Assignment A3.1 – Visualizing Spotify Streaming Data: An Exploration of Graphical Representation and Insightful Analysis

Assignment Description

You will be provided with a dataset containing Spotify’s streaming data and tasked with creating four different graphs using best practices and adding insightful “takeaway titles.” After completing the graphs, you must select the one you believe best conveys your insights and justify your choice with a clear explanation.

Instructions

Using Tableau, connect to the file. This file contains over 1,900 rows of real Spotify streaming data on songs listened to by Spotify users from 2000 to 2019.

Apply the data visualization best practices that we have learned during this course to visualize the evolution of the average popularity for the genres Dance/Electronic, Hip-Hop, Pop, and Rock from 2010 to 2019 (inclusive).

Create the following:

a highlight table on sheet 1
a parallel bar/column chart on sheet 2
a line chart on sheet 3
a treemap on sheet 4
Write and format takeaway titles in the same way as we did during the bar charts, line charts, and pie charts best practices videos. The titles should help communicate interesting insights derived from the data.
Provide a detailed explanation in PDF format for this question: Which of the visuals that you have created do you like best and why?
