MGT-520: Managing Performance for Results
Module 09: Critical Thinking
Assignment Instructions
Appraisal Tool
The effective evaluation of employee performance depends, to a certain degree, on the tool that is utilized. Based on that statement, in this Critical Thinking Assignment students will create a one-page Performance Management Form that can be used in an organization. To accomplish this task, complete the following:
Your form should meet the following structural requirements:
You are strongly encouraged to submit all assignments to the Turnitin Originality Check prior to submitting them to your instructor for grading. If you are unsure how to submit an assignment to the Originality Check tool, review the Turnitin Originality Check Student Guide.
Be sure to support any statement made in your form, and cite any statement and/or words/phrases that you are utilizing from other sources.
Write a research paper on end-of-life considerations for an aging adult. USE CHAPTER 18 of The 3rd edition of Nutrition for the Older Adult by Melissa Bernstein and Nancy Munoz (ISBN 9781284149005), published by Jones & Bartlett. write as a sophomore in college, keep the tone neutral, don’t use unnecessary adjectives or adverbs, avoid technical jargon and complex terms
Instructions:
Would be minimum 10-12 pages in Word (includes cover, abstract and reference page) all in APA format. The research paper will discuss all the aspects of end-of life. You are being graded on format, length, research quality, and content. Writing should be in full paragraphs with intext citations (name, 2025). You should have TONS of these in your paper. DO NOT USE AI
Do not list bullet points, you will receive a zero.
Appropriate sources for current research on this topic are peer-reviewed research articles (try searching in PubMed via the library The Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is an example of a peer-reviewed journal. Everything in your paper should have a citation or its considered plagiarism. Put your full reference list at the end of your paper and also insert your references in Packback’s work-cited tab.
If you dont know already, peer reviewed means that other health professionals have reviewed it and think the document is legit. Non-peer reviewed is someone just writing an opinion in an article or blog, and it is just that…their opinion. Do not use opinions unless it is solely yours. If citing from websites, they must be legit sources. WEB MD and other generic websites are not scientific, but layman information.
Your paper should be written the scientific community. Remember, someday you may have to address this topic with a loved one.
How do you know you are doing it correctly, answer these questions.
Did I cover appropriate topics and are they cited with proper references?
Were appropriate sources (peer-reviewed articles) utilized for research? Minimum of 5. Use the UH librarians can help you, thats their job.
Were all sources cited and included in APA formatted at the end of your paper and cited in the text properly?
Is your paper interesting, did you present new ideas or concerns or find any new references?
The objective of the class project is two fold: a) to familiarize you with the usage of Excel (which you will have to use in your jobs, no matter what type of jobs), and b) to draw conclusions based on the facts and your learning. You need to answer all the questions provided in a report format (i.e., do not re-write the questions and provide answers below) and write no more than 2-page, single spaced, 12 fonts, and Ariel/Times New Roman font. Your writing should be precise and indicative of your understanding the facts presented in the data. I will hold a review session on how to prepare your data and how to create the report, which will be announced within Canvas closer to the time in which the assignment is due. See the Weekly Schedule below for due dates and times.

A mentor once told me a saying: Ask for a job, and you will get advice. Ask for advice, and you will get a job. Perhaps its an oversimplification, but there is a lot of truth in it. In most professions and especially in financial advising, networking and asking good questions are two of the most important skills to learn. In this assignment, you will practice both.
For this assignment you will select 3 financial advisors to contact. Draft an email to each one and request to meet over coffee, lunch, video call, or phone call. As a requirement, this conversation cannot be had over email. During a later module, you will submit the notes from the conversation. You only need to schedule and successfully meet with 1 financial advisor, but you may meet with more than 1.
Instructions
Submit a Word document with the following 3 sections.
Section 1: Create a bullet point list of 3-5 financial advisors you plan on contacting. Under each advisor, list the name of their business and a link to their website. Preferably list advisors with whom you do not currently have a close relationship (i.e. not family or close friends).
Section 2: Draft a 50-200 word email to send to the financial advisors. Introduce yourself and explain you are looking to enter the industry and would enjoy asking them a few questions about their work and retirement planning. Make sure your request is time-bounded (i.e. request 30-45 minutes).
Section 3: List 10 questions you may ask the financial advisor during the conversation. You will not be expected to ask every single one of these questions, but you will have them ready to ask.
Most of the questions should relate to retirement planning, but not every question needs to directly reference it. Examples include: What is your approach or process to helping clients prepare for retirement?, What causes retirees the most stress?, As an advisor what are the most rewarding and challenging aspects of retirement planning?, and What is your biggest success story in relation to retirement planning?. You may include these example questions in your list of 10 questions.
Other Instructions:
Length of the assignment: At least 3 advisors are listed, the draft email is 50-200 words, and at least 10 questions are listed.
Format of the assignment: Current APA.
Number of citations: None.
Acceptable sources: N/A.
Helpful tip: When you are looking for financial advisors to contact, you may use personal networks. You may also utilize online directories such as NAPFA, XYPN, the CFP Board, and the Fee-Only Network. Each of these organizations include a directory of advisors. Please use advisors found in or around Phoenix, AZ
Note: Your assignment will be checked for originality via the Turnitin plagiarism tool.
Completion requirements
For this assignment you will write an R program to complete the tasks given below. You will hand in two files for this assignment.
Note: The HMEQ_Scrubbed.csv file is a simple scrubbed file from the previous week homework. If you did more advanced scrubbing of data for last week, you may use your own data file instead. You might get better accuracy! If you decide to use your own version of HMEQ_Scrubbed.csv, please hand it in along with the other deliverables.
This assignment is an extension of the Week 4 assignment. The difference is that this assignment will now incorporate Random Forest and Gradient Boosting models.
Step 1: Read in the Data
Step 2: Classification Models
Step 3: Regression Decision Tree
Step 4: Probability / Severity Model Decision Tree (Push Yourself!)

Per the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AANC, 2021), advanced practice nurses are responsible for advancing the scholarship of nursing by disseminating one’s scholarship to diverse audiences using a variety of approaches or modalities. Additionally, they should translate evidence into practice.
The purpose of this assignment is to analyze and synthesize prior course information about current and emerging practice issues, scope of practice, licensure, ethical issues, legal parameters, national benchmarks, and quality improvement and safety impacting the student’s chosen future APRN role (AGACNP, FNP, PMHNP, Nurse Leader).
Students will present a voice-over PowerPoint Presentation about an issue of their choice within the context of their chosen future advanced practice role. You may use information from content you presented in prior DB posts. If you need inspiration for a topic, you could consider
1. Title slide with presentation title, student’s name, course name, and date
2. Explain the chosen future APRN role (FNP, AGACNP, PMHNP, Nurse Leader)
3. Explain a current/emerging practice issue impacting the patient population of your future APRN role
4. Explain the national benchmarks used to assess quality outcomes related to the issue. You can find these in the book, the Joint Commission site, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services site, etc.

6. Include a references slide
1. Maximum of 8 slides (including title and Reference slides)
2. Maximum 8-minute of your presentation as if you were presenting it at a conference (i.e., use formal language)
