Instructions:
- Gather your materials (5points) You can use store-bought bubbles or make your own (a simple mixture of Dawn dish soap and water works well). For credit document what type of bubbles you used in your reflection.
- Play like a child (5points) Step into the shoes of a preschooler and play with bubbles outdoors on a large scale. Imagine how a child would discover, experiment, and interact with the bubbles. Document in your reflection write up for credit. Consider:
- How does a child figure out how to use the bubbles?
- What happens as they play with them?
- What kind of questions might they ask?
- What comments or reactions might they have?
- What physical skills are being developed (e.g., hand-eye coordination, breath control, gross/fine motor skills)?
- Reflect and write (5points) After your play session, write a one-page response discussing the different ways children learn through bubble play. Address the physical, cognitive, and psychosocial aspects of development:
- Physical Development: What motor skills are being practiced?
- Cognitive Development: How does playing with bubbles encourage problem-solving, curiosity, and discovery?
- Psychosocial Development: How might children express emotions, engage with peers, or practice communication during bubble play?
