Instructions

For this assignment, using the VP of Operations Assignment 1 PowerPoint template [PPTX] Download Assignment 1 PowerPoint template [PPTX], provide a 68 slide (not including a title slide and sources slide) Operations Strategy and Supply Chain Presentation for the executive team. The presentation will include the situational analysis, problem(s), alternatives, and recommendations these content slides must include speaker notes to be considered complete. Follow the instructions below as you conduct your analysis and develop your recommendations. Include content from the Week 2 Activity and Week 3 Discussion as applicable. Note: You must submit this assignment as a .PDF/XPS so your speaker notes can be read by Turnitin in Canvas. Situational Analysis

  1. Conduct a SWOT Analysis using the table in the [PPT] template to:
    • Analyze the internal environment (Strengths and Weaknesses), focusing on a) operations and other functional strategies, b) current product/service design, and c) internal processes as they relate to the current supply chain.
    • Analyze the external environment (Opportunities and Threats) focusing on the external elements of the current supply chain.
  2. Explain how the results of the SWOT Analysis demonstrate: (1) the effectiveness of the current operations strategies, (2) the relationship between product/service design and internal process to the current supply chain, and (3) the alignment of the external elements of the current supply chain to the operations strategy.
  3. Conduct a PESTEL Analysis using the table in the [PPT] template to:
    • Analyze the Political, Economic, Sociocultural, Technology, Environmental, and Legal/Regulatory factors in relationship to the external elements of the current supply chain.
  4. Explain how the results of the PESTEL analysis help determine if the supply chain is properly aligned to provide a sustainable competitive advantage in the current business environment.

Problem

  1. Analyze an operations management (supply chain) related problem the business is currently having or is projected to have soon (based on research and the results from the SWOT and PESTEL Analyses you completed.) Explain why the identified problem was selected as a primary focus.
  2. Explain how business analytics might play a role in determining the operations management (supply chain) related problem.

Alternatives

  1. Compile four potential operations management (supply chain) related solutions you believe will solve the problem identified in your Organizational Problems slide.
    • Remember that these are potential alternatives; you will not select all alternatives to solve the problem.
  2. Determine the role business analytics can play in developing, implementing, and analyzing potential solutions.

Recommendation (Operations Strategy)

  1. Select two of the alternative operations management (supply chain) solutions to solve the problem(s) you identified in this case analysis. Discuss what types of changes will need to be made to the operations strategy to implement these recommendations.
  2. Justify your recommended solutions by explaining the benefits in terms of sustainable competitive advantages the recommendations are expected to provide for the company.
