- Each person is represented by the appropriate shape (with name or pseudonym)
- Use of relational lines to indicate hostility, closeness, fusion, or cut-offs between family members
- Marital status of all couples
- Chronic physical or mental health issues or cause of death
- Descriptions of the existence of family violence in any subsystems and the strengths in subsystems that prevent family violence

- Write a reflection on the process of creating your genogram and summarize your observations and how this may be helpful to you as you assess strengths and liabilities related to family violence in the families you serve as an MFT. In your reflection address the following questions: What are your personal perceptions of family violence? How do your perceptions relate to your family of origin?
- What values of your family relate to your perceptions of family violence?
- Are there macro-level variables that influence your family’s values and behaviors related to family violence?
- Do you have any blind spots related to your family of origin that could influence your ability to assess and treat family violence-related dynamics effectively?
- Discuss your own differentiation and describe how you can continue to improve it to serve trauma populations best.

References: Include a minimum of 3 scholarly resources.
