to your instructor for grading. If you are unsure how to submit an assignment to the Originality Check tool, review the Turnitin Originality Check Student Guide.

Be sure to support any statement made in your form, and cite any statement and/or words/phrases that you are utilizing from other sources.

    Class Project

The objective of the class project is two fold: a) to familiarize you with the usage of Excel (which you will have to use in your jobs, no matter what type of jobs), and b) to draw conclusions based on the facts and your learning. You need to answer all the questions provided in a report format (i.e., do not re-write the questions and provide answers below) and write no more than 2-page, single spaced, 12 fonts, and Ariel/Times New Roman font. Your writing should be precise and indicative of your understanding the facts presented in the data. I will hold a review session on how to prepare your data and how to create the report, which will be announced within Canvas closer to the time in which the assignment is due. See the Weekly Schedule below for due dates and times.

    • Data: from FDIC website. Make sure your bank is a member of FDIC and has at least five years of data.

  • Business Question

A mentor once told me a saying: Ask for a job, and you will get advice. Ask for advice, and you will get a job. Perhaps its an oversimplification, but there is a lot of truth in it. In most professions and especially in financial advising, networking and asking good questions are two of the most important skills to learn. In this assignment, you will practice both.

For this assignment you will select 3 financial advisors to contact. Draft an email to each one and request to meet over coffee, lunch, video call, or phone call. As a requirement, this conversation cannot be had over email. During a later module, you will submit the notes from the conversation. You only need to schedule and successfully meet with 1 financial advisor, but you may meet with more than 1.

    Instructions

Submit a Word document with the following 3 sections.

Section 1: Create a bullet point list of 3-5 financial advisors you plan on contacting. Under each advisor, list the name of their business and a link to their website. Preferably list advisors with whom you do not currently have a close relationship (i.e. not family or close friends).

Section 2: Draft a 50-200 word email to send to the financial advisors. Introduce yourself and explain you are looking to enter the industry and would enjoy asking them a few questions about their work and retirement planning. Make sure your request is time-bounded (i.e. request 30-45 minutes).

Section 3: List 10 questions you may ask the financial advisor during the conversation. You will not be expected to ask every single one of these questions, but you will have them ready to ask.

Most of the questions should relate to retirement planning, but not every question needs to directly reference it. Examples include: What is your approach or process to helping clients prepare for retirement?, What causes retirees the most stress?, As an advisor what are the most rewarding and challenging aspects of retirement planning?, and What is your biggest success story in relation to retirement planning?. You may include these example questions in your list of 10 questions.

    Other Instructions:

Length of the assignment: At least 3 advisors are listed, the draft email is 50-200 words, and at least 10 questions are listed.

Format of the assignment: Current APA.

    Number of citations: None.

    Acceptable sources: N/A.

Helpful tip: When you are looking for financial advisors to contact, you may use personal networks. You may also utilize online directories such as NAPFA, XYPN, the CFP Board, and the Fee-Only Network. Each of these organizations include a directory of advisors. Please use advisors found in or around Phoenix, AZ

Note: Your assignment will be checked for originality via the Turnitin plagiarism tool.
