Assignment: Real-World Business Ethics Case Study
Overview:
For this assignment, you will select a real-world business ethics problem and analyze it using concepts and theories from class. The paper should be no more than 3 pages (double-spaced) and should demonstrate your ability to explain, evaluate, and propose solutions to ethical challenges in business.
Instructions:
- Choose a Case
- Find a real-life business ethics problem. This could involve workplace rights, corporate governance, environmental responsibility, marketing, AI, globalization, or another topic from our syllabus.
- Provide a working link to a credible news article, report, or other reliable source that describes the case.
- Explain the Problem
- Summarize the situation clearly in your own words. Who is involved? What happened?
- Identify the ethical dilemma and why it is morally significant.
- Methodology
- Briefly explain how you researched your case and how you approached the analysis.
- Mention which ethical theory (utilitarianism, deontology, virtue ethics, etc.) or framework you used to guide your evaluation.
- Propose a Solution
- Offer one or more possible solutions to the ethical problem.
- Support your answer with reasoning: Why is this solution the most ethical? Who benefits or is harmed? Is it practical to implement?
Format:
- Length: Maximum of 3 pages, double-spaced (excluding citations).
- Include the link to your source at the end of the paper.
- Use clear, organized writing and reference ethical theories where appropriate.
