We learned how the cultural excitement and nativist backlash of the 1920s gave way to the Great Depression, made worse by policies from the Roaring Twenties. We also looked at how President Hoover tried to respond at first, and how Franklin Delano Roosevelts New Deal brought big changes through Relief, Reform, and Recovery. These shifts showed how government and society worked to face one of the hardest times in American history
