Based on what you’ve learned about how to conduct therapy with couples who have a history of IPV, next, you will construct a treatment plan that details specific therapist tasks, goals, and interventions that would be considered at the initial, working, and closing phases of the therapy process. Your treatment plan should be primarily based on one model of therapy and include safety considerations. Your target couple client is presenting for therapy due to a history of conflict that escalates into situational couple violence.
The partners in the couple identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community. Your treatment plan should be based on a specific evidence-based model and consider general treatment guidelines for the target population. Include a brief discussion on how you will ensure that your treatment plan is relevant to the unique needs of your client’s LGBTQ+ identity.
Use the following general structure for your treatment plan. This is a guideline you are welcome to add more tasks, goals, or interventions as you see relevant. You may use the template provided in your resources.
