Here’s my answers below but I need help revising them and making sure that they stay on topic with the scholarship questions.

1. My path into healthcare has been shaped by both lived experience and professional exposure. Working in peri-operative services, I have had a front-row view of how critical teamwork, precision, and compassion are in patient care. I have seen patients enter surgery feeling anxious and vulnerable, and I have witnessed the impact that attentive, empathetic healthcare professionals can have in easing that fear. Those moments made healthcare feel less like a career choice and more like a responsibility. Personally, my perspective also has been shaped by encountering gaps in care, particularly for women and underserved communities. There have been moments where I observed or experienced a lack of attentiveness, delayed communication, or inequitable treatment, and those instances stayed with me. Instead of discouraging me, they clarified my purpose. I want to be part of a system that does better, and more importantly, I want to be a provider who does better. In addition, my commitment to service has reinforced my direction. Organizing a large-scale hygiene and period product drive for shelters across Virginia and extending support to Nigeria exposed me to the real, everyday barriers people face in maintaining their health and dignity. It showed me that healthcare extends beyond hospital walls. Without strong financial or family support, I have had to rely on my own discipline and vision to pursue this path. These combined experiences have shaped not only my decision to enter healthcare but also the kind of professional I intend to be: compassionate, observant, and committed to equitable care.

2. In the short term, my primary goal is to transition into nursing and successfully complete the education and clinical training required to become a registered nurse. Building on my Master of Healthcare Administration and my current experience in peri-operative services, I want to strengthen my clinical skills while continuing to understand healthcare systems from both operational and patient care perspectives. I am particularly interested in specializing in labor and delivery, where I can support patients during one of the most critical and vulnerable times in their lives. As I advance in my nursing career, I plan to pursue certifications and hands-on experience that will allow me to provide high-quality, evidence-based care. I also intend to remain actively involved in community outreach, continuing initiatives like hygiene and period product drives to address gaps in access to basic health resources. My long-term goal is to combine my clinical and administrative background to create sustainable change in healthcare delivery. I aspire to open a group home that provides safe, supportive care for individuals who need consistent medical and emotional support, particularly those from underserved communities. In doing so, I hope to bridge gaps between clinical care, community resources, and long-term support systems. Ultimately, my goal is not only to grow professionally but to create environments where patients feel seen, heard, and properly cared for. I want my career to reflect both clinical excellence and a commitment to service that extends beyond traditional healthcare settings.

3. I am drawn to healthcare because it allows me to combine compassion with action. Through my work in perioperative services, I have seen how vulnerable patients are in critical moments, and how much trust they place in their care teams. To care for patients means more than providing treatment; it means advocating for them, listening to them, and ensuring they feel safe and respected. As someone who has witnessed gaps in care, I am committed to being a provider who delivers not only clinical support but also dignity, empathy, and reassurance when patients need it most.
