Descriptive Statistics: Time to Practice Problems

  1. Submit your work by uploading an Excel file to this submission space
  2. After reading how to set up your Excel to add in the Data Analysis ToolPak (Salkind & Frey, 2021, p. 11) and read through Chapter 2, use the data set () of gender and student grades to compute the following:
    • Minimum Value
    • Maximum Value
    • Range
    • Mean
    • Median
    • Mode
    • Standard Deviation (Sample)
    • Variance (Sample)
  3. Use the two data sets () of heights and weights to compute the range and variance (calculated with descriptive statistics), and then compute the biased and unbiased standard deviation (calculated with statistical formulas). In addition, use written words to explain the differences between biased and unbiased standard deviations (supported with citations/references).
