  • Talent Acquisition – Task 2

    Introduction

Human resources (HR) professionals enable current and future organizational competitiveness by maintaining an adequate supply of people with the knowledge, skills, abilities, and other characteristics needed to produce these resources. As a human resources professional, your ability to effectively identify your organizations need for employees, as well as plan and implement employee recruitment and selection strategies, will demonstrate solid talent acquisition practices that will directly contribute to your organizations success. This performance assessment will give you the opportunity to demonstrate these critical talent acquisition skills.

Task 2 addresses the second step in the talent acquisition process: recruiting. This includes identifying recruitment methods, establishing recruitment objectives, creating job postings, and ensuring a diverse candidate pool.

    Scenario

You are the newly appointed human resources director at Pruhart Tech, a midsize high-tech company located in the southeastern United States. The company is preparing for growth due to an increase in demand for its new smart home tech products.

The companys computer programmers play a key role in the development of new smart home tech products. Currently, the company employs 20 computer programmers. The CEO wants to create a new position of senior programmer and wants to fill 10 of these roles within the next three months to lead new product development. HR has begun drafting a job description for the senior programmer position but has not been able to complete it without conducting a formal job analysis.

Recruiting 10 senior programmers is no easy task. There is a competitive market and a shortage of qualified labor in the area. To source qualified candidates, both internal and external recruitment methods will need to be utilized. The CEO values strong teamwork and holds a belief that in-person work is the best way to achieve that. However, the CEO has agreed to reclassify the 20 current computer programmers and the 10 new senior programmers into remote positions yet wants to ensure that the newly hired employees will be able to work well within the team in a remote setting.

    Recruitment Plan

    A. Create a recruitment plan by doing the following:

    1. Recommend one recruitment metric.

    a. Explain how you would calculate the recruitment metric from part A1.

    b. Explain how the recruitment metric from part A1 is useful.

    c. Create two recruitment objectives for the recruitment metric from part A1.

Note: You may create two recruitment objectives (goals) around more than one metric.

    2. Recommend one internal recruitment method that the organization can use to recruit for the senior programmer role.

    a. Explain the benefits of the recommended internal recruitment method from part A2.

    3. Recommend one external recruitment method that the organization can use to recruit for the senior programmer role.

    a. Explain the benefits of the recommended external recruitment method from part A3.

    Job Posting

    B. Using the attached Organizational Memo on the Proposed Hiring Plan and Pruhart Tech Job Descriptions, write an appealing external job posting (suggested length of approximately 1 page, single-spaced) for the senior programmer position by doing all of the following:

    1. Write a concise summary (suggested length of approximately 100 words) of the organization designed to attract candidates to apply for the position and promote why someone would want to work for the company.

    2. Include three knowledge areas, skills, abilities, or other characteristics (KSAOs).

    3. Include three essential duties and responsibilities.

    4. Explain four benefits, tangible or intangible, provided by the organization.

    C. Acknowledge sources, using in-text citations and references, for content that is quoted, paraphrased, or summarized.

    D. Demonstrate professional communication in the content and presentation of your submission.

    • What are the key water-based and waste creation/types issues and impacts in the region that event organizers should be aware of (you may use the research gathered for your Week 5 discussion post to answer this question, but be sure not to duplicate your response).
    • How did the event navigate these challenges? Share at least one example to support this.
    • If you could make a suggestion of what the event might additionally do to address water and waste, what would your recommendation be? Support this with research.

Please be sure to share evidence of your use of research to support points in the assignment through the use of APA in-text references and a reference list at the close of the assignment. The assignment should be formatted in APA style with the following: title page, abstract (very brief), body of the paper, references list. You may include a table of contents, keywords, and appendices, but these are not required. For your Portfolio Project you will play the role of researcher and investigator to analyze the Zodiac Killer case and provide an opinion on if the Zodiac Killer is real or a myth. For this milestone you will create a timeline of the Zodiac Killers murders. Before you begin, be sure to review the full .

The Zodiac Killer is one of Americas most infamous serial killers who murdered at least five people during the 1960s and 1970s near San Francisco and in Northern California. The victims were couples being murdered in remote locations. The first victim was Cheri Jo Bates and he wrote a message to beware. He also included 13 symbols to the letters as well as a circle with a cross inside as his trademark. In over 50 years, numerous researchers, detectives and forensic specialists have tried to identify the Zodiac Killer. The big question remains, did he commit all those murders?

    • Research the Zodiac Killer and create a timeline of his murders.
    • Begin with the first murder and include date, name of victims, and location of murder.

portfolio priject mod 8 instructions :

Between 1968 and 1976, five murders were committed in the San Francisco Bay and Northern California. Between 1969 and 1974, police and the area newspapers received letters from a man who was self-proclaimed as the Zodiac Killer. After 1974, the communication through the letters stopped.

On August 1, 1969, the San Francisco Examiner, San Francisco Chronicle and Vallejo Times-Herald each received an identical handwritten letter in an envelope without a return address. The letter began with Dear Editor: I am the killer of the 2 teenagers last Christmas at Lake Herman, the letters contained details from the Zodiac Killers murders that only the killer could have known. The killer went on to threaten further attacks if the letters werent printed on the front page of the papers (Biography, n.d.).

The killer had developed his own symbol of a circle with a cross through it which was found on each letter. At the bottom of each letter was a three part cipher that he explained contained his identity. Police and FBI worked on deciphering the code when another letter was sent to the San Francisco Examiner where he described the murders in detail as only the killer would know and blamed police for not cracking the code. A High School teacher, Donald Harden and his wife Bettye were able to solve the cipher which read…. I like killing people because it is so much fun, it is more fun than killing wild game in the forest because man is the most dangerous animal of all (Biography, n.d.).

His victims were young couples and a single cab driver.

Although the Zodiac Killer claimed in letters to newspapers to have committed 37 murders, investigators agree on seven confirmed assault victims, five of whom died and two survived. They are:

    • David Arthur Faraday, 17, and Betty Lou Jensen, 16, were shot and killed on December 20, 1968, on Lake Herman Road, within the city limits of Benicia.
    • Michael Renault Mageau, 19, and Darlene Elizabeth Ferrin, 22, were shot on July 4, 1969, in the parking lot of Blue Rock Springs Park in Vallejo. Mageau survived the attack; Ferrin was pronounced dead on arrival at Kaiser Foundation Hospital. .
    • Bryan Calvin Hartnell, 20, and Cecelia Ann Shepard, 22, were stabbed on September 27, 1969, at Lake Berryessa in Napa County. Hartnell survived, but Shepard died as a result of her injuries a couple days later on September 29.
    • Paul Lee Stine, 29, was shot and killed on October 11, 1969, in the Presidio Heights neighborhood of San Francisco.

The case has been open for over 50 years. Police and the FBI had several links and listed possible suspects, however, no arrests were made in the case. There has been a wealth of research performed by criminal investigators, journalists, forensic specialists in the United States and in Europe to identify the Zodiac Killer.

On July 14, 2023, the US Sun newspaper reported a suspect list and is asking if the killer is caught. A group of investigators reported on May 17, 2023 to the Daily Mail that the FBI identified the Zodiac Killer as the retired Air Force veteran Gary Francis Poste who died in 2018.

The following unanswered questions still remain:

    • Did the Zodiac Killer commit all the murders?
    • Who wrote all the letters?
    • Was there more than one killer?
    • Is the killer a psychopath or a sociopath? Explain your decision with facts from the case.

  • 6-1 Discussion: Confidence Intervals

The B&K Real Estate Company sells homes and is currently serving the Southeast region. It has recently expanded to cover the Northeast states. The B&K realtors are excited to now cover the entire East Coast and are working to prepare their southern agents to expand their reach to the Northeast.

B&K has hired your company to analyze the Northeast home listing prices in order to give information to their agents about the mean listing price at 95% confidence. Your company offers three analysis packages: one based on a sample size of 100 listings, one based on 1,000 listings, and another based on a sample size of 4,000 listings. Because there is an additional cost for data collection, your company charges more for the package with 4,000 listings than for the package with 100 listings.

Bronze Package – Sample size of 100 listings:

    • 95% confidence interval for the mean of the Northeast house listing price has a margin of error of $24,500
    • Cost for service to B&K: $2,000

Silver Package – Sample size of 1,000 listings:

    • 95% confidence interval for the mean of the Northeast house listing price has a margin of error of $7,750
    • Cost for service to B&K: $10,000

Gold Package – Sample size of 4,000 listings:

    • 95% confidence interval for the mean of the Northeast house listing price has a margin of error of $3,900
    • Cost for service to B&K: $25,000

The B&K management team does not understand the tradeoff between confidence level, sample size, and margin of error. B&K would like you to come back with your recommendation of the sample size that would provide the sales agents with the best understanding of northeast home prices at the lowest cost for service to B&K.

In other words, which option is preferable?

    • Spending more on data collection and having a smaller margin of error
    • Spending less on data collection and having a larger margin of error
    • Choosing an option somewhere in the middle

    For your initial post:

    • Formulate a recommendation and write a confidence statement in the context of this scenario. For the purposes of writing your confidence statement, assume the sample mean house listing price is $310,000 for all packages. “I am [#] % confident the true mean . . . [in context].”
    • Explain the factors that went into your recommendation, including a discussion of the margin of error
