As a health informatics professional, the ability to define and evaluate data governance programs used to manage data within a health care organization is an essential skill.
You are working for an organization that currently does not have a data governance program in place. Your goal is to develop and recommend a data governance framework to the leadership team and explain how implementing the framework will help to ensure patient privacy.
Part 1: Five Components of the Data Governance Template
There are five key components necessary for a data governance framework: threat identification, risk analysis, disaster recovery, business continuity, and data security related to health information exchanges (HIEs) and other electronic transmissions. Part 2: Digital Presentation
Create a 12-15 slide digital presentation with speaker notes for an audience of executive leaders about the significance of adopting and implementing a data governance program. The presentation should address the following:
- Explain the impact of a data governance framework on health care operations.
- Provide a summary of the data governance framework you are proposing. Include a discussion about how industry standards and regulations are integrated into the policies and practices to ensure patient privacy, confidentiality, and security of health care information systems and information.
- Describe how data governance frameworks assist in adherence to HIPAA regulations.
- Explain how the 21st Century Cures Act impacts privacy and security regulations.
- Explain the advantages and limitations of using a data governance framework to solve health information problems. Include a discussion about the various needs of patients, providers, and the health care organization.
- Include a title slide, reference slide, and speaker notes for each slide.
