Spotify Song Attributes Dataset. you must provide a Tableau…

Project Requirements

    1. Download the selected dataset.
    2. Review the dataset you selected and develop a minimum of THREE meaningful questions about the data presented.
    3. Review the data in the dataset. Apply any adjustments needed to get the data in the format needed for analysis.
    4. Open the cleaned file in Tableau. Run any suggested data cleaning options in Tableau.
    5. Create appropriate worksheets and dashboards in Tableau that address the questions you pose in the written summary (see instructions below) and that reflect important and/or interesting information about the data. Use multiple visual options and filters to illustrate the data appropriately.
    6. Write the required summary (3-5 Pages, double spaced, Times New Roman, 12 point font) including the following items and headings:
        • Cover Page (Not counted in page count)
        • Introduction
          • Describe the dataset you selected and identify the items included in the dataset.
          • Describe any modifications you made to the dataset.
        • Data Questions
          • List a minimum of THREE questions you will investigate: For each question,
            • classify the question as descriptive, diagnostic, predictive or prescriptive,
            • explain WHY you chose each question (e.g., why is it important?),
            • identify the data you will use to investigate the question and explain any data relationships,
            • describe the way you illustrate the information in the Tableau dashboard and WHY you chose the illustration you did,
            • summarize your learnings or observations about the data based on your analysis. What did you learn from which dashboard? What’s the most important take-a-way from the analysis? What other information would be helpful to make a business decision? Be sure to support your learnings with data from your analysis and pictures of the dashboard data.
          • Be sure to reference the specific Tableau dashboard or worksheet. When referencing your Tableau visuals, you can reference the title of the dashboard or worksheet within the sentence or at the end. Make it easy for me to match your narrative to the visual you created. For example, “State Population 2020-2024 shows an average increase in population in the southeastern region.” Or “There is a significant increase in the average population in the southeastern region when compared to other regions in the United States (State Population 2020-2024 Dashboard).”
        • Conclusion
    7. In Tableau, use the Export Packaged Workbook option to export the Tableau workbook (file extension should be .twbx) and save it to a location on your computer.
    8. Submit the Tableau file (file extension should be .twbx) and the Word file by the due date.

SIMILARITY SCORE

For the Final Project, the Word file you upload will be screened by TurnitIn. Each submission is screened for authenticity and receives a Similarity Score. You should be able to see this score for your submission after you submit it. Any scores 20% or higher need to be addressed by you in a comment that explains what the similarity in the paper is. If your Similarity Score is 20% or higher and it is not adequately explainable, I encourage you to rewrite your paper and resubmit it before the project due date

If there is a Similarity Score of 20% or higher that is not adequately explained, I will not grade the assignment until you review the Similarity Score and report back via the Comment section what is the reason for the high Similarity Score.

When writing your paper, please note the following policy related to AI:

In this assignment, generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools may be used for research and brainstorming, but will not be allowed as a text-generation tool. To uphold academic integrity and encourage personal intellectual development, this course includes the following specific guidelines on the use of AI tools, particularly text generation tools:

  • You are allowed to use AI to research and/or brainstorm but cannot be used for editing or text-generation for your paper.
  • Citation and Transparency: If AI tools are used for research and/or brainstorming, you must clearly disclose this use in the work and provide details on the extent and nature of AI use following APA referencing guidelines.
  • Academic Integrity: Submitting AI-generated work as your own, failing to cite the use of AI, or using AI to gain an unfair advantage is a violation of academic integrity.

For best practice, if you use AI for research and/or brainstorming, keep all records of transactions until final grades have been submitted. Keep a record of what app you used, when you used it, and complete transcript. Be sure you are using your own words and thoughts when writing your paper.

Submitting Two Files to Assignment

For this project, you must submit TWO files: a WORD file and a TABLEAU .tbwx file.

Here are some tips on how to do this: Upload BOTH files individually to the assignment and then, only after BOTH files are upload to the assignment, click Submit! This will add both the Word file and the video file to the link. If you come back later and want to replace one file and you only upload that file, it will OVERWRITE what was submitted earlier and you would only have the most recent file submitted. If you need to update one file, you MUST upload BOTH files again to the assignment link.

Learn more here on how to upload multiple files to an assignment:

I hope this information helps you submit BOTH files to the assignment link. In the final project, you will prepare and submit two files.

  1. Tableau file (.tbwx extension) with the worksheets and dashboards you create.
  2. Word file explaining the dataset you selected, the items in the dataset, the items you selected to analysis in Tableau and why, the contents of the final dashboard(s) you created and your learnings or observations about the data based on your analysis.

The Final Project will be graded using the rubric included on the assignment. Please review this rubric before you begin the assignment and check back frequently to ensure your project aligns with the grading rubric.
