Background
Effective written communication is crucial in the business world. This assignment allows students to showcase their written communication skills through an informal, analytical report on business communication issues and solutions. The objective is to evaluate their ability to identify and address cultural, social, and ethical issues impacting business communication.

Task

For this assignment you will be taking the information you gathered for the CSE worksheet and presenting it in a different format. Your report can be structured as a memo, letter, formal report, or presentation.

Purpose
While not considered traditional business documents, the various letters, resumes, and other documents created while searching for employment are incredibly important in the business world. These documents serve to show a potential employer their first glimpse into whom they might be hiring and become the first entries into a new employees human resources file.

This assessment will be used to assess student learning of SLO3: At least 70% of students will be able to analyze a job listing and develop professional employment search documents at least 70% of the time.

Task

Refer back to your Job Listing Worksheet; this listing will be used as inspiration to create a selection of job search related documents as well as a voicemail script. Research to find out what information is currently considered standard in these types of documents (for example, references are no longer included or mentioned in a resume). Ensure that each document meets professional standards and is polished.

  • A cover letter that has been tailored to the job listing youve selected
  • A resume that includes appropriate information and has been tailored to the job listing
  • A short email accepting the offered position
  • A voicemail script for a voicemail you would leave with an office to request an interview

You will create a professional presentation that presents the cultural and business norms of the country you selected when completing the cultural & business norms worksheet. This presentation should include appropriate graphics and be polished professional.
