PSY 520 Milestone Two Guidelines and Rubric
You are required to use Southern New Hampshire University students as research participants; use the PSY 510/520 Lounge in SNHUConnect (link is located in the left-hand navigation menu). You are strictly prohibited from using individuals outside of Southern New Hampshire University as research participants.
For this assignment, you will submit a draft of the survey instrument you propose to submit in the Student Lounge for data collection. Submit clear questions and response choices in the order you plan to collect data for your research question. Be sure to include the introduction and instructions that should be part of your survey. Be sure the content of your survey is sound by addressing essential questions without redundancy. You may use a questionnaire that you design or an existing survey instrument with evidence of reliability and validity. The Journal Article Reporting Standards from the American Psychological Association suggest that collecting age, sex, ethnicity, and socioeconomic status of participants is necessary for quantitative research. For your survey, collect only the demographic information required by APA and other information needed to address your research topic. Do not collect demographic information that you do not need. Please remember: Items and questions about diagnosable mental health disorders, suicide, or abuse of any kind are not allowed. Your instructor will provide feedback so you can improve these materials before data collection.
Specifically, be sure to address the following critical elements:
- Include a clear introduction statement of purpose and a motivational message encouraging participation.
- Include clear and easy-to-follow instructions, reflecting a well-designed instrument.
- Provide crystal-clear questions that a person would not have to ask for clarification about.
- Provide response choices that need no interpretation and are appropriate for every question.
- Ensure your content addresses all essential questions without duplication.
What to Submit
Submit a single document containing all introductory statements, instructions, and questions you will ask of your research participants. Your document should be double-spaced, with 12-point Times New Roman font and one-inch margins
