Ariel: Facility maintenance and repair systems are critical to the overall success and safety of sport venues. Based on the lecture materials, an effective maintenance system requires a balance between preventive and corrective strategies. Preventive maintenance involves routine inspections, scheduled servicing, and early identification of potential issues before they escalate. In contrast, corrective maintenance focuses on repairing problems after they occur. According to Fried and Kastel (2021), combining these approaches allows facility managers to minimize disruptions, extend the life of infrastructure, and control operational costs.

The video on maintenance and repair systems highlights the importance of organization, documentation, and communication within facility operations (Fried, 2015). For example, having a structured system for reporting damageswhether through staff inspections or feedback from spectatorsensures that issues are addressed quickly and efficiently. This is especially important in large sports venues, where high attendance and frequent use can accelerate wear and tear on seating, restrooms, and playing surfaces.

Additionally, environmental factors play a significant role in maintenance planning. Outdoor facilities must account for weather-related challenges such as heavy rain, extreme heat, or humidity, which can damage surfaces and infrastructure. Implementing proper drainage systems and regular inspections can help prevent long-term damage. Ultimately, a well-managed maintenance and repair system enhances safety, improves the fan experience, and protects the financial investment in the facility. Consistent upkeep ensures that venues remain functional, compliant with safety standards, and capable of hosting successful events.

Markensenley: The video demonstrates how the facility’s construction is extremely well-organized and involves several stages that call for meticulous planning and organization. To comply with modern standards, various parts of the building frequently need to be removed, strengthened, and reconstructed. One of the most important aspects of stadium maintenance that the interviewee spoke about was the constant visual checking of the stadium, especially when it comes to seating chairs. This process of chair checking is mainly helped by fans who actively call in to report any damage to their surroundings. From there, maintenance is done promptly to ensure that by the next event, fans have repaired chairs that are as brand new to sit on.

Because maintenance guarantees that sports venues run successfully, securely, and efficiently, proper facility management is crucial for sports facilities. It contributes to upholding strict standards of hygiene, security, and usability, which improves the experience for athletes, fans, and employees. Furthermore, more individuals are realizing the importance of sporting facilities as a means of promoting socioeconomic development and community involvement, making them a substantial investment. In order to properly maintain these infrastructures and save operating expenses while still offering a shared community area for everyone to enjoy, it is essential to have efficient sports facility management practices (Cayabyab). Seasonal weather has a significant impact on outdoor sporting facilities, which can lead to maintenance issues. To avoid flooding, soil erosion, and surface damage, adequate drainage is crucial (Macann). Both in door and outdoor facilities come with their maintenance requirements. In both instance, safety, comfortability and the happiness of the fans are all that matter.
