Select two from the numerated ethical theories and apply them to the ethical dilemma below. Note well: this is not an invitation for you to tell me how you personally would respond, but rather what a person whose professed ethical theory corresponds to your choices would say. CHOOSE TWO: 1. Utilitarianism (whether Act or Rule), 2. Deontology, and/or 3. Virtue Ethics (which may involve some version of Care Ethics or not). Apply them to this scenario: The Two that i am going to be using for this essay is virtue ethics and deontology.

Dan, a sophomore in college who believes with all his heart that the christian god has appointed him to the mission of getting through his education so that he can become a political leader in the United States, is at a crossroads in his Introduction to Ethics class. He must earn an “A” on the final exam in order to keep up his GPA and he must keep up his GPA in order to continue to receive the scholarship funding that will make it possible for him to complete the education that is necessary in order to attain the political position that will fulfill his god-given mission. Dan’s friend, Bart, took the Ethics course with Dr. West in the previous semester and managed somehow to take a screen shot of the final exam with the correct answers. Having heard from others that Dr. West frequently recycles the same exam, Dan figures that he would be assured the “A” if he studied Bart’s screenshot of the exam. Dan decides that the future fulfillment of his god-given purpose is too important to risk not receiving an “A” on the exam; so he decides to use Bart’s exam. Dan scores a “100” on the exam, imagining that Dr. West and everyone else is none the wiser for it. Suppose that he goes on to become President of the United States

Please write a 500-700 word (2-3 page, double-spaced) paper formatted using the Chicago Manual of Style (no MLA or APA will be accepted) with one-inch margins, elegant/professional 12-point font, interestingly titled paper that fully addresses the prompt below. As is customary in my classes, you are instructed NOT to consult outside sources. You will not need them as you are expected to engage directly with the assigned text material and to give me the sense that you have understood the content for this unit of the course. But even when using assigned textual material, you will still be expected to adhere to rigorous academic honesty in citing any direct quotation or paraphrasing you may deploy. The expectation is that you will give me YOUR reflection and not the “pre-chewed food” of someone else’s reflection. The goal of this exercise is to demonstrate that you understand how to apply at least two of the ethical theories we have studied (read about or discussed). But NOTE: It is impossible to produce a successful document that does not include reference to and citation of the authorized source documents. Your paper must include precise, i.e., not just a list of “Sources consulted”, documentation of sources used and, if it fails to do so, it will be treated as an instance of academic dishonesty with an automatic “0” for the assignment.

the added items at the bottom are all that are needed for this assignment most of it will be coming from a text book i will provide screen shots of evey page needed and the potentially used to be cited. along with the title and the author of the textbook the screen shots will be in page order. Paper is chicago style so i do need footnotes for a good grade.

  • unit 5 discussion post ems planning

Please note that there are two posts needed to successfully complete the discussion board assignment. An initial post addressing the discussion board topic is due by end of day Saturday. A response post to at least one other student is due by end of day Tuesday.

As there are multiple types of emergency medical services (EMS) systems, consider one that you have worked in or have knowledge of. There are often several misconceptions about other types of systems. For example, one might think that a privately owned (commercial agency) is only in the business of providing EMS for the money, or some may see the fire-based model as lacking in patient care methods because they care more about fire suppression duties.

Consider your own personal perceptions of various types of systems. What are some of your opinions of these systems? Are these opinions different based on the type of system for which you want to work?

When responding to classmates, try to choose those who have opinions about the systems that you work for or wish to work for in the future. This is a great opportunity to learn realistic information about systems with which you have not personally interacted.

If no initial posts exist to allow for a response to be made, you may submit an additional initial post addressing another aspect of the unit topic.

    respond to this:

    Shlomo Winkler

There are several different types of EMS models, including fire departmentbased, hospital-based, volunteer, private, and municipal third-service systems that operate independently. Each model has its own strengths and weaknesses, and even within the same category there can be significant differences depending on the region.

For example, in New York City, the EMS system is run by the fire department. FDNY EMS operates the majority of ambulances, but hospitals, contracted private companies, and volunteer agencies also contribute units to the 911 system. Each plays an important role in providing coverage across the city. In contrast, Nassau County has a more decentralized model. The Nassau County Police Department oversees the 911 system and operates the largest ambulance service, but most towns and fire districts run their own volunteer or paid EMS agencies. In some cases, residents can contact those agencies directly without going through 911. Both systems function, but they reflect different organizational philosophies.

Personally, I believe a municipal or third-service EMS model is the strongest overall structure. EMS should be viewed as equivalent to other first responders, not as a secondary or revenue-driven service. My concern with hospital-based or for-profit EMS systems is sustainability and mission alignment. Early in my career, I worked for a private ambulance company, Transcare, which eventually declared bankruptcy. When it closed, hundreds of employees were laid off and dozens of ambulances were removed from service in New York City and surrounding areas. That experience demonstrated how financial instability in a for-profit system can directly impact emergency coverage and workforce stability.

Ambulances exist to respond to emergencies, not to generate profit. In a for-profit model, idle time may be viewed as lost revenue, which can create pressures that do not always align with public safety priorities. While private and hospital-based systems can provide high-quality care, I believe a publicly funded municipal system is better positioned to prioritize community need over financial performance.

    Moral Courage and Questioning Authority

Socrates believed questioning authority was a moral duty. When, if ever, is it risky to do so? When, if ever, is it necessary to do so?

    Example 1

My historical studies during the previous year brought me to think about Socrates who chose to challenge those in power. The act appears courageous yet it creates a sense of danger. The practice of questioning authority becomes dangerous when the person in charge possesses control over your employment status and academic performance and personal protection. Socrates faced execution because he refused to stop his relentless pursuit of challenging inquiries. The situation demonstrates that dangerous outcomes exist. I maintain that people need authority because it becomes their only solution against oppression which causes harm to others. The practice of remaining silent about government deception and employer mistreatment of employees leads to our participation in the ongoing problem. I challenged my team captain when he falsely accused our silent teammate of making a mistake. My voice shook, but it mattered. People who possess moral courage choose to pursue truth instead of personal comfort even when their choice brings them significant challenges.

    Example 2

People find it easier to remain silent at times. I understand that experience because I have lived through it myself. People who challenge authority face danger because they must choose between two types of punishment. The school system punishes students who dispute teachers because their academic performance suffers. People at their workplaces experience anxiety about losing their employment. Socrates demonstrated that authorities do not support people who ask them questions. Unjust rules create a situation where people need to use martial arts techniques with their opponents. The absence of speech will result in continued wrongful behavior. I felt afraid to report my manager because he had violated safety protocols at my part time employment. I discovered that keeping quiet would cause harm to another person. I made a formal complaint about the situation to authorities. The situation became better after a period of intense conflict. People who act with courage put themselves in dangerous circumstances while they should remain silent at times.

    Example 3

The way Socrates challenged authority makes me feel about his experience as an uncomfortable situation. The people who control your academic performance and professional opportunities and personal freedoms will make it dangerous for you to question authority. When students show discontent for an unfair school regulation, their schools will mark them as problematic students. The fear exists as a genuine threat to our safety. People need to question authority because their silence will create dangerous outcomes. Socrates believed that people who obeyed without questioning should face worse consequences than their forced punishment. I agree with the statement. The decision to remain silent becomes wrong when a rule creates harm to others and ignores actual truth. I spent an entire day in regret because I chose to remain silent after my teacher accused the wrong student. People need to show bravery when they challenge authority because this action will endanger their personal security and their peaceful existence. Injustice becomes established as the normal state of society without individuals who will tackle difficult inquiries. Sometimes doing the right thing is scarier than doing nothing.

  • Discussion 6: Breastfeeding, Health, and Class

Chapter 9 of the course textbook revealed that there are marked differences in breastfeeding practices and cessation based upon social class.

Were you surprised to learn that class can impact even intimate family practices such as these? What sorts of obstacles can you imagine working-class women facing that would impact their ability to continue breastfeeding their children? How is that related to socio-economic status and the types of work in which women may be engaged? Do you believe public policies can be shaped in a way that addresses obstacles to breastfeeding and leads to healthier outcomes for working-class children just starting out their lives?

    Week 3 Recorded Yoga Classes

    Classes 5 & 6

Part of the requirements of this class is exercise. As the Catalog Description states, “A combination of physical activity and lecture providing regular exercise to develop physical fitness.”

You are required to exercise twice per week.

Each week, I provide 2 recorded yoga classes so you can exercise at home at your convenience.

Each class is approximately 35-50 minutes long.

When you have completed both classes, you will submit your answers to the following questions.

    1. What did you enjoy about each class? Please designate each class. For example, in Class #1, I enjoyed the feeling of relaxation after completing the class. I enjoyed the shoulder stretches because I have limited movement in my shoulders. I had a difficult time with the one-legged balance. Discuss specific poses and exercises that you experienced in each of the videos. Please discuss something about each class, talking specifically about the classes, so I know you are practicing along with each video.
    2. What was difficult about the class, or did anything hurt? Be specific. For example, in Class #1, I can’t sit cross-legged on the floor. Is there another way I can complete the exercise without my legs hurting? That way I can help.

Submit your assignment at the end of each module/week.

You may type your answers into the text box, or attach them in doc, Docx, or pdf.
