Healthcare changes dramatically because of technological developments, from anesthetics and antibiotics to magnetic resonance imaging scanners and radiotherapy. Future technological innovation is going to keep transforming healthcare, yet while technologies (new drugs and treatments, new devices, new social media support for healthcare, etc..) will drive innovation, human factors will remain one of the stable limitations of breakthroughs.
Technology drives healthcare more than any force, and in the future, it will continue to develop in dramatic ways. While we can glimpse and debate the details of future trends in healthcare, we need to be clearer about the drivers so we can align with them and actively work to ensure the best outcomes for society.
For the final paper, each student is to review the role of technology in healthcare. Identify significant technological innovations over the last decade. Identify how technology affects not only the healthcare system but the providers and the patient. Identify the steps for adopting new technology in a healthcare system the overall potential risks, challenges, benefits (this should include strategic and tactical planning). What role does data play? Referring to your leadership style and collaboration techniques, how can you help mitigate potential issues, challenges and fears? What steps should be taken to ensure external alignment? What type of team should be developed to help ensure a successful implementation and adoption.
