Writing Question

PART 1

Write a 23 page paper summarizing the main findings and identifying trends in the evolution of U.S. hospitals from the 1800s to today.

The first hospital in the United States was founded in Philadelphia in 1751. Its mission was to care for the sick-poor and insane who were wandering the streets” of Philadelphia (Penn Medicine, n.d., para. 1). Since that time, hospitals in the United States have changed in their roles, structures, and services. For example, there has been a shift away from inpatient care to more outpatient care. This change has affected healthcare providers and patients in important ways. There is also a combination of government and private payer systems that affect the finances of hospitals and patients’ access to care.

As a healthcare administrator, you will find it is important to have a historical perspective on healthcare changes and trends. This assessment is an opportunity to review historical trends related to hospital environments, medical staff education, level and quality of care, and payment methods for care. This knowledge will help you understand how to improve healthcare today and in the future. In your professional roles, you will often do research on a topic to provide background information for decision-making, committee work, or creating policies. One helpful approach to doing research is to create a comparison table of key events on the history of an issue. When you review events documented over time, you can uncover trends that help explain changes and progress in the healthcare industry.

PART 2

Write a 34 page paper on the scope of change in medical education from the 1800s to today. Start with the early apprenticeship model to the current academic models. Discuss the importance of understanding the history in order to help improve medical education in the future.

Education and training of healthcare providers have evolved in response to the needs of a changing healthcare system. In the 1800s, students learned medicine through hands-on training with an experienced doctor. By the 1900s, medical training followed a more structured and academic model, with classes and clinical rotations. Today’s medical training includes many technology innovations, such as augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), robotic-assisted surgery, and minimally invasive or noninvasive procedures. We also have remote patient monitoring (RPM) and telemedicine through a virtual model of care (VMC). Additionally, modern training focuses on using the human genome for more precise diagnoses and personalized treatments. These shifts in training, technology, and role definitions have impacted both the quality of care and the healthcare workforce.

As a medical administrator, it’s important for you to have some understanding of the history of medical education and training. This knowledge will help you understand the context of current practices and make informed decisions in the future. PART 3

Write a 23 page paper summarizing the key findings and drawing conclusions on the historic trends of quality in healthcare.

Healthcare is one of the most closely regulated industries in the United States and worldwide. Over the years, the lines between private and public health systems have become less clear, with both working together to reduce health problems. Public-private partnerships (PPPs) in healthcare are agreements between public sector agencies and private entities. PPPs have created important programs like Vaccines for Children (VFC), Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), and the Healthy People initiatives (19902030). Governmental agencies have also been involved in improvements in medical education, research, technology, and payment models for healthcare.

For this assessment, you will explore key laws, regulatory agencies, and quality programs that have pushed the United States toward a strong focus on healthcare quality. As the focus on quality keeps growing, healthcare professionals can expect more new ideas aimed at improving health for both individuals and communities, along with new regulations to keep high standards in place.

Using template, write a 23 pagepaper in which you explain healthcare regulations and medical practice evolutionary changes for access, quality, and cost, including the significant milestone events from different time periods.
